Justin Walker - I have not heard anything to suggest it has not held up. The customer modeled it after the design they sell for other vehicles. I think the one he showed me was even thinner so should hold up well.
Greg - Thanks for the question and the feedback, glad you like the videos. Yes, I did built the light. Unfortunately, I did not make a video of that one. Good news though, it is pretty easy. Look up Everbright halo light on Amazon and find the size you need. Mine came in a pair for $13. Then I bought a 12v adapter and some magnets (also on Amazon). You could epoxy the magnets to the light or in my case I just used double side sticky tape to secure the magnets. Get as simple or as fancy as you want with the switch. I just put a small toggle switch on the side of the mill where I had some room. Little bit of soldering and an extra strand of wire to split the 12V adapter wired to the switch and za poof! You have a ring light.
Yes, could have slowed the feed a little. Goes under the car so surface finish was not a big factor. I have one insert that is off a thou or so on that face mill.
@@nickeley7501 Fair enough. I think you would have to feel and touch the part yourself. The camera accentuates every little scratch. IMO it was an acceptable face mill finish for a part. Ultimately the customer was happy. That said, I appreciate the feedback and will be more conscientious in the future.
Got a Tormach 440 on the way - I want to cut steel, hopefully the little fella will be able to handle it.
Justin Walker - Congrats on the new machine! It should be able to cut steel, just smaller cuts than a machine with more HP.
On steel I rough cut with a 7/16 then finish with a 5/16 sharp cutter, running 7500 rpm at 10 ipm, surface at 5000 rpm at 10 ipm.
