- This literally came out of nowhere. A perfect Phantasm clear with MarisaA. I'm sure it has something to do with all time I've been spending playing unfocused. In this run, I avoided a countless number of possible deaths through pure luck. The funny thing is, on my Extra stage video I uploaded not to long ago, I talked about how much I hated going for perfect runs.

At the last phase... WOW.
Yeah, that's nothing. If you notice, the counter begins at 99, which is unusual for something outside of a final spell. If you don't shoot Yukari to active her phases and leave her on the first phase, at 20(?) seconds she starts shooting all the bullets at once, but faster.

It's like touhou players's public secret lol. actually, many of Ran's spells are harder than Yukari's (Charming siege from all sides, fox-tanuki youkai laser, etc.)
i find a lot of yukari's spells easier than ran's counterparts
Looking back, I definitely feel like the Phantasm concept could have been executed better than it was here, it feels like the main thing that makes Yukari different from Ran is just the final spell. They're not as crazy or mind-bending as they could have been. Of course, even among fangames Phantasm stages are rare, so there aren't many opportunities to see quite how far the concept could be taken.

God damn, makes me wanna cry seeing the stage that's given me the most trouble, and the stage that I see as the hardest in ALL OF TOUHOU get so mercilessly destroyed. Damn. Just.....damn.
Try a pacifist Touhou 4 extra, Mugetsu and Gengetsu are a nightmare in pacifist

If that means no bombs either, you would have to reach Gengetsu rape time with enough lives to tank through it which I'm not sure is even possible. Especially if you can't get extra lives through killing things. . .
I can't really speak for PC-98 Touhou (Though what I've played of Touhou 1 is insane and Touhou 2 is cheap AF) but Touhou 11 has some absolute hell on lunatic, 12 has the stage 4 timeout which I can barely scrape by on in normal, not to mention Byakuren and a damn tough extra stage. 14 has some really tough stuff too. If you want to really hate yourself though, just look for lunatic LoLK stuff, or Black Label Lunatic clears on that game.
@Donhimesama Daifutari Pretty sure this 6 year old discussion is about touhou but okay, and also, comparing touhou and dodonpachi or any other CAVE games just isnt fair lol, CAVE games are just on another level in terms of difficulty

Anyway, when did you play Touhou for the first time?
@@hakuro2026 I think the first time I tried it was two years ago. I yeeted it away for half a year or so, not being able to go through Patchouli-Sakuya part (iirc). Tried again. Reached Remilia. Couldn't do it. Another rage-quit. Half a year or so later, falling victim to TH-cam recommendations, I installed this game again. Completed it on normal. Tried Extra Stage several times. Teeth-grindingly difficult.

Switch to PCB. Iirc I reached maybe last stage, but had to continue because my sanity wouldn't handle leaving the completion here. Bad ending. Who would've thought (fuck you, ZUN). And here I see "oh oopsie-doopsie, this perfect phantasm completion was on accident, oh well". Rage-quit
I'm tempted. TH-cam recommendations are kicking in again. And your comment. I might try again. I don't want to, I know that I will be suffering again. But something deep inside me kinda wants this
If next time happens, it will definitely end in another toxic rage-quit. I just know

I can't imagine actually completing this stage, not even because of the patterns but just the sheer amount of time that it takes. About 10 minutes of straight onslaught done perfectly is crazy, lunacy even
Of course that isn't to say that I can handle the patterns 😄
I love the fact that yukari didnt even bother,it may not appears to be but,according to the lore yukari was just passing time all the spell cards that you see here,are merely 20% of her power,she is also known to play with her food,but she didnt managed to eat marisa in first place,she was just...passing time,and yes she is strong as fuck

Well, almost all the touhou characters do that, they don't show the full potential of there power , even now there are character that are way more poserful than yukari and she can't eat marisa because is a rule that exist in that gensokyo , if you eat a human you will be kill by Reimu

GUMPAAflux pretty sure lots of youkai in gensokyo eat humans, and yukari supplies them by pulling them from the outside world. but I forget where I read that so take it with a grain of salt

This stage really tested my skills from when I first played EoSD when the hitbox patch didn't exist because of half the time I couldn't even pay attention to the hitbox if I wanted to A.hit anything or B. see what was coming.

After watching this video, I realized that 80% of Yukari and Phantasm is just a buffed Ran and Extra

Phantasm,as ZUN said is the true "Extra" stage.The Extra stage with Ran is just nerfed Phantasm with Yukari.
Interestingly, some of it feels like a *nerfed* ran. Her third spell shows that well.

It is in Ran's fight(though under a different name)
Border of Life and Death is the final, most ruthless test of your skill, and Danmaku Bounded Field is your reward for passing that test. Relatively simple, but insanely beautiful spellcard that Yukari graces you with for entertaining her.

Something I noticed with Bounded Field 'Boundary of Life and Death' (second last spell card) 11:32, is that yukari won't move all the way to the edge if you influence her movement, and if you pull her to the left, you can sit in one spot and create a static lane for yourself to get through the mentos much more easily

Seriously? I suck at this game and capture that one every time. You just sit at the edge when it's blue then spin around in the middle when it's red and repeat. The sound even tells you exactly when you need to move.

The Prismriver Sisters seem to always give me trouble for some reason. I'm not sure what it is, but I think it's how the patterns are organized. They're really strange in my opinion.

Honestly, I think it has something to do with how your mind works.
Touhou seems like the kind of game where being good at it relies more than other games on natural predisposed talent.
Which isn't a bad thing, I'm personally not nearly as good at Touhou as +maulerfranco666 here, but I still have a ton of fun playing it.
