    I daily drove a 2003 DE 350z for 2 years, I loved the car but man oh man do you forget how comfortable a proper sports car can actually be, I was 19 when I first got the car and now being in my early 20s having sold the car it’s fun and amazing but practicality really gets in the way when you plan to use the car to commute, especially far. the transmission can feel ehh at times at low rpm’s especially in traffic situations moving at 10mph and etc. I agree how the transmission also makes you feel like you need to push the clutch in and drive the car fast you really do feel it in this car, it doesn’t enjoy being cruised at low speeds for long periods of time, but this car is amazing when you can go fast and I suppose that’s why you are even looking into this car, but all in all, this car is an amazing daily driver and only left me stranded once bc of the clutch going out which is regular maintenance and other than that the car has never done me dirty. Kept the engine stock it whole life and never went wrong, went to a 2014 wrx hatch and I love it :)

      @@korylafland8325No, I got my reckless driving out when I had my first car and my FRS, When I had the Z I wanted to truly take care of it and not abuse it. That's exactly what I did with my 350z, the clutch was going out regardless because I took it to my mechanic who is a family friend and also very trust worth with his work and told me before hand that the clutch needed to be replaced because it didn't have much life left in it, and I understood that and got as much miles as I could out of my clutch, lasted me like one whole year and about half of another, the transmission also wasn't in the best condition also, which is the most common thing to out in 03 350Z DE spec, the transmission synchro's were going bad and caused my 3rd gear to be sensitive and didn't allow for me to shift to 3rd fast, only slow shifts in 3rd gear all the others were good and perfect.

    Change your tyranny fluid and run Mobil one but you have to run 1 oz of friction modifier for every quart of trans fluid if you don't your 6th gear will grind when up shifting. The friction modifier gives the synchros traction so the gears stop spinning while shifting up or down.

    I daily drive a 2019 370Z sport coupe 6MT that I bought new in November of 2018. It's been a great car with no issues or problems, possibly due to the careful maintenance that I've given it with top-grade fuels and lubricants and not having abused it. The car is made entirely in Japan with Japanese sourced parts and so Nissan is able to exert more control over QA, than with stuff that is off shored to third world countries.

If anyone can help with which type of 350z is good would be much appreciated.

      Same here bro I got a z few months ago because I've always wanted it when I was younger and just decided fuck it its now or push it off more. I got an manual 05 drop top because that's my preference, but I want to say 03 to 07 is where it has the DE engines with some having the rev up engine. 08 and up has HR engine which is better I think, but depending who you ask there's debate. Either way I think any year z is fun as hell to drive

    • @JohnnyB.
      @JohnnyB.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey Samuel, great question! So they're all very similar with just a few cosmetic/performance upgrades as the years go on. 03-04 regular DE motor: 287HP. 05-06 Manuals get the Rev Up motor: 300HP. 07-08 models get the HR: 306HP. Each time they changed it, they also set the RPM red line to 500rpm more than previous years. 03-04 getting 6,500, 05-06 getting 7,000, and 07-08 getting 7,500. Also, if you're planning on changing maps/flame tunes, look for a non-base model with steering wheel cruise control buttons. The base model(my car lol) is the only model that has no buttons, and I am unable to change maps as they usually set it to the cruise control buttons. There is plenty more to add, but this is a solid starting point! Thanks for tuning in bro!!🙏

    I wouldn't call your commute busy. Want to try busy, drive on the 405 and 5 and 118 in California at 445 pm, watch your temp gauge raise when it's 108 out, that's busy. Your commute looks heavenly.

    Nice video! I’m here in SD too, just saw an 06 350z roadster GT with the 6 speed 100k miles asking 9k for it. Thoughts on the revup version? Thanks

    • @JohnnyB.
      @JohnnyB.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! My RevUp burns a good about of oil, and I just need to top it off about once per week, but other than that it's been a great car. Not all of them burn oil, so you may find a special one. As far as power goes, the HR and RevUp feel pretty similar, haven't had the chance to drive a normal DE yet though. Make sure to check the oil when the car is cold and see the cold start. If the car is warm when you get there, it could be hard to view the oil level, and they could be hiding something! 100k miles is fairly low though, mine has 94k and runs like a champ while just keeping up with regular maintenance! Appreciate your comment Jake! :)

On the 350z forums there are a few guys 6'7 and 6'9 that drive Z's. They had to get low profile seat brackets but it seems to work for them! Also, the roof has a nice bubble in it for extra headroom.
