Thank god for these men and women who want to practice trauma medicine! My neighbor was a trauma director at a level one trauma center here in California. He is retired in his 70s and misses being a trauma surgeon. He loved helping people and fixing them when they were at their most sick and injured. He got a huge high from saving someone’s life and got numb to death as it was a part of his job that really sucked!
Being a Trauma Surgeon/Nurse/EMT/Etc. is an unfair job in how staff are expected to save patients who have too many things wrong with them to have any sort of chance of survival, but still do their jobs to the best of their ability. It has to take a special breed of person, because I sure do not possess that sort of toughness!
My papa is still a trauma doc at 69! 😂 he’s more deaf than a old donkey but he sure knows what to do and how to make you feel better, he’s got some crazy stories on his belt.
Curtis sounds like he has a true heart of gold. I would be happy to be his neighbor any day! I may volunteer at a hospital and working outpatient surgery and I love it so much and appreciate every role that every associate has. Great story and best wishes to you all.
A trauma can be a real wreck after a trauma victem has been treated. Thanks for the janitor. If it was not for him, it would be difficult for the medical staff to perform their duties. Thank you very much, God bless you.
Meredith Miller I live in Cleveland 75% of its perfectly safe but there's a 10 square mile area just east that's really bad. I've been robbed 2 times before there

I would think that the janitors would be better equipped with protecting themselves by using a face shield, protective gloves. Why doesn’t he have a mop instead of using a napkin to wipe up the floor/s. Am I simply missing something ????
I work in EVS at my local hospital. Some stuff isn't allowed to be used in most ORs, but ever hospital has different policies. We aren't allowed to use brooms, dust pans nor dust mops in OR rooms. Also, using a paper towel to get the blood/body fluid up first keeps it from spreading all over the floor. We would then go behind that with a flat mop with an industrial grade disinfectant. We also do terminal cleans as well as ARTZ OR when called to. And as far as face shields and Ppe, we don't need them. We come in after a surgery is finished and everything is settled. Nothing should be splashed around in order to get in our eyes or mouth. The only time I wear PPE is when I'm terminal cleaning and OR room or using a NIMBUS machine when we clean regular patient rooms.
I hope there's laws in Ohio that force reckless drivers and perpetrators of gun violence to perform community service in trauma centers, because if the custodial staff have to endure such trauma, then people who were the problem in civilized society need to pay their debt by working as the solution.
This!! Classes on sanitation and having someone supervising making sure everything is sanitary. This would definitely make some people come to their senses
@@somethingiconicig3967 I'd be traumatized enough seeing heavily injured, bloodied bodies and having to take the remains of the dead to the hospital's morgue.

@@somethingiconicig3967 Agreed. The state of Florida has a law that makes reckless drivers perform 120 hours of community service in trauma centers or hospitals that regularly receive accident victims. Sadly the law doesn't seem to improve anyone's driving, but hopefully enough offenders are getting a good first hand look at the consequences of their actions.

I just think it’s so sweet that Curtis says a prayer for the person while he cleans up the room. 😞❤️

In Cleveland you've got guns, in Dayton you've got drugs. Welcome to Ohio.
Good thing I never made it out of the airport in either Cleveland or Cincinnati.
I don’t get it, why would criminals move to Ohio. It’s cold, like bruh, go somewhere else.
Thank god for ppl like that..

i'd expect this in LA or something but Cleveland geez

Why would he use a mop when that takes so long to dry and there could be another trauma in the same room?

Best EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT in the City of Cleveland, UH Main Campus.
Brigitte Blackburn Best Emergency is probably Metro since they specialize in trauma but to go to metro you have to be in bad shape
Heroes work at hospitals!
Wait what.. armed security guards in a hospital?
A lot of hospitals have them. Mine does.
Luckily. I would rather have them, than not.
Yeah, there’s been hospital shootings
Is Trauma treatment free? How are the funds managed?
The OR staff needs graduate also
Exciting atmosphere
I thought Metro was the only Level 1... Interesting
Humanity at its worst
This is outrage journalism. This is actually a beautiful testament to medical science. Most trauma cases are not violent.
Humanity is good but a lot people are violent
Remember it's not the gun,it's the type of people behind it.
