This man is nuts for putting that water back in that bottle... anyway, thanks for the review.

Put dirty water in the bottle. Filter it, put it back in the dirty water bottle. Got it!

i think he was doing it just to show us the colour of the filtered water, but yeah pretty weird.

He poured the water away, he didn’t drink from that bottle.

he emptied the bottle and it was merely to show the color difference.

Appreciate the review. Seems like a decent and versatile filter.
Just fyi, a filter isn’t really necessary if you are boiling the water and you should really avoid drinking out of the same receptacle that the dirty water was in. 👍🏼

Just to clarify. The reviewer put stream water into the bottle. Filtered the water into a cup. Poured the filtered water back into the original bottle that held the contaminated stream water. Some small amount of unfiltered stream water would still be in the bottle. Potentially enough to make him very ill. In theory, even if time had passed and the bottle had dried, contaminants could survive. Do NOT reuse the "dirty" bottle as a clean bottle unless you can disinfect it first.

Thanks for the review. I've just bought a couple to take with us on our travels. You never know when you might need them!

Use a prefilter like a folded up bandana or shemaugh, or neck buff. Cheap and extends filter lifespan.
As a cyclists I have one dedicated bottle for dirty water, and if water is really scarce I boil it from there or drink from the straw filtering thst bottle - Always! You will get the 💩 if you drink straight from it.

We need a bacteria test under a microscope to know if this actually works.
