    There is Alligator Creek just NE of New Braunfels. I have always wondered how it got its name. Then there was an alligator farm next to the Witte Museum in the "70s. Went there a few times when I was in elementary school. The older gentle man that was one of the caretakers told us that most, if not all, of the alligators in their facility came from the San Antonio River which surprised all of us kids.

    Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. I am originally from Oklahoma and have been in East Texas for over a year now. I will go onto say, I used to be an avid kayak fisherman, but not growing up with them and knowing they live in the local bodies of water here in East Texas, I wont lie, I have a healthy respect for them and I am now fishing out of a Jon Boat. I have not seen any while fishing, but I know it is just an odds thing and I always carry my cameras with me, so I am truly looking forward to the opportunity to do some photography with them one day. I appreciate the tips on the Bus Length you gave us as a healthy spot to stay back from, I do have zoom lenses for my cameras so that distance can be more than doubled for me. Thanks again and keep up the fun videos.
    Dale

    Accidentally snuck up on an Alligator at Galveston's State Park. Can see all the trails they leave dragging their belly over tall grass, but just turned a corner and heard the fella just jump into the water before I saw him.

    People in most parts of Texas forget we have alligators. The most resilient reptile. Survived the asteroid impact, the ice age, and good extent extinction from hunting.

      Fairy tales. Science has discarded the asteroid theory.
      It happens. A lot.

    Choke Canyon Reservoir is plum full of Alligators! There is literally thousands of them in the lake thanks to TP&W and our friendly bunny cops. There is some giant ones there too.

    Brazos Bend State park is loaded with Gators!!
    As are the lakes located Northwest of Houston.
    These lakes were once sand and gravel pits where they harvested sand and gravel to make I-10.

    It must be hard to get to where you can pet one, and walk away with all your limbs.

      I knew a girl in elementary school that had a pet gator. She basically won show and tell every time.

    Why do you not remove them and make it safer to go in the water?

    • @texasparksandwildlife
      @texasparksandwildlife  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because this is their natural habitat. These gators have been in this area longer than humans have. There's plenty of other places for people to swim and enjoy the water, but this is one of only a few remaining ideal spots for gators to live and breed.

    • @scarecrow6741
      @scarecrow6741 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @texasparksandwildlife yeah, so what? A human is 1000 times more important than any gator. I fished the Denton tx area in small waters and would have had to stop fishing because they would kill and eat me. They are huge animals that have to eat a lot to stay alive. there is no place for them here.

    • @scarecrow6741
      @scarecrow6741 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't believe that this is the only place they can live. Plus there are thousands of them. Keeping a lake safe is way more important than providing breeding grounds

    All alligators should be removed…..they do not contribute to the ecosystem at any way shape or form in my opinion.
