Oh man the Phoenix track is hard. I made it to the pitstop at lap 14 when I was running out of fuel and then 2 full laps but crashed on Derek Warwick in lap 16 from 9th place. 😁 I practiced it for hours in hotlap before I made the qualifying and race. But this is another amazing season. These truly are masterpieces and the closest thing you can get to a driving a real F1 season. And so few people know about these. Crazy. Thanks again.
Thanks man. Yeah Phoenix is a tough track. I don't always finish the race, either. It's a track where you have to be extremely cautious with overtakes. The only real spot to overtake is in the end of the main straight and the slow corners right after that. If you try to overtake on some other corners crash usually occurs. If you drive cautiously you can definitely finish the race there but it really requires some cool head. Very nice races I've had there. Cheers and have fun!
@@detonator2112 Yes it's just mentally tough to not to try to overtake but in Phoenix it's a wise tactics in those corners. It's a bit different with these than cruising past slow cars in Gran Turimos heheh. I restarted and actually finished the race in 9th place. This is the first time I actually got satisfaction for that and it almost felt like a victory. 😄😄 Great stuff.
@@SimRacer-d1f Yeah it was like the real race. Many DNF's. The best tactics is just to wait for the main straight and try to overtake there. But you have to get really close to the car in front and use slipstream. Sometimes the ai cars make occasional mistakes like Berger did in the preview video. Simply looked like he missed a gear and then you're presented with the opportunity. Patience and cool head are the keys in the street circuits. On the tight corners overtaking is often a big temptation but the risk is too big. You have to play like Prost... don't take stupid risks and collect points from every race... and leave crashing to hotheads like Senna and Mansell. 😁
@@detonator2112 Haha, wish I had a chance to overtake someone..It's completely under study this track for me. Where I'm slow, I mean I'm everywhere, but some corners are coming to me. I'm having fun with this a lot.👍
@@i9900170 You can do 1;25 at Phoenix for sure with some practice. The ai is fast which makes it great. But if you find it too fast you can open the championship.champ file with notepad and lower all driver ai ratings accordingly to match your skill. I use a lot of rear wing on Phoenix and almost minimum toe setting from "alignments". Makes the car turn easier. You def. need some fine tuning in that track but practice will get your time down. You often feel like "oh man I can never get that time" but when you really get to know the track you can cut 4 seconds off of your laps. :) In the race it's just better not to try to overtake, only on the main straight and hope that some cars need 2 pitstops to gain positions. It gets messy very easily on that circuit. Cheers.

Amizing work mate! Thanks for all your championshop setups. Have you thought about it to create the season with ASR cars? In this case we would have at least 2 models
Thanks man. Appreciated. Maybe in the future. Personally, I prefer these RSS cars but it's just a taste thing. ASR cars are very nice too. PM me at GTPlanet if you need something. Tracks, cars, etc. My nick there is Apocalypse211. Cheers mate.
I suggested to one very well known track creator that he'd do a proper free Phoenix track version. I paid 25 euros for the pay track but it needed a new ai (which is downloadable in the video description). It now runs very good.
That circuit is 1992 version of Hockenheimring which is not accurate layout for the 1990 season. The mod uses Hockenheim 1988. If you have errors, install the champs files again. Maybe there was an error in the previous files. But I double checked now that they're correct. Let me know if that fixed it. Cheers mate.
Is the rain in this season just cosmetic? Because I don't have any wet or intermediate tires available when in setup. I bought the phoenix track and I have also bought the rss 1990 v12 mod.
Yes it's just cosmetic. However the spray makes the races challenging. Only Montreal is a rain race though... as it was in the real 1990 season. If you don't have the rain DLC for Custom Shaders Patch it will be just normal race.
@@detonator2112 Thanks for the reply, I had rain in phoenix and next in interlagos it rained..don't know if I've done something wrong. I have rain in csp etc. AI is too fast for me in phoenix, haha! also I have full content manager and majority of it's dlc:s. I did now one race in phoenix and didn't finish. Just like you said, the main straight is best to overtake.
