- The weekend before the show premiered, this preview episode of "Win Lose Or Draw" aired. Host Bert Convy is joined by Burt Reynolds, Loni Anderson, Betty White and Tony Danza. Rod Roddy is the announcer. Part 1 of 2.
Burt & Bert are heavenly reunited.
I've always wondered about the editing here - at 2:10 the male contestant comes out in a blue blazer; at 2:22, his blazer is beige/tan; then he has the blue blazer back on the next time he is seen.
I remember watching this when it first aired. Because the football game that night ran long, this show was condensed to about 15 minutes so some was missing. I remember the scores being low when they went to commercial, then when the commercial ended, suddenly the women had all of this money on the board and I wondered what happened. I later realized that parts in the middle had been left out so the station could air as much of the show as possible in a limited amount of time because of the bloody long football game before it.
Rod Roddy was great announcing the show's series preview.
He was the greatest game show announcer.
I am pretty sure this is one of the pilot episodes.
This is a great preview episode. In my hometown Chicago, this used to come on after I come home from School at 3:00 PM CST before Jeopardy came on at 3:30PM CST. I really enjoyed this show when I was a kid and I wish they would bring it back.
The theme song sounds slightly different here. And this is the second game show pilot where Tony Danza and Bert Reynolds appear in the same show (1st was the 1985 Hollywood Squares pilot)
Definately the pilot. Rod Roddy announced so many pilots but often got replaced.
This always felt like the anti-game show: no flashing lights or scoreboards. I never got the sense the celebrities were having much fun either. That said, very cool to see this sneak preview.
Was this preview taped at CBS Television City?
Maybe it's just me, but this sort of resembles a pilot.
BTW, Loni's "new show" Easy Street actually debuted in 1986, and was cancelled in 1987 after only one season.
Yes it was.
I never marked an airdate on the original tape so I don't recall which day it was, sorry.
Bert Convy, #Shardai Young can't or don't learn how to draw.
And I assume WCBS in New York aired the sneak preview, too, correct? :D
Notice the contestant nametags too; they don't even remotely resemble what we'd see in the series proper.
videoarchives1000, I take it you recorded this during September 5 (or 6) on KHJ-9 (now KCAL-9). Is that right?
Yes i do remember watching this Drawing Game Show after school in Baton Rouge, LA on 4:30 pm in the afternoons on WBRZ-TV
