  • I hope this video will help you to distinguish the fake Thomastik Dominant strings from China/Hong Kong and the real ones from reputable music stores. Both were bought from Ebay for about the same price of around $40 each.
The strings look identical; hence, I did not show the strings. But after using both strings for 1 month, the fake strings did not hold up and even the A string broken and the G string sounded horrible.

If both sets of strings look exactly alike, thickness, color, winding, etc. pretty good chance they are made from the same supplier who sells to a friend who connects with the packager and together they commit fraud by selling true Infeld strings for less. Everybody knows this. The proof is in the pudding. Tell me that the so called real Dominant A will last ... how long?

I've never seen any fake dominant on the market. The only strings that i found fake is Tonica. The real tonica Pirastro is worth 20-30 dollars while the fake on is just 2-3 dollars. The packaging is still the same but the strings: !!!!!!!!!! They also imitate the tension of the original and they sound so crappy than the original. It sounds so nasally, while original sounds more consistent and warmer/ excellent. U can find this on internet heheheheh
