I watched a nunfancy video a while back and he said he’s never seen anyone edc a st 300. It’s nice to know I’m not the only person on the planet who carries one. Love the sheath you have for it, and thanks for sharing your story.

Good vid. I would send it back to Leatherman. They will either fix it or replace it. Cost about $10 shipping. They are good and they will repair it if you ask them to return the same tool. I sent one back and they were very good. Takes about 2 weeks.

Just got my new super300, sent my 15yo super 200 because of twisted screwdrivers. Old one was still tight af, sharp, all perfect really. Nothing like this video. Their customer service is ace, didn't even ask for receipt, just payed for shipping to the representer. Love leatherman

I jjst bought a super tool 300 a couple weeks ago. Looks the exactly like yours! Doesnt look like Leatherman changed anything. Its a good tool. I like the fact that its a robust multitool. I think the pliers are great. There is a small wrench you can buy to tighten your mounts! That way you dont mar up your tool.
I was using my file for a purpose your not supposed to use a file for. And it snapped off. Kinda wish the file was a little thicker.
My dad has had his supertool for years! His is loose also. He has had his for over 20 years and still uses it everyday at work! Leatherman makes good tools!

You can use vise grips to tighten the screws.
You could cut a notch on the screws and make them flathead screws. It'll probably violate the warranty though.
There are wrenches for those screws on ebay and the multitool forum. Perfect fit. They will not damage the fasteners, and will make the process easy.

I own so many Leathermans and ironically the two I thought I would like the least - the Super Tool 300 and the OHT are two of my favorites.

Cover your multi tools with canola oil or veg oil.
Itl be oily for a day or 2 but it won't rust.
I use my leathermans hunting and saltwater fishing amd regular fishing never had any rust I got the plain stainless steel.

The loose main hinge joints being all broken in and allowing me to flip the tool wide open with one hand and get right to work is my favorite feature of my 300. I have been carrying it for many years now, daily, and the one handed flick of the wrist it where it's at.

Leatherman Charge EDC since 2012 and still tight and rattle free. Have been abusing them in building maintenance and in construction works.

Great video! I own a Surge, Classic ST, Wave +, and Rebar, as well as a Skeletool CX, and Juice CS4, (plus a bunch of little ones,) but I'm thinking of getting an ST 300 for EDC, (I'm currently carrying my Rebar,) so this video was on point! I subscribed to your channel as well. Looking forward to checking out more videos!

I little tip I did was to cut a line in the rivets with the dremel and used a flat head driver to unscrew them, it doesn't look great but it works and a quick fix for them wobbly plier heads grab a hammer and a rounded off chisel or punch, lay the plier heads flat and give the pliers pivet and gun tap in the middle it'll tighten them right up.

I have the '300. Got it last summer. Since a good friend of mine died, he had rent houses and livestock, I don't use my '300 (or my other tools ) like I would. But in the past after I bought my first Leatherman, I used that tool almost everyday. Sometimes 2,3 times a day! Won't buy any other brand. I like Leatherman.

  • @elderfunghi7922

Those annoying fasteners are made to be unscrewed with leatherman pliers. So you can tighten those pretty easily using two other multi tools.

Gabe 210 I would go with a super tool 300, they have a little over 1 inch of grabbing power and I use mine at work all the time, never failed me yet.

  • @jimmyarmijo792
    @jimmyarmijo792 6 ปีที่แล้ว

But the only beef I have is when I'm using the pliers those two lock release levers get in the way of my fingers when I operate the pliers. However on later models, the company rounded the edges. I an glad about that. My very first Leatherman did not have that. That made it hard on the hands cutting wire or using the pliers. Overall if I don't loose it, it's gonna be a good-not-so used tool.😉

    Have you tried a swisstool?
I had a leatherman supertool and it got replaced by warranty (thanks leatherman!) but the swisstool is much more durable.
also - from my point of view the steel is better.
nether the less - that leatherman was the multitool of joice, but not the 300 - do not buy it!

I must say, gearnut, with a title like "5 year review" it's disappointing that the only thing that made it a 5-year review was you saying you've had it 5 years.Far better would be a trip down memory lane, tool by tool--describing projects actually handled by each tool, with real-life ups and downs
