Well I for one enjoy that sawmill a sawllin! As a matter of fact, I’m tippin and sippin your way in these last hours of 2024! I won’t even get tipsy! I hear firecrackers going off here and there. We even had a thunder storm a few hours ago but the sky is clear now. It poured for a while ! I wouldn’t mind having a sawmill with all the wood around here. But there’s an Amish run band saw mill about two mikes away. Still it would be fun to have one. So HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE FUTURE BECAUSE IM AN HOUR AHEAD. Kibd Thanks for the lovely walnut and red cedar boards! I swear I could smell both as you were cutting. Squeezez fer ser and I’ll be doing tons more tippin inna morning ained your way!
Good Morning Reg....I hope you are staying warm this weekend. We have a nice warming spell for a few days, gettting around 50F (10C). Just outside of the parameter for my lady-helper. LOL
@@tractorman4461 Hi Wendell, weather forecast for my 'neck-o-the-woods' from now until next Saturday iis telling me that I won't freeze, but right at 30F to 45F spread over the week. So, I can get to do a few more things in my unheated garage . Stay well and safe for you and your Dear Lady is my wish for this week and on into 2025. Cheers, indeed!
Looks great. The Cedar here takes many years to get to any size,I have two I planted around thirty years ago. No where near the size of the log you sawed. I am looking forward to more.
Cedars are a plenty in this area. Tons of 'em in the fence rows. I still have to get to my cousins to clear a good part of one of his pastures. I meant to get it this fall, but you know how busy life gets sometimes. Oh well, this spring will be ok too. I'm anxious to cut into one of those persimmon's we got a month ago too.
Yeah I imagine deep snow would be kinda tough to work in Richard. Our old mill was under roof with all the sides open so milling was ok in snow. But then we never get the snow down here that you guys get up there. It could get pretty breezy on a real cold day under that roof though !! That was on the farm where our power unit was a 30's inline 8 cylinder Buick running in second gear. Flat belt pully was clamped on the drive shaft held by a flanged carrier bearing across the cut off frame where the rear end used to be. 54'' insert tooth circle mill, Fisher and Davis husk.
We are wishing the best for you and Gail for the New Year as well Tom. Take care and stay warm...any snow up that way to speak of yet ?? We've had a couple inches, that's it. Maybe 4'' or less.
One year per inch is the recommended air drying before use. So far I'm stacking and covering because we are planning a medium sized shed for the Missus and girlfriends to party in that will double for our butcher shop. The cedar/walnut/sassafras/pine/American elm and clear oak should finish out the interior. No framing though, the county would not let that fly.
Oh man, without a doubt it's a sweet aroma. My sisters used to sew up tubes out of old pillow cases filled with cedar sawdust for laying on the floor of our closets where kept our dress shoes. We mainly used sawdust from the old circle mill along with straw for bedding for the dairy cattle in the winter.
To make it more exciting have The Missus help. I must have missed it but why don't you raise the saw when you return it? You said that you were going to tell! Happy New Year Wendell and The Missus
Well Rick, I goofed. LOL. I've made several milling vids lately and thought this was the one where I talked about it. As I got to the end while editing I realized it wasn't this video and meant to go back and remove that text. But....the Missus come in to get me for supper and well....I forgot to go back and erase it. LOL I hope all is well with you guys and may you also have a HAPPY New Year my friend.
Enjoyed the full watch Wendell
That is gorgeous Wendell.
Good job 🎉
Thanks for another great video.
Thank you Tony, for stopping in for a visit. I know this is usually a busy season for folks running here and there...it is for me too.
Nice looking slabs, Wendell 😎👍
I thought while the weather is a little more mild may as well make some sawdust Zane. Thanks for coming by today.

I could almost smell that cedar!!
Yes, and by sawing without lubricant this time, it really had some dust flying in the air !!
Nice looking boards!! What do you do with your collection of lumber and how long do you air dry it ??

Bet the fragrance is nice!
