I just installed mine today. I have put window film on, i have painted cars and have never had issues, until today. I would recommend this be done by a car window specialist/company. Not made for diy. I had a clean garage, no fans, clean relatively new Bronco that hadn’t been in the mud. Washed it, cleaned per the video, nice smooth glass, no wiper marks. The defects under my film after install could not be removed. It was difficult to align even with 2 of us. You are Bucks ahead if you take it to a car film shop.
Hey there! We appreciate you sharing your honest opinion about the installation process. We do have a network of professional installers all over North America who are ready to help in these situations. If you haven't yet, reach out to help@getexoshield.com to see if our team can provide any assistance!
Absolutely! For now, if you need to remove your ULTRA we suggest using a steamer or heatgun to warm the film and loosen the adhesive. Starting on one corner, lift and pull the film while adding heat. You’ll want to be pulling parallel to the glass, not upwards to avoid unnecessary stress being put on the windshield. If there is any remaining adhesive on the glass after removing the film, use a microfibre with an alcohol/water mix 2 parts water 1 part 99% IPA to get the glass clean and ready for a new piece of ExoShield ULTRA!
You can! Check out this blog post that explains what you should be looking for in a coating to pair with ExoShield Ultra. www.getexoshield.com/blog/ceramic-coatings-windshield-protection
What is IPA? I typed it into a search on my computer and also asked ceria on my phone and they both came up with India Pale Ale, hmm I think you meat to say alcohol? That part where your reverse rolling the film up and putting it on the windshield with the outside facing towards the glass is totally confusing. Don't have a clue as to what you meant to tell us at that point. Is their a sticky side to the film? Do you peal off a thin layer exposing a sticky side and then flip it over? Do written instructions come with the kit?
We're referring to Isopropyl Alcohol! Sorry for the confusion. The kit does come with a set of written instructions. The part you are referring to can get a bit confusing so we appreciate you asking for clarification. ExoShield ULTRA has a liner covering the adhesive that needs to be removed before it can be applied to the windshield. If you are working alone, the reverse roll method that we show is the easiest way to minimize contamination. @@ExoShield Thank you for clarifing things so quickly, I'm now debating paying the local tint shop guy. We're setting up our Jeep Gladiator to be flat towed behind our RV and I forsee that flat windshield getting chipped alot being towed.
The tools we supply in the ULTRA tool kit are created with materials designed to not scratch the surface of the film during installation. There is a chance that the film could scratch from debris being stuck in the squeegee while applying the pressure needed to get the moisture out from behind the ULTRA. Making sure to always wet the surface of the film while you're squeegeeing will help avoid this! If the squeegee itself feels rough on the edge of the blade an imperfection on the squeegee itself could create a light scratch during the heavy squeegee passes, this is why we provide 2 squeegees in the tool kit! @@ExoShield But is it enough to keep a rock from cracking the windshield if I’m on the interstate going 75 my gladiator is a 24 it has antenna built into windshield.
I tried all of this and still not good. I am disappointed. Second time I tried to install this and still there is moisture and it seems it won't go away although I did exactly everything in this videos in both times.
Hey John! There will always be some remaining moisture under the film that needs time to cure out. If you have applied the film correctly following the steps in the video, we would suggest parking your vehicle in the sun if you're somewhere that is still above freezing temperatures. If it's cold enough to freeze the moisture remaining under the film, you should park the vehicle inside and try to keep it around room temp for at least 24 hours to allow the moisture to cure out.
@@ExoShield Thank you for your reply. I have a heated garage in my house, so the film was installed and and my car was in the garage over the past couple of days. I put it outside when it's sunny. I understand that some residual moisture might remain, but I wouldn't expect that much, as I have gone over the film at least four times to ensure there are no issues. Regardless, I appreciate that you've already sent me a replacement. However, getting the same result again seems strange. I'll leave it for a few more days, and if it doesn't cure, I'll remove it again.
