in 1982 i had a drag rail with an h2 motor in it electronic clutch, chambers 8 inch drag slick litle tiny italian forks, 220 lbs ready to ride, including wheelie bars, the clip ons were mounted on the bottom part of the triple tree, burned that castor oil in a premix , my neighbors kept askin me if it was nitro, i finally told them yes which really pleased them even if it was a lie, but they kept askin i just wanted to be left alone. that bike was so ungodly fast it make me lose control of my bowels even today ....i removed 5th gear and put in another neutral in case (and often did) i had a problem on the big end. that was almost 34 years ago these same machines conyinue to hold records in many of the 750 cc drag classes. that drag rail was light powerful , the brakes were marginally better than flintstone brakes or a last minute prayer and no brakes at all. light that slick up one time even on the street and it only hooked up , pardon the expression , no disrespect intended but i swear i looked like a chinaman for 15 years due to AWESOME acceleration and the accompanying gforce effect on my face. i can identify most of these kawasakis by the exhaust notes...when i die i want to be buried with my h1 motored s3 frame with ninja suspension and higspeed chambers I LOVE THE SMELL OF TWO STROKES ANYTIME OF DAY< GOD RIDES ONE.

TWO STROKE POWER IS PHENOMENAL jonathon they dont even begin to breathe until 7000rpm's without reed valves and with reed valves, well its enough to give me heart failure ! if there is anyone out here that truly understands nitrous injection and how it can be applied to a purpose built ported and polished hi performance two stroke motor please contact me. last week i lit my highly modified 1996 zx6r kaw on fire playi9ng with a 75 shot (wet kit) of nitrous....compression braking set up a wicked backfire through the carbs and the carbs are right on top of the combustion chambers...didnt even know the thing was on fire till i smelled the airbox burning and saw smoke_thanks to rb cycle salvage for selling me an airbox fot dirt cheap , note to self :limit the n2o to a 50 shot on the zx6r.....now i need to find a tz750 to build ....and i want to be buried on it!!! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE NITROUS/2 STROKE QUESTION....i spoke with an old guy a couple months ago who began to explain the shape and extremity of the porting of the intake and exhaust required for this application but he passed away half way through...R I P Rubert

Crap in the corners compared to the 350 wind it up coming out and it smoked them though 😆

2010 R1 makes 146 bhp stock. A tuned RD can produce around 140 bhp but with half the engine capacity ( 500 cc) - although maybe not as fast still quite amazing in my opinion.
I have always wanted one of those yamahas.When i was in germany in the army in 1986 they said i couldnt buy one because i was not an e5.Iwanted that bike so bad i could taste it!
this thing might be old, but has some scary acceleration :D

Yes.
If u like the most powerful stock-bike, then u need a Suzuki RG500. A 750´ Kawasaki (Mach III) dont have much power and the frame is really bad. But notice - a RG500 in well, good condition cost up to 10000€, a RD also.
The difference: In stock condition the RG has about ~12 Horespowers more than a RD.

how much bhp can it make & how much does it weigh ? i read that they were able to tune it up to 140 + bhp !
A bit disappointing not seeing it want to lift high through 1st 2nd?? It seemed to lack a hard powerband? My mates RG500 & my NS400 & 350LC would always be vertical lol.
anyone know what the fastest and or most powerful street legal (from the factory) 2-stroke is? my money is on the rd500, but theres 750 2-strokes out there too, so im not sure

The 500 v4's where generally detuned for street use. The RG would probably be the fastest, but a properly tuned RZ would probably beat a untuned RG.
Well of course it would. You are talking about taking a bike that is almost 30 years old and putting it up against a recent model. If the 500's where to still be produced and developed how four strokes are then the 500's would still dominate the liter bikes.
@Ashlak wow a bike with a 1000cc engine would beat a bike with a 500cc engine. you must be very proud of yourself. if there was a 1000cc 2 stroke it would obliterate an R1

223kmph and 88Hp :D ....they could put up at leest 100Hp, considering my Aprilia 125 from the same ages has 30Hp :P
you shuld have easy seen 240kph . had my 500 up to 210kph with plenty of road left and revs !

I have on of those and let me tell you this is not the sound to expect- sounds like a 4 stroke and shifting gear does not reflect the tach.
@garaldao61 sounds like a 2 stroke to me, video quality a bit shitty.
@Cheesebtrz yes we know this already , thats why I was responding to your previous comment quite a while ago mind you about it sounding like a four stroke. Maybe I wasnt clear enough. It sounds like a 2 stroke, it is a two stroke and how you can say it sounds like a four stroke is beyond me.
I just unloaded my fully restored RZ500. WHY? These bikes sound and look like a great idea, but I really never bonded with mine. I would MUCH rather ride my RZ350 or my Kaw H1 or even my little Honda CL175 ! Check them all out @ 2wheelmonster on youtube.

Too bad that beautiful beast is illegal here in the United States. Stupid emissions laws. Hell they allow us Americans to enjoy the big bad Honda CR500, why shouldn't they let us enjoy the Yamaha RD500.
