How to: change valve cover gaskets 2002 impreza wrx

in this video I show how to change valve cover gaskets on my 2002 Subaru impreza WRX. this will work for 2002-2007 for sure but also may work for other models and years. this video may also help in changing spark plugs as well.

you should replaced the half moon gasket while you have the valve cover off because you still might have a small leak i did

You can do this with engine in car? I did a clutch and forgot to take care of my valve cover gaskets while had the engine out.

Just depends on how caked on and reaching everything. I’d say 30 minutes or less per side

I did the VC gaskets and spark plug tubes in a parking lot with fading daylight, that driver side one was a handful. Left it in there and threaded the gasket in place. Couldnt figure out how to remove the cover because it was so cramped for room. Ended up selling the car which was an 06 Legacy Limited. Had oil leaks everywhere and not enough time or money to fix it myself.
