It's funny that some folks don't realize that quiet shooting requires both a can and subsonic ammo. A subsonic round without a can is still as loud as a pistol shot. It won't have the report of a standard super sonic rifle, but a 45 ACP is about what it will sound like.

I think people forget that it is a mini explosion that sends the bullet down and out the end of the barrel. and there ain't no such thing as a silent explosion.
While it can be described as an explosion it technically isn’t. The primer is an explosion but the powder inside the cartilage burns creating a gas at a very specific rate. This pushes the bullet out of the barrel and the loud sound you hear is created by two things, the gas and the bullet when they exit the barrel and hit the air. The noise inside the barrel is relatively quiet. Why do we know this? Because you put a can on the barrel and it takes away the noise outside the barrel and it makes the gun considerably more quiet.
Adam you are 100 percent right about not using subs for deer hunting Lost a good buck with those identical there in your hand I didn't know better at the time I've learned a lot about this round for deer hunting and have good success with it sense then great video

Own a 300 made by Howa - no can but cheap to shoot. 223 range brass cutdown with minimal powder and 150 gr 2nds from American Reloading - 30 cents +|- a round. I'll take it. That suppressor looks awesome. Great Video!
A guy I know loaded some 300 blackout rounds with variable reduced powder loads until he found the minimum possible powder quantities that would still cycle his AR 15. Pretty quiet.

@ A decent centre fire suppressor is typically around US$300 here in NZL they’ve been legal here for decades, with an excellent innovative local industry. The newer suppressor/muzzle brake setup is excellent where the recoil reduction is very noticeable.
I good centre fire mod here in the UK starts at around £300 and climbs from there, anything that isn’t subsonic will still give a crack from the bullet breaking the sound barrier, but subsonic can be very very quiet
If you want quiet without a can, use as long a barrel as possible and as fast a powder as possible. A 20 inch 300blk with a couple grains of bullseye launch a cast bullet will be more quiet than a suppressed 5.56 with normal ammo
You need more gas on that subsonic to cycle correctly. If your gasblock is adjustable, load one at a time, and fire. Adjust for more pressure until it locks back every time. It’ll be over gassed with supers, but not as bad if you set it with, and always use the can on subs. It adds a little more back pressure.
After my hearing test the lady ask if i was a shooter. I said yes and she said i was a lot more deaf in the left ear since my right ear was against the stock. With a can and supersonic it is still breaking the sound barrier "mach". therefore, you will still have the big crack sound "sonicboom". Take it from us old guys once your hearing is gone and replaced by 24/7 hissing/ringing it will drive you crazy.

You should have been running chrono or a Garmin that I keep telling you that you need 😳 because them 16” barrels may be breaking sound barrier. Lots of people complain that their subs are too fast. I got some .22 short for squirrels the other day. Still loud. Wild. Picked it up for the extra FPS and accuracy. If I wanted more than that, I’d use .22 quiets and those are still relatively loud without a can! Right ammo, right can. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I missed being able to load up subsonic ammo using trail boss powder especially for 44 mag! Im able to 250gr lead slugs around 840 fps and very near suppressed sound levels without a muffler, I'm able to load up some unique loads around the same fps but nowhere near as quiet as tb. If someone has thoughts on a gud replacement for TB I'm all ears.... For now!
Why i don't shoot ARs with subs, not enough ass to cycle a round unless you have an adjustable gas system. I have a silencerco hybrid 46m and my Q 8.6 blackout bolt action sounds like a pellet gun and is still devestating with that 1:3 twist. Thing is a copper meat grinder, you need to do some hunting with that round. Like to see you do a video on it.

My 300 blk rifles and pistols are quiet I moved up to a 338 spectre shooting 300 makers and it’s definitely quieter with more energy on target I nicknamed it fat guy in a little coat I was going 8.6 but ppl are having accuracy issues because of the large case capacity with subs sd’s are all over the map 338 spectre was so easy to get a perfect load sub moa at 100 sd’s are 3.1 to 4.6 which is mostly unheard of in 8.6blk
The louder the better in my opinion. Imagine going to a race where the cars were going 230 mph and didn't make any sound. Wouldn't have the same feel would it?

Hell, subsonic 22LR isn't even quiet without a can. If it still has a lot of pressure after the bullet exits the bore, then it's gonna be loud. Now. 22 aguila colibri and super colibri ARE quiet without a can (with at least a 16" barrel) and the longer the barrel, the quieter it is. As a matter of fact, a colibri is quieter than the firing pin on a 20" barrel.

Who tf said a 300 blk is quiet with subsonic ammo alone? Also, why would you buy a bolt rifle chambered in that caliber? It's an AR caliber for a reason, it wasn't developed for a "bolt gun" .
It may well be less effective than a 45acp due to the bullet design. Most .30 projectiles are designed for faster cartridges than the 300Blk, and so don’t expand properly at subsonic velocities to deliver enough energy to the target for clean kills. Would def avoid sub-sonic ammunition in 300Blk for hunting. 300Blk works best loaded with light supersonic bullets.

556,223,300 and so on..are probably the most convenient cals. Changing out the barrel with your finger in two minutes is pretty awesome.

45ACP is subsonic, and it's loud. Sub sonic doesn't mean hearing safe.

@WHOTEEWHO and suppressed supersonic might not seem loud but the sonic boom can be like 170 decibels which is definitely detrimental to your hearing.
All it does is stops the cracking “sonic boom”

You can hunt with subsonic but I don't suggest it
You can if you use the right bullet and keep it under 100 yards. I use Hornady 190 Sub-X and it’s deadly
