After being away from stitching for a while, I was in a hurry to get "all the things" so I could start up again, and ordered some of the high quantity, low cost items. I too, really enjoy my Chinese needles. I am one of the "acidic" peeps and have had no issues with tarnishing. Thanks for doing your review!
LOL - you sound like me! when I get an idea into my head to start something, I need to have All the Things Now, but I'm also cheap until I know I will stick with the hobby :). In the case of the Chinese needles, we lucked out!
Congratulations on your finish. Really enjoyed the needle comparison. I love ball needles. But i have had 2 where the plating crumbled off. I have a gold needle from a kit that keeps going and going for over a year. Happy stitching🧵🪡
thank you! Glad the needle comparison was enjoyable :) Ooh, I didn't know the plating could crumble off the needles! Do you know what brand your gold needle is?
Beautiful finish! I prefer the # 28 John James needles because they don’t break, have a large oval eye and are easy to thread, and are easy weave in your threads on small count fabric. Thank you for doing the comparison.
thank you for chiming in! I know many people love the John James - maybe I had a bad batch, as the eye kept breaking on me after only a little use. I'll have to try them again some time. Happy stitching!
Congratulations on your tarot card finish. I am in love with this piece. Your work is beautiful and can’t wait to see it on your wall. Perfect spot. So sorry you have a migraine you’re amazing to do this video with one. Thank you for sharing your beautiful stitching, you’re amazing. 💗👏🏻🥰🌟
Congratulations on your finish tarot card, I live here in Japan but hadn’t try this tulip needle I heard it’s expensive but have no idea. Happy stitching.🧵🌍❣️
Hi Jade! Congrats on your finish of the Tarot Card SAL. Loved seeing you and Ailarra at Stitch North with Dragons of the Sabbat. Love that you are keeping up with the Flower of the Month SAL as well, so pretty. The Colosseum is looking great, such nice progress this month on it as well. Your stitching is always so amazing, so many projects and so many stitches. Thanks for sharing the needle comparison. My favorite needles were the original ball-tip needles. Since they were sold to Sullivans, I have trouble with them becoming sharps as the ball wears out. I have some of the originals still from Mila (the gal who came up with them) and the balls are still intact. I do like the EdMar needles quite well. I am not impressed with the Pony/Singer needles. I also have issues with them tarnishing. I tried some Chinese needles and am not impressed with them as they tarnish quickly and I normally do not have tarnishing issues (although my body chemistry may have changed). I used to love the John James gold needles but cost is definitely an issue with them and the ball-tip needles. Mila used to sell the ball-tips for $1 each. I like 28 shorts the most and, of course, you can't find them anymore. Hope your daughter does put the thread drops in the shop. Happy stitching. Dawn in Texas
hi Dawn! Thank you so much! I am trying to keep up with the flower SAL but haven't yet done May's - I'd better get moving as they always take longer than I think they are going to LOL. Ooh, I don't know the EdMar needles, will have to check them out. I didn't know the balls can come off the balltip needles! Definitely a PITA, especially when they are so costly!
thank you so much!! No need to be jealous though - I get a lot of stitches in because when I have a migraine (which is every day) I can't do much other than stitch or knit, so all the time adds up :). You have some amazing progress of your own!
My favorite needle depends on what I’m stitching. My favorite for full coverage or 1x1 is dmc 28s (ones about an inch long) which work wonderfully (until the eye inevitably wears out & breaks). They also do well for fractionals on Aida. I tried a John James 28 and its pack is currently at the bottom of my backup pile so I may have been unimpressed. I’ve got piecemakers 28 to try, but 2 packs of dmc to work through still. My next favorite needle is whatever comes in kits. The eyes are big enough to not need needle threaders, usually pretty sturdy. I don’t know why these feel better than store bought 24s or 26s. I save every kit needle and lament when they eventually break. These get used when I’m doing 14, 16, 18 count size projects (or 2 over 2). The worst needles are my gold plated dmc needles. I must have a bad pack, the eyes are terrible to thread & shred my floss. They’re stuffed under a pile of stuff in my supplies in case I run out of good needles. I don’t seem to have bending or tarnishing issues typically, I break maybe 5 needles a year so I seem to be super gentle on them. I rarely buy needles as my kit needles generally are plentiful enough to keep me satisfied. And when it comes to krenik…you know those upholstery needles with large eyes? Yea…I’m not fighting regular needles. (Some krenik works with regular needles like kit needles, some needs the upholstery needles.)
thank you so much for this! I really appreciate hearing how people choose their needles. I did hear that you should use a dedicated needle for Kreinik because it damages the eye - don't know if this is true, but I will try the upholstery ones. I do like the kit needles too, and find them very similar to the needles I buy from China - they're stainless steel, don't tarnish, and have a big enough eye that it's easy to thread the needle. Happy stitching!!
@310Stitcher no idea about krenik ruining eyes. I've noticed some krenik #4 braids are much more pliable than others. Krenik 032 is rougher than 028 which is much more pliable. The glow in the darks are almost plastic-y, 024 is pliable, 3533 is absolutely miserable to pull, but the effect is absolutely stunning. So every krenik is different. #8 and #12 braid I've got no experience with so I can't comment, blending filament is a nuisance, but depending on the use it's worth using.
Hi Jade, lovely stitching as always. I really enjoyed your needle comparisons, I also wondered whereabouts you get your cxc cones from. I don’t seem to see any on the China site I have been shopping on, although I do have the needles. 😊
Congratulations to your finish! ❤ And amazing progress on your wips! Do you have a link to where you bought the floss cones? And is it more like dmc or fluffy like cxc?
thank you so much! I appreciate it :D. The floss cones I bought are a bit fluffy like cxc. I purchased them on Aliexpress at the WUTU2 Store. Let me know if you can't find it and I will get the link. :)
Thank you so much for your kind shoutout! That was so nice of you :). Your full coverage pieces are amazing and so inspiring! Thanks for the needle comparison! I will have to try Bohin now. Where did you purchase the needles from China? I'm curious!
Thanks so much! The needles I showed came from China via Amazon, here: www.amazon.ca/gp/buyagain?ats=eyJjdXN0b21lcklkIjoiQTNCOUpJRVZSSTlQOFMiLCJleHBsaWNpdENhbmRpZGF0ZXMiOiJCMDkxQlFTOFc3In0%3D&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_bia_item. The ones from Lithuania which are almost the same are these: www.etsy.com/listing/617756809/10-300pc-needle-size-28-gold-eye I’ve also ordered these but haven’t used them yet (they look identical to the ones via Amazon): a.aliexpress.com/_mNBxduw
I think ball tip needles are awful. The eye is so tiny it legit shredded and snapped my thread trying to thread them. ALSO when you accidentally stab the wrong spot that small pop sound and slight resistance to pull it back out is SO annoying!
I agree with you about that "pop" sound and the resistance! didn't even remember that until you mentioned it. I haven't had trouble threading them, but I guess that's up to our eyes and hand/eye coordination as well. No way can I thread it when I have a migraine

Tarot looks lovely, woohoo! And thanks for the needle comparison. Must check out the multicolored dragon thingies!!
thank you so much! I'm so happy to have it finished - it looks better than I was expecting, so that's fun!
Congratulations on your finish! You have made amazing progress on your projects so far this year! Your daughters stuff is so cute!
Thank you so much! xx
Congratulations on the tarot finish 👏 looks amazing x
Thank you! 😊
Congratulations on your finish! Thanks for the needle comparison! I've never compared needles, but Bohin are my favorite! 💝
thank you so much! The Bohins are excellent all around needles :)
Your Tarot cards look so good! It is amazing how you stitched your Dragons of the Sabbat. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
thank you very much! The Dragons is a labour of love LOL, but I can't wait until I get to actually stitch dragons!
Congratulations on your finish. Really enjoyed the needle comparison. I love ball needles. But i have had 2 where the plating crumbled off. I have a gold needle from a kit that keeps going and going for over a year. Happy stitching🧵🪡

Congratulations on your finish! I've never done a needle comparison but Bohin are my favorite. I buy them in bulk when I can. Happy stitching 💜
buying them in bulk is a good idea! Where do you get them from?
@@310Stitcher I've gotten them from a couple of different places, most recently grace notes fabrics has them 50 needles for $15.
Thank you so much! You are too kind - please don't look at my stitching too closely LOL!
Congratulations on your finish tarot card, I live here in Japan but hadn’t try this tulip needle I heard it’s expensive but have no idea. Happy stitching.🧵🌍❣️
thank you so much! I want so badly to visit Japan one day :)

Tarot cards look great. I also love the monthly flower sal
thank you so much! that reminds me I'd better get moving on May's flower LOL
Great finish on your Tarot Cards. Thanks for the needle comparison, I appreciate you sharing your insight. Happy stitching!
Thanks for watching! Happy stitching!
Congrats on the FO, it looks amazing! I'm enjoying the progress that you're making. You're able to get so many stitches in, which I am jealous of.

Love all your stitches now to see Canadian flosstuber . I buy my ez needle from charting creation in Nova Scotia not as expensive and
thank you so much! I've never tried an ez needle - will have to check it out!
Did you try "Tulip" needles? They're so strong and smooth easy to tread. They're made in Japan.
I have not, but you're the second person to mention them - I will have to find some and try them out!
Hi Jade, lovely stitching as always. I really enjoyed your needle comparisons, I also wondered whereabouts you get your cxc cones from. I don’t seem to see any on the China site I have been shopping on, although I do have the needles. 😊
Hi Carol, thank you so much! I got the floss cones from the WUYU2 Store on Aliexpress. Sorry I can't link it - my computer is being stupid.
Congratulations on finishing Tarot Card.

Hey, I'm confused, did you forget to add pictures?
You mentioned several times you were going to show something but then I never saw them
I’m so sorry - the pictures didn’t work! I added them but they disappeared in the final video. My apologies.
