  • One of best way for growing cucumbers to get the maximum production in less time Right at home.
    Growing cucumbers vertically upward on the string. trellis is one of the best ways to save space.
    Pruning two to three lower leaves at the bottom helps prevent less bugs and disease..
    To get a faster production, you have to remove at least 1 to 2 ft of the Cucumbers side shoots also known as the sucker , which is located between the main stem and the leaf. but be careful , besides shoots is behind normally in front, you'll find a male or female flower. do not remove those..
    Water cucumber plants every 1 to 2 days .
    Fertilizer cucumber Plants every 2 weeks to keep it healthy..
    Make sure to harvest on time so you don't slow down the production. Harvest your cucumbers anyway from 5 to 8 in Harvest before your cucumbers are turning white..

    You are an inspiration! Thank you.
    I have a large garden of grow bags (my native soil sucks) and between bad health (heart, and more) and the really high heat and humidity here in the Syracuse, NY area, I am way behind this year, so far.
    Your videos help motivate me to keep going and get it done.
    Keep up the good work!

    Always harvest early and often with cucumbers. He's right, if you let those first ones over ripen, it's gonna halt production.
    He's also right about the watering when it's hot this time of year. At the very least, keep that top layer moist, so even just a little everyday is good. They're usually more thirsty than most veggies, plus ya gotta keep those microbes happy!

    You must have a TON of bees or pollinators. Not so here in TN. Mine are on a trellis. Same variety, straight eight, twice as thick but same height. So far we've gotten 3, and there's 2 on the vines right now. Very frustrating. Ive started trying to hand pollinate hoping that will help. Not sure what else to do.

    • @Greentgarden
      @Greentgarden  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So so much to hear and yes I do have lots of bees 🙏🏾 my sunflowers bring some tons of these.. definitely if you try hand pollinate it will help a lot. Also do some light pruning on the lower leaves.. Make sure to keep fertilizing and water to keep the plant healthy and eventually it'll produce a lot more... Thank you for sharing with us. I hope you have some bees to help. Try planting some sunflowers or lavenders

    Recently, I'm trying to feed every week, as I read that cucumbers are "super-feeders". I am on the second week of it, so no conclusive report RE efficacy is available yet.
    I'm seeing more and more lantern fly nymphs around the vine and leaves; sigh. Just killing manually. Worried they are contributing to some plant deaths I've had (two). I started with 8 (actually bought nine, but only 8 made it home) plants to distribute through 2 "grow boxes". Following their planting pattern, I was going to put 6 in one (dubious, but okay), and 3 in second box (what I assessed the growing area and reservoir can accommodate). Promptly, two died from the denser box, leaving three--they were smaller, but I think I did not realize how much smaller; I think they had not been properly hardened-off, and I did not have the judgment born of experience to realize it.
    About 9-9 days ago, we suffered a pretty devastating groundhog raid on the lower box; following that one of the vines started with an "organic, whitish show" near the base that you only see when you notice all the leaves have wilted. I think it suffered animal damage (or insect) that allowed a disease or mildew to take hold. In the second box, one of the plants also succumbed, though it is on a whole different level (two-floored deck). This supports the insect-related hypothesis, or, I realize, I may have spread the disease myself, as I was only clean my pruners once a day, before storing them.
    Well, I digress. I'm getting about 1-2 fruits a day, so there is that. And my first tomato started ripening, finally.
    I am very curious about your lower-height cucumber trellis in front. And what, if anything you are thinking of doing for a superstructure to support the vines beyond 7'. Some of mine are already beyond that height, and I have a simple 2" x 2" spanning my posts for the only thing up there; it seems to me that it will have the vine trail at too sharp an angle; I don't want to pinch flow or promote breakage. Is it your experience that your vines will not reach much higher than the trellis you are currently using?

    • @Greentgarden
      @Greentgarden  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm very sorry to hear all that but I'm really happy that your tomatoes Are getting ripe. on the trellis once the plant reaches 7 ft I kind of guide it to come back down...
      I missed 2 days in the garden. The only thing I did was to water today. I realized I lost couple plants like my sunflower got broken the heavy wind and thunderstorm last night and it's still windy today..
      Heading in the garden right now. Trying to fight some bugs and weeds. Also have to tie a lot of other plants...
      Thank you all this for sharing with us and I will do an update video on the Cucumbers and the tomatoes as they're growing too...

      @@leesteal4458 removing the part that makes more leaves, once the plant is at certain height it will struggle to maintain fruit production and new growth so inevitably the plant will die off, might as well cut that top that will never see fruit production off focusing the plants energy more into making the fruit bigger and riper. i recently did this with my squash plant and it had one singular squash on it and it’s the biggest summer squash i’ve ever grown, lmk if u wanna so before and after pics 🤣

      @@coachtim6188 close, it focuses the plants energy into the fruit instead of making new leaves and maintaining the leaves, it takes a lot of energy to maintain a pretty leaf day by day, if the leaf is no longer in stable condition to aide the plant there is no problem with cutting it off, more energy to spend into using for fruit growth
