I found this hotel incredible. I stayed in 2014 and it is great to see this hotel after the last hurricane that ended up hitting the island. I still want to go back to that island and this hotel. Thanks for sharing this video.
We love your St Maarten videos! We are getting married at the Sonesta (April 2020, now postponed) and your videos have been awesome for our guests!! We were there in Sept 2019, and all your videos have been spot on (You will need to go back and try supper at Lava Grill!)
Thanks so much, and sorry to hear your wedding has been postponed. These are nice resorts - so I hope you and your guests have a great time. I'd love to give that a try next time.
Stayed here December 2019, and it was so unique 🥰 only have 1 other beach resort to compare to (Cuba), but it was something I'd definitely go back to. It got a little crowded (late December, week before Christmas so peak season) but nothing too bad. We were able to get seats during certian times of the day, swam in the ocean with no one around during the day, and our group tour (off the resort) was private because of some cancelations! The food was everything and more i could ask for. I still talk about the appetizer bread from the point restaurant! Just as soft as the sand in the beach 🥰
It was definitely a lovely resort! When we went in February it was a bit crowded too. That's great that you got a private tour off the resort. I hope to return one day too, St. Maarten is a beautiful island.
Great tour! We are thinking about going there next March! Was there a pool bar with chairs/stools in the water? Also the casino looked quite small. Did it go back further than just the entrance part?
Thank you for the videos, I'm going in the next week and there wasn't much content except yours. So the timing as perfect! Given you were there during the initial Coronavirus outbreak, did you see any issues in terms of having food and drinks availability? Carribean islands are generally pretty self sufficient, I like that the Buffet staff is serving the food so no one is touching it. That will help a lot. Thank you for the videos and look forward to your overall review.
Glad it could be helpful. We didn't have any issues for food or drink availability. The staff were serving everything so guests didn't spread their germs and there were purell stations around the resort.
We have stayed at the Sonesta Maho on eight occasions from 2001 and as recently as 2019. This is a brand new resort due to renovations because of Hurricane Irma, they stripped the hotel bare in 2018. This is a beautiful resort, great rooms, love the pool, kids area is amazing our 3 year old loved the kids pool and slides, love the entrance bar and slots, very friendly staff and I think the food at the resort is great. The beach is amazing especially at low tide, Sunset Beach bar is close by as well as the airport runway and airplane takeoffs and landings. . The Ocean Terrace buffet restaurant was better back in the day, style wise anyway. Sonesta Maho and the surrounding area generally has a great vibe. We really enjoyed your review of this resort.
@@TheAverageTourist Hi there guys I returned this time Feb 6th. I was there for 11 or 12 days. Been to St Martin many many times I hear it's pretty much shut down at the moment. Like most of the world i suppose. Looking forward to going back for a visit real soon. And I hope you will all come back to SXM for another visit..
@@ron777ish yeah I was on the website for the resort and it's been closed. I really liked St. Maarten. We were there on a cruise stop before but this was our first time we spent a week exploring the island. Can't wait to go back one day.
In addition to the resort itself, would be helpful to also include what's nearby that tourists would benefit from such as nearby restaurants (not on-premise restaurant), activities nearby since most tourists do not have a car, walking distance to ...what else.
I'm planning to do a couple's trip to this resort in June. The price difference between the standard and the adult only resort was astronomical. Do you think we can still have a great couple's experience while staying at the family friendly (Standard) resort, or do you think we should shell out for the adult only experience?
I'm not sure what your travel style is, or preferences. We went in February and it was quite busy and lots of kids surprisingly. We still had a great time, but the adult only side has a lot of perks... 2 private pools, it's much quieter, all rooms are said to have a nice views, less worrying about the slow elevators (like in the family side) more dining options, premium alcohol, and you get to use all the amenities at the family resort. But on the other side, we still had a great time at the Maho resort and our room was great. It really depends on the type of experience you want. We are middle of the road travellers, but I'd consider shelling out the extra money next time personally because there were a LOT of kids running around the 1 pool (and no matter which resort you go to, there is no resort beach area, it's all public beach there). Hope that helps and happy to answer any other questions you have.
Funny. I stayed there when was older place. Was looking forward to re-do. BUT dont like the feel of new reno. Feels cold. Stark. Like your in the city. Not for me. Thx for the video
Happy to share. I hadn't been before, but it did feel a little different than other resorts we've been to (we liked that though for things to do nearby).
Lovely place, but I'm confused. Didn't see any masks so assuming this is pre-Covid, but why were they not allowing guests to get their own food at the buffet??
I posted some room tours as well. Resort didn't have nightlife unless you went to the casino. The bars we just regular bars, nothing exciting (swim up and walk up at pool, lunch bar and over by adults only area)
@@TheAverageTourist I read on the resort's web site that there's entertainment in the evening - like a theater-type show. Is this not the case? Also wondering if there's more to the casino than what was shown in your video - it seems like there's not much to it.
Awesome tour! Looks great!
Thank you!
going in May 2024 can't wait!
Have an amazing time!
This resort ❤❤❤ the grounds are so pretty and the beach looks like absolute paradise. The sunset footage was so relaxing. The iguana by the pool 😂
Yes it was a nice relaxing vacay before all the craziness started in the world.
Wow! This is amazing 🤩 beautiful pool and I love the loungers on the beach. Must be beautiful to have some sundowners out on that deck.
Looks spectacular! That pool with bridge going over it and iguana having a sip!🦎☺️
Haha yeah the iguana was a funny little thing.
I surely miss resort life. Looks so relaxing!
I miss it too!!
What a beautiful resort!! Would loved to stay here, thanks for the tour. Will consider staying here when in the area happily!

This resort is amazing! My daughter would love the water slides and the play room. Thanks for sharing! 🥰
We really enjoyed it!
Wow! Such a beautiful place to stay 😍The views from it look spectacular!
Yes, definitely great views 👌
The resort is superb. Lots of amenities. I love the outdoor pool areas !! Plenty of space . Luxurious . 😊

I agree! Really liked it. 🙂

Soprano piano bar.. the best place!😴😴😴
We never went to the piano bar. Maybe next time!

The beach house is looking so nice, it's a beautiful hotel and love this tour! 🙏 Makes me want to go back to resorts 😉
Thanks! I can't wait to go somewhere when its safe to travel again.
That pool area looks so fun! I can’t believe they have an indoor slide too.
Okay, now we need to book a beach resort vacation! 😂 it’s all so beautiful!
Have been there several times before hurricane. Miss it so much! Hope we can get back soon!
It's such a nice resort. I hope to get back there one day too.
Can't wait I'm going in Sept for my birthday.

How’s the beach? Is it rocky? White sand?

Thank you! It's a lovely property there, and everything is new due to Irma's devastation. Great vacation spot for sure.
Are there activities like jet skies, snorkeling ?
Does the planes fly over this beach?
When was it you were there? I heard they were closed? I was there in Feb and it seemed busier.. Was that your first time?
We were there February 16 to 23. It was full from what we were told from staff. Yes it was our first time there, what about you?

It is

This was right at the start of covid when people weren't wearing masks - we got back just 2 weeks before everyone went into a lockdown here in Canada.

It didn’t show not one bedroom
I did a room tour separately to show the room we had specifically
why no one is swimming at the beach? is there any entertainment during panademic
