Well, as you've probably gathered I'm on a bit of a marathon 😂 trawling through your excellent videos. I didn't notice you using Charvin in many paintings in the last couple of years. I guess there's really a wide choice , one has to draw the line somewhere 🤔
lol, thank you!! The materials I used on a day to day basis are in the description. This line of paint was sent to me by Jerry’s Artarama, they wanted me to test drive their house brand paint, and so I gave them a try! They were not bad for anyone on a budget, they were decent, it’s just that I have my favorites: Golden HB, Liquitex HB, and Matisse Structure, and Winsor and Newton Artist acrylics! Can’t go wrong with any of these!! Currently I’ve been working with a lot of Liquitex HB.
It would be nice to compare similar colors between Charvin and Golden to see which is better in terms of various characteristics (e.g., opacity, saturation, blending, etc...)
SteelBlueVision that’s a great suggestion! I actually prefer Golden. I can make better darks with Golden, and colors blend nicely. Charvin has some nice characteristics such as heavy body and holds its peaks and valleys, as well as a nice buttery consistency! But the colors aren’t as clean as Golden, meaning single pigments! Cerulean blue I come to find out is absolutely weak, almost useless accept to grey down colors!
wow. this review was excellent and I liked that you went extra step to look at the orange to see if it matched label... I would have liked to see that on all colors but great idea
After watching a whole bunch of your videos, I finally broke down and subscribed. Looking forward to your demo with these paints, I like the way you paint. I'm trying out Arteza's Expert acrylics, which I bought recently, so I probably won't be rushing to get the Charvin, but it's nice to know what's out there and how different paints perform.
I just opened a tube of Charvin Titanium White to mix with my pouring medium and it is coming out of the tube almost rubbery and dried up. This is the only tube I have of Charvin. Is this normal? I could not get it to mix with the pouring medium. It just had chunks.
Thanks for the review. I had to stop watching after 5 minutes because the background music is so unpleasant. Delete the music background. Irritating, shrill, distracting. Your voice and occasional silence is fine.
Really appreciate your review because I was thinking about trying Charvin & I always use Jerry's Artarama. Thx
My pleasure Peggy!!

Thank you!! Yes, I should have done others but figured if one matched, all others would also.

Sorry, never tried it!!

No, it’s not, it’s an old tube!! Get rid of it!
@@GebahiArtworks Thank you. I bought it about 2 years ago, but have just opened it yesterday.

Noted! All my newer videos don’t have any of that, moved to a quieter part of the house!
