Great interview with the doctor! It’s time to upgrade our healthcare system from 20th century to 21st century! And provincial governments need to stop pumping our taxes into private businesses and put the money back into the public healthcare system!

What if you don't have a home/ house to age in? Can we talk about aging in poverty?

Wish that there would have been a conversation about aging and poverty and the impact of that on physical and mental health. This show often focusses too much on the middle class or wealthy (celebrities) rather than the real struggles of the less fortunate.

This is a series so I would think another segment on the aging population will discuss poverty, as it affects so many people.

Very informative. I appreciate the physician’s calm delivery...could listen to him all day.

People are living longer but they are sicker. We may be living longer but requiring more healthcare as they are not healthy.

Had a stroke a few years ago. Went back to work as I couldn't pay my rent. Eventually the not for profit I worked for fired me. Totally able to do my job. I blame the pandemic and ageism. Side note during my three months home, received no support from any kind of government. Fell down making an egg! Also the stay active thing, I can't afford a gym fee on CPP and savings.

So I'm guessing like usual, the next generation will have to be the ones that foot the bill for this right

We've paid for everything you have now

@@mlg7728Which is what exactly. The inability to afford a house. The fact that there taxes benefit other generations more than their own. The fact that they can't afford to start families. The fact that the job market is saturated with older generations who still work despite the fact that they should be quite wealthy given the equity they have in their properties. The fact that the ladder has essentially been lifted on the next generation. What exactly have you done for them. I'm very curious

Let's not forget union rates being higher than they've ever been. To focus on the needs of the older generations and those who don't benefit are the ones just starting their careers who keep less of their paychecks. Let's also include Public transportation. For years theirs been no investment in public transportation allowing generation x to keep much more of their income. Who's paying for this influx of transportation upgrades, the next generation. The fact of the matter is politics for a while have been about making the lives of the current and previous generation without planning for the next generation, hence the ladder metaphor.
