Glad you got such a well-tuned MB nib straight out of the box. What a lucky lady the queen of your nights is. I never thought I'd enjoy purple inks as much as I do and MB Lavender Purple is a great one.
I can testify to the quality of the Mozart as I have a set ( fountain, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil ) that's been with me for well almost 20 years now and they have function well with no problem for all these years despite all the abuse I put to them in daily use. They fit so well into a small pen pouch that its just the perfect travel set. That said I must say I have small hands ( Man's S size for gloves ) and I can see why it won't work for most.
Great review. Having both, I find the Pelikan M300 much more interesting than the 114 Mozart. The M300 has every characteristic of a Souveran down to the materials, piston mechanism and great wet, springy nib. If Montblanc could genuinely shrink down the 146/149 mechanism to the Mozart, I'd be very impressed.
Delightful & incredibly small scribe, Stephen - cannot doubt the efficiency of same, altho', sharing hands of the 'shovel' club, there's no way I'd even consider it for myself - but as you selflessly assert, "A gift for a person who I love dearly" - if that isn't love well demonstrated, I don't know what is !! I want to hear you whistle, Lorenzo Da Ponte's, 'The Marriage Of Figaro' - (in C Minor) ;D Wonderful stuff !! :D

Something deep and philosophical with hidden meanings for those with ears to hear? Just think of think of the....

It was delivered with the original converter (I have two of them: Did eryone one need an original converter?) You can also use small cartridges like Pelikan. I love this pen and use it every day... "It writes like a dream" is the best quotation !
I have had this pen for years but rarely use. I found this pen doesn't write easily on cheap, typical copier paper like used at my work. It also is much broader as you mentioned than I expected. The thing that bothers me is it makes shrill and scratchy noises while writing (I can hear in your video too) unless I write much slower and at a different than my natural angle. I used sandpaper for the angle problem because I thought it was baby's bottom, not writing well and skipping; this helped a little. It may be I hold the pen at the wrong angle. I have a Lamy pen that works better which is disappointing. I hold pens a bit upright and push hard and write fast. Any suggestions as to how it might write better without the squeaky or scratchy noise would be helpful. Also not useful at work where it's only regular copier paper. So I only use this pen for fun or signatures.

I disagree about it having everything at 149 has. The 149 has the window to see the ink where the barrel meets the section

I got the Templar mini and it works well- the amount of ink it holds is not great, so I carry ink cartridges on trips in case the converter runs out

This is not the 144, this is the 114. I made the same mistake and went looking for a converter, 25 years after its purchase
