Well I was initially taken by the massive recruitable party! I'd never even conceived of something like that before! This was also before I had ever even heard of games where you build castles or anything like that. I'd never played a strategy game... Suikoden had elements of it all! As I started in on it I was charmed by the humor and quirk. The way the Suikoden series blends Eastern and Western aesthetic is so unique and the music SO memorable... but to answer your question: Chinchirorin. STORM!
do you know if there is any revamping of the soundtrack or if they are sticking with the originals? The original music is untouchably perfect esp the first game
So many regions and true runes left unknown... so many characters like Jeane and Viki that we want to know their true origins, etc. We missed out on SO much.
Try Exit Fate. It's a free fan-made game and it plays a lot like Suikoden 1 and 2. It's not exactly the same but it is close enough. I like it as much as Suikoden 1 and 2 personally.
I wish Capcom would give us a HD remaster of the Breath Of Fire series or even a New game or a remake, The same goes for Natsume with The Lufia series,
I just found your channel today and can't believe Lunar and Suikoden are coming back. Suikoden was another one of those 'unicorn' rpg's that I played, loved, got bored, traded to a game store, then years later chased down. Saga Frontier was like that for me too so I was very when that was remastered, rereleased. Another awesome Konami game was Azure Dreams, one of my teenage favorites but probably won't be released again unless it's combined with something.
I still remember farming a dozen double beat runes from the cut rabbits in north sparrow pass early in the game. A way to cheese it, so you dont spend too much time farming (especially if you want the best ending with Clive) is to camp out by the save crystal and relaod the game about every 2-3 encounters if you didnt get a double beat rune drop. Doing this really improved the quality of life of speed runing thr game to make it to Clives show down within the required time limit
Great video! Im playing through the OG Suikoden 1 and 2 rn for a video im making on my YT channel. Glad to see hype is building for the rerelease, im excited!
Suikoden 1-5 were all masterclass rpgs. 3/4 had some issues but were both still very good games. Shame the franchise died off after some spinoffs, it is one of the best franchises I ever played.
I am playing Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes and it such a Suikoden 2 copy in all the good ways. I can't wait for some easy Suikoden access now though.
that's SO great because I was about to replay Suikoden 1 recently and realized it was about to get remastered.. perfect timing indeed! I never finished Suikoden II on my PS1 back then so all the stars are aligned!
The biggest chore in Suikoden was moving items around between characters, dropping off and picking up items in the castle, and then making that all worse by having to go to a different floor to change characters and get access to other items, so the new system is giving me some optimism!
After the Tactics Ogre and Star Ocean 2 remakes and how amazing they were, this is the only game this year I'm excited for! Love your videos, and thanks for all the Suikoden love!
Very excited to finally get hold of this remaster. Ive loved these games since the 90s and they remain up there with some of my all time favourites. The soundtracks are beautiful
I think Suikoden II may in fact be the best all around classical rpg you will ever play.. And Suikoden I is the prequel so this new package of them seems like a keeper.. About the only flaw I remember from the originals is no new game plus.. Not sure if we’re getting that here..
I'm playing Suikoden on PSX but I'm getting really tempted to jump into Suikoden 2 because I hear so much more about how great it is. Should I beat Suikoden 1 first?
Great video- your love of the series shines through- as an American I was very excited to see someone's thoughts on why Suikoden is returning at the perfect time (agreed!)... and I guess we have very different reasons 😅
My favorite game of all time Suikoden 2. I played 1 and 2 when they first came out not knowing anything about it i bought 1 and it changed my life. 2 took it to a whole other perfect JRPG level.
Been a fan of the series since the beginning, man! Back in the day, when Suikoden II started going up in price, I had bought my second copy, for, I think $135.00. No idea what it goes for today, but yeah, was expensive back then. I certainly hope they release the full series eventually, would be a bummer to only release two parts without people experiencing it all. This comes out on my birthday, so I'm super excited for this collection. Hopefully, I can con my woman into picking me up a copy! ;)
Suikoden 3 is my favorite. I love the trinity sight system. not enough games do things like that. much hype for this release though. gonna be double dipping, pc version for play, and physical switch to have a physical
So, since you asked, 2 years ago before they went silent they recorded all new sound effect which people weren't pleased about, after that, receiving feedback, they re-recorded new sound effect to be more similar to the original one. So I'd say in the final release it'll be a mix of both.
@Xygor They listened to a lot of feedback given from the fans, for example, in Suikoden 1 players couldn't read what did runes and unite attacks do during the fight, now you can. So many little QoL that will make a difference!
@@bayareagtr5468 Yeah. Few reasons... #1 Consider Suikoden 1 like... a prequel to Suikoden 2. In a lot of ways... as in - Suikoden 2 happens AFTER Suikoden 1 and secondly - its kinda like Sonic 1 vs Sonic 3. You can tell they didn't really "figure it out" until suikoden 2. Its a much more polished game. Suikoden 1 is also only like 15 hours long-ish... so yeah, bang out 1 before 2. #2 is you get to load your save data from Game 1 into game 2 to unlock secrets. So if you want to True ending 100% it.. its mandatory
Love Murayama san work of art, been an absolute fan of Suikoden II since I was about elementary school. Now I have two beautiful daughters and wonderful wife and still playing Suikoden and even livestreaming it on the channel. Masterpiece of JRPG!
3, 4 and 5 collection should be next. 5 definitely needs a wider release. 4 could be improved with things like faster sailing and new areas. (I actually like 4 more than most fans and more than Suikoden 3)
They are amazing RPGs and I'm happy That I'll be able to finally experience them. If i could find a small flaw is they don't have the option to change the graphics to original to remastered. For preservation purposes i would appreciate having the option.🤗
Im so excited for these games. Ive wanted to play them for years. TBH even if the release isnt the best, ill still be stoked to have access to them on my switch.
Suikoden 1&2 in March and then Lunar Remastered Collection in April. 2025 is shaping up to be a good year for retro JRPG's so far. Here's hoping for an announcement from Square Enix this year for Xenogears remastered (one can wish).
Just like a kid at Christmas talking about this. Its so pure an innocent. Boy I sure hope it's as good as the pixel remasters (lol) as long as the game functions properly with these little QoL functions I see the community being really happy! (Please no auto battle, it's so lame)
Great video man. I’m happy they are remastering my favorite video game of all time along with FF6. I remember staying until 4 am because I was so hooked in this game. I’m just glad they got to remaster this gem. This game deserve to be played by gamers of this generation.
I remember working in a small local game store and customers would ask me which is better, Suikoden or FFVII....I sold them Suikoden. They were not disappointed
I love the Suikoden franchise. Even the games in the series that I don't like as much have some great emotional moments. I don't hear as many people talking about it, but I actually think Suikoden V is as good as I and II. I was hoping to get through a replay of Suikoden II so I could review it on my channel before this remaster came out, but that's clearly not going to happen - I have 11 other games to review before it! But, again, I love this franchise, I'm so excited for more people to get to play I and II with this remaster, and I'm happy more content creators will be making excellent videos like this one to show it off to more people!
I’ve been wanting this so bad since it was first announced. I hope they do the other suikoden games too. I know it wasn’t a favorite of a lot of people, but I also loved 3. I hope these sell well and it convinces the powers that be to give us suikoden 6. Although it won’t be the same without Yoshitaka Murayama.

a remaster doesn't mean the series returned unless there's a 6th game on the way, which they didn't announce, nor we received any leaks, kinda hope they do a remaster for the other 3 Suikoden games before or at least around the 6th game
I'll probably play this one. I haven't played the original because I was discouraged by the fact you have to recruit all 108 party members to get the best ending.
I won't get to play them right away, but these are high on my list. I think Suikoden 1 is a good game, but Suikoden 2 is one of those games that every time I go back and play it, it reminds me of just how good games can be. It always strikes me that modern AAA games probably spend more on their opening cut scene than Suikoden II's entire budget, but still can't make something as compelling or memorable.
I thought my alarm was going off? I had to pause your video several times before I realized what was happening 😅 🎼 (your background track has been my custom phone alarm for decades)
Play Asia store had a physical version listed coming out for PS4 EUR region. Now it's gone.😢 Will this be available for download for the PS4 via PSN store, for North America?

@efrenarevalo2025 And Suikoden 5 is the second best Suikoden, so that'd be nice.

The same goes for Natsume with The Lufia series,
a remake of breath of fire 4 a bit looking like monster hunter stories but more mature would be great
Woah this is trippy this randomly popped in my feed because I literally started playing Suikoden PS1 on my retro handheld for the first time today 🤯
Excellent!
I have been listening to the OSTs of Suikoden 1 and 2, specially 2, for about 25 years. xD

Suikoden 1/2 are TOP 5 RPG of all time. I have replayed these two more than any other RPG...that's how good it is.
