    The kids are getting more and more confident in front of that camera every time I watch. Great to see. Awesome tips as always 54OB crew 💪🎣🐉

      Thank you sir! Some of the musky purists may not want to see the kids involved, that's ok, we're gonna be a family effort! Oh ya, we love swim baits! Appreciate you watching!

      @@54orbust If a couple purists don't want it, best to do it even more to remind em what fishing is all about. Keep up the good work.

    I like seeing how you run different rigs. Gotta get me some magnets! I love the focus on the loop for direct tie - I’ve been preaching this for years - having the loop makes a huge difference on the action, especially on smaller jerks and cranks. I like the nonslip loop knot, since the tag end faces forward and is less likely to gather and weeds or random crud in the water. That’s the only reason I don’t run the figure 8. Great content Glenn and girls!!

      Thanks John! I'll try some different knots, I just like the simplicity of the figure 8, from my rock climbing days! We are really going to explore the direct tie subject this spring! Appreciate you watching, as always!

    Swimbaits are one of those baits that don't get used often enough. Great video, and great tips!!

    Great video and helpful mods to think outside the box. I really like the shallow swimming dawgs on shield lakes for newer anglers. They run high in the water column and can be fished fast or slow. They are also easier to pull in all day than blades of any size, so less fatiguing.

      Thanks for watching Kyle. Your absolutely right, a great beginner style bait, but a great bait in most situations as well!
      Deadly around weed edges at dark, which, sadly you can't do on Eagle Lake. But on Cedar and Perrault after dark the muskies inhale them!

    Great job Glen, some great ideas and helpful hints. We have been using elastic band to hold our hooks in place, which works great for us, just dont make them to tight.

      Not my idea, got it from someone along the line. They are cheap, release no problem , and esy to replace.@@54orbust

    Awesome video like always.
    Side note - Muskies will bite right through a flourocarbon leader. Also when they are head shaking to net they will wear it to shreds. It’s a matter of time before the community completely abandons the Fluorocarbon. To Save the Muskies from a bait in their throat, Fish a metal leader 100% of the time. The fish are not shy.

      I don't disagree with you, there is a chance of bite damage. Personally, I ran fluorocarbon sucker rigs with no lost hooks for over two years. But I agree, when the broader musky community sees that the risk outweighs the benefits you'll see a change.
      I may try a 49 strand crimped right to the bait to see if that mimics the fluorocarbon. Good video idea right there! Appreciate you!

    Awesome video Glenn 😎. We will have to try the direct tie this summer in Minnesota for practice for Canada in 2025!!! More ways to use my new bait we just got at the expo.

      Thanks for watching James! Swim baits could be one of the most overlooked baits in the musky world. Don't sleep on them!

      @James_vasmillionthevile 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We use them a bunch for northern since there are no musky where we go in Minnesota. A whole lot smaller though (6 inch). Will have to see if they will take the bigger profile.

    • @54orbust
      @54orbust  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Magnets from Musky Innovations or Waterwolf in Canada
      Weedless trebles from muntz angling.

    Great video, I’m a big swim bait guy on St.Clair and I’m always throwing natural colors and trying to make my baits look and swim as natural as possible and I know they have been saying for yrs to use these straight steel leaders for them but the area I fish the most has ultra clear water from time to time and I’m always afraid of the fish seeing the steel leader so I’m very interested in trying this method you showed here with straight flouro with no snaps or crimps. In my own opinion the regular magnum swim dawgs with the flexible harness looks the most realistic in the water. Two quick questions, what knot do you use to connect the flouro to braid and what brand weedless hooks are you using?

    • @54orbust
      @54orbust  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Muntz Angling weedless hooks are awesome! I use a double uni knot for leader to braid, works for use and you can feel the knot at the eye of the rod to know where your bait is. Thanks for watching!
