My first comment is WOW!!! Just wow!!! This young man's Kata is amazing. I see a lot of hard work that was put into practice from this young man and his Sensei. My second thought is wondering if this young man is being taught Karate Do or just advanced level kata to win tournaments. Suparinpei is considered a very advanced level kata usually taught to upper Dan level karate practitioners. This young man appears to be somewhere in the age of 10 or so. My hope is that he is learning kumite, kihon, and is being trained to defend himself as well as the kata. No disrespect, his kata his second to none, and very impressive. I could watch it all day. I just hope he is getting true budo, and not just being taught how kata should look to win tournaments.

Thanks for your kind words. The first purpose he learns karate is to build up his physical and mental confidence. He also learned how to respect and self-discipline from karate. The normal classes cover what karate shall cover. As you can see, he also started learning and practicing those advanced katas since we found he can do well in tournaments. On the other hands, from the practice and bunkai of those advanced katas, he also learned some techniques in advanced.
