    Nice video and good to see someone getting out there. If I can make a suggestion as regards the line. I don't have or use a baiting pole as it is of no use to me where I fish however I do use a bait boat on some venues and a similar issue applies about catching the line on the way back. What I do is to sink the rod tip about an inch under water and that way you get no issues with the wind blowing your line or catching it on the way back as it is already sunk. Its no good if you are going all over the place but if you are going on a relatively straight line to your target then it works perfect. It also means that as soon as you drop the bait you can just tighten up and you are ready to go. On a swim like you have I would put the rod butt on the alarm and place the top section of the rod on the wooden framework ensuring just the tip of the rod is under water. It is then easy to just lift it back into the correct position and most times that will tighten up your line to your rig enough to set your bobbin. Just a suggestion but it works for me.

    Good video Steve. Shame on the blank, and great tips. I found that the ridgemonkey line gadget for boating out rigs was more hassle than it was beneficial!

      Cheers Chris, yep I don't get on with the ridgemonkey one, fiddly to set up and line seems to catch on it, row runner is a different class!

    Great vlog. I've got the cygnet 16m pole. That quite stiff, and you can steer it in the wind a bit. Was wondering what's those ones perform like with wind on the water.

      Hi Pete, it is not ideal for use in strong wind, but in a breeze by laying long sections together and aiming the pole into the wind you can get the spoon where you need in most situations even at 30 metres.

      Hi Paul, its a really helpful bit of kit and so easy to use, if you search for the tackle box in dartford (a great tackle shop) you'll find it on their website. 👍

    Do you use bait boats on different waters?

    • @CarpBites
      @CarpBites  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chucky, if bait boats are allowed then I would consider using one instead of the pole simply for ease of use, but I am convinced the fish are wary of bait boats on certain waters whereas the pole is more stealthy and I have witnessed carp swimming casually beneath a spoon as it has been shipped out on the pole.

    I don't understand why you are putting foam nuggets in your funnel Web 🤷‍♂️ what's the point.

    • @CarpBites
      @CarpBites  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The lake is very silty and I want the bait to sink as slowly as possible, in cold water the foam does not always melt, so if I put it on the hook it may still be on the hook when I reel on hours later. This way the rig sinks more slowly and hopefully settles on top of the silt. Granted the hook is not protected, but I'd rather this than foam coveeing the hook indefinitely.

    That rig looks way to long for my taste, when using a baiting pole my absolute max length is 15 cm since all the bait is dropped on the same small spot

    • @CarpBites
      @CarpBites  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Stefan, The length of the rig is determined by the depth of the silt, I find the long length works well in this location, I understand you are trying to achieve similar to a solid pva bag, but in this instance I am scattering some crumb around the area too so its not just the bait in the spoon I am relying on.
