German guy speaking English very, very well. If only more of us Germans took the time and effort to excel in learning languages. Most, sadly, don´t care too much. English, French, Spanish and Russian have enriched my life like nothing else, so happy I´ve got a knack for languages.

Not to be some kind of grammar Nazi (oh god, bad pun-y thing for a German to say, either way), it would be "Wir kennen auch das Wort 'Doppelgänger'." (=We also know the word Doppelgänger). Because 'wissen' is like : Do you know what time it is ? and 'kennen' is like : Do you know that one girl in school ?
We have the word and it is used, though rarely. I would even venture to say that most people wouldn't know what it means, especially given the state of the education systems we grow up in. However, English has taken many words from many languages and I guess it is only a matter of time before zeitgeist is more widely known and used.
:D all those long words .... Zeitgeist, Schadenfreude and Kindergarten .... come from German .... that's interesting, because I'm definetly more used to English words appearing in German !
abseiling :D that's clearly a bit more english than the other words, since the German translation for abseiling is acutally "Abseilen" ... sooo ... if somebody uses one of these words in a normal conversation .... does he get weird looks or is it just normal ?
I think it is normal... Allthough I don't talk very much english. I mostly write. So I don't hear those words very often in a real conversation. Allthough when I hear it in videos, I tend to giggle a bit ;)
