- This is a review of LEGO Monkie Kid set 80045 Monkey King Ultra Mech! This set officially releases on January 1st, 2023, and contains 6 minifigures: Monkey King, Monkie Kid, Tang, Yellow Tusk Elephant, The Golden-Winged Eagle, and the Azure Lion.

Get kids aged 10 and up excited about classic legends with this brick-built LEGO® Monkie Kid™ Monkey King Ultra Mech (80045). Adventure lives on

Can you review the elephant Monkie kid set next (I forgot the name of the set) it gives me chima vibes and I love it
Monkey King is probably crying in his alternate face because he’s not wearing a crown, he’s wearing a headband that constricts and gives him migraines any time the monk needs to punish him
If they show this in the show I'm gonna cry 😭😭

In a twisted way, he also sorta deserves it a little since his antics go against buddhist beliefs and morality (murder and such), yet it is very cruel and even causes a divide between them sometimes. It's very interesting to learn about their relationship through the book.
He can borrow tangs crown
Weird thing, but i laughed really hard at the Wukong crying face. In the jttw book Wukong cries just about once per 5 chapters. Due to frustration or anger mostly. Very relatable and super adorable.
More importantly, the crown on his head is cursed, and the monk can use it to hurt and pinish him for misbehaving. Used mostly for comedy. Rarely used for drama.
Think of it like Inuyasha's necklaces from that series.
Also he murdered the tiger whos skin he's waring in the book.
Can we see the hideout next? Really interested in the set and it’s value!
The experimental colours that monkie kid loves to try out make the theme a lot more visually appealing than others
Unfortunately MK has some issues elsewhere but not in looks
I wish there’s another way to get the three main antagonist in this new wave of Monkie Kid
It is an all around gorgeous set. The figures are fantastic and because they are based on characters from the story I'm betting the bright colors are intentional. The Yellow Tusked Elephant and Tang are definitely my favorite here.
It’s definitely an upgrade to the original mech, but the main draw to that old set was the side builds for me. So I’m not sure which one I prefer overall.
To be honest I really like this one and may get!

This is so epic I love the LEGO Monkie Kid Monkey King Ultra Mech, releasing in January 2023 as a part of the LEGO Monkie Kid Theme. I think this set is a great gift for kids of all ages for Christmas and birthdays

I love the villain minifigures because they remind me of the uncanny makeup from the Journey to the West movie
I'm dieing for a bad guy mec that scales. I love how mk and monkey kid both have a vehicle that combines to make it truly ultra and imposing works really well for me and in my day dreaming mind I couldn't ask for better
I’m thankful for a smaller MK wave honestly, I already end up purchasing most of these sets. I’m still debating which of these I want to pick up on Jan 1st

I like it, but it is not poseable enough, it basically has one stance and that's it. Minifigs are great.
I whould like to see a compare off the 2 mechs.

Can't say I'm that interested in this kit. A lot of interesting stuff, but not really my cup of tea. I will say that the front part of the jet(?) "side build" does look like it could make a decent brick built dragon head with some modifications
17:28 I didn't like much how the villain of the season did the minifigure lego the only thing I like is the legs, the hair is the same and I like the cape but the torso and face don't look much like the series and I like I would see it, well, it would have been a lot to ask, but I would like that they made new pieces for her body, maybe it would look better if they saw it made more like the one in the series because I didn't like how it turned out xd
No that's not tang that is the monk and that is small wukong the reason why he's crying is cuz it's meant to represent the Felice that's around his head tightening on in on him crushing his skull it's what the monk used punish wukong

Hmm, I can't tell if this is worth buying if you already own the original monkey king mech. I got into this line recently, thought the original mech looked hella cool, so I picked it up. This one looks good too but not different enough, maybe.

If im honest, i think the og mech is way better. This one is way too chunky and i hate the blade on the arm
Honestly, I feel the same way. I feel there are some aspects this mech improves on over the old one, like the head, but overall, this new mech feels very blocky to me. I'm also not sure of the figures, specifically Pigsy and Tang. I get that they're wearing outfits that are accurate to the book, which is arguably a good thing and something I know many people will enjoy, but I guess I'm so used to how they looked previously that this new style feels a little weird to me, but this is coming from someone who has never read nor appreciated the story of the Journey to the West

With all the mechs that lego has built they could have double jointed this to make is flex an hold its own. Kinda sick of mechs an dragons that used to be my favorite builds an Lego just makes new parts that are less an less like bricks🤦♂️

I'd love to see the comparison between the two monkey mechs. I feel like this new one is too much. It's bulky and doesn't feel cohesive with all the details, unlike the original which felt elegant. I wish this mech had the same scale as the six eared macaque mech.

OG MONKEY MECH was wayyyy better. This build just looks way too bulky...almost chubby. The original design is sleeker, lighter, and all around an astetical winner...
I feel the opposite, this guy can be slim or bulky depending how you use monkey kings jet
