This Open was the best 4 days of golf for YEARS. It had everything. Bad scores, good scores, different attitudes needed on all 4 days and huge amounts of drama - The start of the 4th day about 10 different people were right in contention. I’d watch this 1000 times over rather than everyone shooting at least 5 under each day and the winner being 7 ahead on the start of the final day.
The baby story has to be the best story I have ever heard on TH-cam. I listen to the podcast at work via headphones and I had to hide because I was in stitches with laughter! Brilliant 😂😂😂😂
This was a great podcast! This was over an hour long, and I never got stopped smiling. I have watched a few different people every week, and you guys are always the best. Great show and looking forward to every week. I thought Jacko would have been brought up, I thought he played brilliant. He had some huge blow up holes and always came back.
If Peter is trying not to get invited to these events in the future, allowing Mick to spout pish from his big mouth every, will certain make that happen.
Mick has gone back to being a complete twat again.....I thought he'd got over this....he knows nothing about golf ....then say's Rory should give up for a year.....what a complete bell end
Great content gents, you are on a real streak atm. On Rory - still think Rory would benefit from an experienced caddie that can help him with his strategy and mindset. He just approaches anything other than a 20 under dubai golf course wrong.
Always a good day when Rough cut drop a pod 👌 I might be alone on this but after watching your episodes with Luke Kwon , Sean and shayler, i think a 2v2 with you and kieran would of been awesome. Seen as that ships sailed how about just some content with the camera guys/editors. To me thats what stands out from other channels is that your such a tight nit unit, only other channel alike is BDS.
Listening at the gym, great show guys but can't believe you didn't mention Dan Brown. Don't know if I missed something but there's a story there I'd like to know more about. 👍
I think the biggest revelation from the Open was the 'serial killer' look on Justin Rose' face before every shot. Never noticed it before but was low-key terrifying.
42:00 I followed Viktor Hovland's group (Hovland, Harman and Theegala) at the Open last week (the first golf tournament I've ever attended) and I can attest to this - he doesn't look at anyone when he's walking between holes; his eyes were pinned to the ground. Brian Harman was the same - but Sahith Theegala was smiling a lot, acknowledging the crowd - and he even gave me a high five which was cool! I couldn't tell if Viktor was being distant because he was in a bad mood or unwell - turns out he's just fully dialled in at every tournament! Not something I would've picked up watching him on the telly. I just hope we can get the old Vik back... 😔
The Open is the golfing equivalent of the grand national. It’s so tough and form just doesn’t really come into it. It’s more about state of mind and a lot of luck. Trying to pick a winner is like trying to pick the winner of the grand national. The favourite can easily fall at the first fence!
I was fortunate enough to be working inside the ropes all week taking photo's of the lie of the balls for Sky Sports and the weather on the Saturday was just horrendous!! I have no idea how some of those guys managed to shoot level or better in those conditions on such a testing course. It really does show how good they really are!!
Speaking to a local woman at the 2nd. She was under the impression the house has been split Into 3 apartments. So it's 1.4 for a 3rd of the property. Sorry to burst the bubble lads
If you want to see unfair, wait until the US Open next year at Oakmont. They're already talking about not wanting the winner under par. Those guy will be playing on a parking lot
Taking about Scotland's courses. The west coast is amazing with Troon, Turnberry, Prestwick and Dundonald. Gulf coast great too with Muirfield, Archerfield, Renaissance, North Berwick, Gullane etc. Then you've got the highlands with Royal Dornoch (my course), Castle Stuart, Trump. Spoiled for choice in all regions
Western Gailes, Glasgow Gailes, Barassie, I've had the pleasure of playing all those courses, West coast golf beats East coast in Scotland for me, St Andrews is amazing don't get me wrong, but for pure links golf it's Ayeshire
It was a true test of golf and what links golf should be. Xander played brilliantly, 2nd shot to 11 on Sunday was sublime. If it wasn't windy and someone won at 25 under people would moan at that too for sure.
The British open as usual was determined by the draw not by who played best.. LIV has it right in this case everyone plays in the same conditions. The conditions is such it is like one football team has to play into a 5 foot wide goal and the other plays standard.
It’s not that it’s hard, it that anyone with good luck bounces vs bad luck bounces can win and this goes for most links style golf where undulations and unforgiving bunkers and fescue make it impossible to be consistent.
Just going off the title (will be having a watch at lunch time), I don't think it was unfair. It was a brutal test, but the course was set up in a fair condition. For me, "unfair" is when good shots are unfairly punished - think Rory at Pinehurst hitting his 2nd to a par 5, hitting the green and rolling off 40 yards in to the crap. I didn't see any of that. I just saw a difficult golf course in horrendous conditions, that's what The Open should be about.
Top listen. The autograph zone at the open was pretty crap for my 6 year old, muscled out the way by much older kids and no supervision, has put him off going back.
The open has such an element of luck of the weather. If you get the worst of it, you effectively have no chance of winning. Sadly this is the most unfair aspect of The Open compared to the other majors.
They got the weather prediction wrong every single day, being a meteorologist is the best job on the planet, get it wrong every time and don't get fired
The Rory take was so bad. 8 top 10s in the past 12 majors and he gets compared to Wyndham who has missed more major cuts than he has made in that same period.
My question is why does every pundit, commentator and ex pro all pick Rory to win every dam major, they are obviously blind! The guy won win another one I completely agree with you! All the Rory winning majors talk is boring now, I mean Koepka has won more and no one mentions him in anywhere near the same light!
Don't think it was unfair.... my thing is that the likes of Xander are just boring to watch. I saw him at Renaissance and i know you can't change your demeanour but he looked miserable as anything.... was gutted that one of Rose or Shane couldn't do it.... Personally i think on the range is the best bit and as a tournament Renaissance is just as good.....
@@RoughCutGolfPodcast of which he has four. Same as scheffler and schauffele combined. Hes not Ranked 3rd in the world because the pga like him. Hes Won multiple times this year. You can call them bogus tournaments but that just makes you look petty. Keep up the hot takes 👍
This is why The Open is definitively the third major for me. The weather can be ridiculous and a crapshoot, but even when it isn’t, this isn’t testing what modern golfers build their games for. I really don’t care who can hit it low, predict the run out, play bump and run, putt on slow greens. That’s relevant once a year. Masters easily #1, US Open #2.
Let's be honest, all the Tiger and Rory talk before Majors is just an absolute snooze fest now. I've no issue with any of the old boys playing in Majors where they have a previous winners exemption.....but FFS don't give them the same air time as the genuine contenders. Same for Rory at the Majors......so much airtime for someone that's not won a major for an age, I know us Brits want him to win, but it dominating the coverage is just boring and repetitive now.
McIlroy unravels like a cheap wool sweater in a basket of kittens. One bad hole and his belief drains away.. the likes of Scheffler, Schauffele just brush it off and move on. Nobody ever says that the Spieth hasn't won a major in 7 years.. but Rory has had that for the last 3 or 4 years.. hasn't won one in 8, 9, 10, years.

For someone who never play a major before, he didn't seem out of place and played incredibly well.
I think the biggest revelation from the Open was the 'serial killer' look on Justin Rose' face before every shot. Never noticed it before but was low-key terrifying.
Maybe more hit man than serial killer. Very intense. I noticed it too.

Nowhere near as bad as Carnoustie 99!

If you play crappy for 16-17 holes and finish with a good shot or birdie we call it the golf-fix
Upside for Rose is he doesn't have to go through qualifying again next year.
Top listen this. More links less target golf would be great. Scheduling in pro golf is crap.
Saturday was 128 worst aggregate

Time to talk about a proper world golf tour? More links golf and more countries included. Spread the majors around so not having 3 of them in the US?
Tiger Woods is still playing some fine golf, he's lacking the consistency. McIlroy never made the cut but isn't told to throw in the towel.
