I've watched dozens of Elite sportsman interviews, this genuinely is possibly the most interesting one I've watched to date. Brilliant Brilliant interview.
This interview started playing on auto feed while I waa cleaning up. I am so glad it did! Wow, incredible interview! Honest, straight talk about the life of a pro golfer. Loved it guys, more like this please.
So If someone said Robert Rock to me before today, I knew he was a Golfer but couldnt tell you much more honestly. I seriously enjoyed this chat... my word what a great, humble, down to earth guy. If he was still playing today I would now go out of my way to watch him. What a nice genuine bloke. Fair play for grafting your way to a great golfing career Robert. Respect.
Robert is a great listen. The best mixture of talent, humility and class. So easy to see why he’s so well respected. The best episode you’ve put out so far. Well done team 👌
What a fantastic guest and excellent interview…. I really wish Robert was a commentator on LIV !! His demeanour ,his knowledge and his calm delivery would add another dimension to all LIV golf broadcasts.
Robert is a shining example to everyone , sport business , life. He is an absolute world class athlete, proven winner yet he is so humble , class, warm, engaging! So many people with over stated arrogance could learn from this guy! Best episode so far . Well done Rick and Guy.🎉
What a great interview, Robert is such a humble guy who clearly made the very most of his talent with loads of hard work. Wishing him the very best of luck with his tour. Its nice seeing someone helping kids out with his experiences and knowledge 👌
I walked the 2012 Abu Dhabi tournament with Robert. I was working in AD at the time and played the National fairly frequently. So I can relate to everything he said but also being able to get close to him, I was able to observe his body language, pace of play, anxieties etc etc so there is quite a lot he did not mention, like for example his final drive which he unusually pushed right and then the conversation he had with his caddy about what to do. His caddy was very firm with him and understandably so because Robert was 2 up on Tiger but as good as came out sideways from a risky position and sacrificed one shot to win with a boggy. I lived all those moments on the day with him and infact over the four days.
Also I met Robert the previous year at Jameria Golf Club when Luke Donald won the Race to Dubia. Robert is the only tour pro who was prepared to have a beer after and a chat. I always remember he has a strong hand shake.
That was simply the best pod cast Rick has done .I've always like Robert as a golfer but he is such a marvelous bloke too, honest ,thought provoking, knowledgeable and inspiring. Well done Rick on getting Robert on
I'm listening to this at work knowing I still have an overtime day tomorrow to work. I'm' already at 96 hrs and the rest of the day left to work, too. At 58:25 I had to pause the show and pull myself together. Spot on and the fact he admitted that made Mr. Rock my favorite person in golf, not my favorite player. Much more valuable. Best show I've ever heard.
This has to be at the top of the list of (in your own words) phenomenal! podcasts Rick. To hear the real story of golf and not just the icing on the cake was really moving and changes the way I for one will look at the golfers who make it their career. the honesty of Robert was refreshing to hear. Well done the team. More like this please! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
As good as James is he isn't in the league of Robert Rock that would be a one sided affair I'm afraid.....both great players but Robert operates on a higher level than james
Up until watching the interview with Rick, I hadn’t seen or even heard of Robert Rock. What a gent up took up the game and mastered it through hard work and dedication. His stories and honesty are a breath of fresh air and far away from the current modern game and the intensity these top players have to survive. Great interview Rick.
Such a great interview, one of my favourites on the channel. Such an incredibly humble guy is Rock and he just has a great ability to share his story. Can't believe it was nearly 2 hours, time flew past! Another brilliant job by Rick & Guy doing the interviewing. 👏
Superb interview, not your typical tour pro but if there was ever a pro that made the most of his talents through hard work and dedication, it is Robert Rock! My favourite Podcast yet, thank you
Just finished the podcast on Spotify come here to leave a comment. What a great episode, just 3 golf enthusiasts having a chat. Enjoyed Rick and Robert having a lot in common and their experiences growing up in golf and Guys fascination with everything. Would love to see more of him on the channel, especially on the course. A Rick Shiels sponsored junior event would be a class shout too.
Bumped into Rob this morning, congratulated him on the podcast and he genuinely didn't realise what a big deal it was. Very humble chap, still hits a decent golf shot too 🙂
Really really enjoyed every minute of that podcast. Such a down to earth guy and great to here his story. It's not all glamour and riches. Would like to see more podcasts like this in the future
Brilliant, I hope you have around with Robert, what a great human, humble, hard working, new what he wanted, worked hard and achieved, best interview yet
Absolute sensational podcast.. just putting it out there Rick and Robert break 75 in Baltray .. at this time of the year you could probably recreate the conditions with the classic Irish weather .. Robert such a gent of a lad and soooo humble
I played with ‘Rocky’ in a Midland PGA event many years ago and was told how far he hit it, I remember thinking he wasn’t that long until a hole needed a bomb and OMG he hit it into another post code!! and went on to shoot mid 60’s with ease. Class player 👍👍👍👍👍
I play with him now at Ingestre. Was on the range with him tonight. Incredible golf swing. He’s got time for anyone. He went out with a 20hcp the other day. Asked him for a round. He’s in the US open & hrs got time for a 20hcp 😂😂
The one thing I’ve learned from watching this two hour podcast is I will never purchase a thing from Hertz or State Farm due to their obnoxious ads. In all seriousness, what a great interview. I didn’t think I’d actually watch the full thing due to the length, but what a compelling interview listening to this Everyman talk about how he went from a kid swinging old clubs in a park to beating arguably the greatest player who ever lived.
What a fantastic two hour podcast, i am so pleased you made this extended podcast, just to hear all the fantastic stories as a tour pro who fought until the end of his time. It was a great insight into how these tour pros go through mentally challenging decisions reference making ends meet. Robert is a credit to himself and the sport, i love the honesty Robert states, you need to be selfish in many ways to become a tour pro but also love that he said i have been selfish for over 20 years and now it's time to pay back hence suporting his son in his dreams etc. Best podcast i have listened to by far. Rick you are becoming the Parky of podcasts keep up the fantastic work you also bring great light and entertainment into the golfing world. Shout out to Guy and all the RS team 😊😊 Sappertapper golf ⛳️
One of my first memories of golf, was carrying the scoreboard at the Celtic manor in the Welsh open. The group was Paul mcginely, Phil price and Robert rock. And I think it was on the 5th hole par 5 into the wind, Rob was the first player I had ever seen hit driver of the deck. My jaw hit the floor as he hit this low fizzing driver to about 10 foot. Fair to say I hit the course as soon as I could the try and replicate this. Failed massively but has to be one of the best shots I’ve ever seen live. Such a nice guy
Brilliant interview. Listened to every single word. I never really understood previously where Robert stood in the mix and often wondered but this brilliant interview explains it all and I so chuffed that I walked that round with him when he beat Tiger.
That is one of the best interviews with a sportsman I have probably ever seen. The almost two hours flew by and I didn't want it to end. I have always admired Robert's golf swing and have not heard him speak much before (nor did I know that he was so unhappy with his putting). He is such a humble and likeable bloke and was very candid and insightful in his answers. But for goodness sake, get the man a decent seat, as he looked as uncomfortable as hell at times on that stool - it reminded me of the joke interview Renato Laranja did with Bas Rutten where he had put books under his seat cushion.
As a PGA Trainee, that was a great interview. I totally agree when Rocky said about losing all enthusiasm as an assistant. But on the flip side, from then on, it was very inspiring.
What a fascinating interview, learnt so much about Robert and great to hear about his introduction into golf and starting on tour. Watched many many of the high profile guests and this is probably one of the best
Brilliant interview. Hopefully we hear more from Robert in the future. I remember watching a late night sports programme a long time ago and they had an interview with him. He was a driving range Pro at the time. I've kept an eye on his career since. Bloody retired at 46 days he's done well. I'm 46 and probably got another 30 years tiling!! 😁
More more more of this type of podcast longer format more in depth didn't felt rushed like the hour long usual podcast Great story I really felt I was taken along his journey over 20 yrs Keep up the good work
Golf has definitley changed. I have just taken it up again in my 50th year having given up at 25 yo. I started because my father played and wanted me to at 8 yo. I loved playing, but hated everything else about being a member of a club. My first trip back to a club recently, just to use the driving range, I was actually nervous like I was every time I went as a youngster because of all the stuffy, pompous attitudes I was used to from the past as a junior member of a club. I fully expected to be shouted at and barred for changing my shoes in the car park. From watching Rick and Guy, then the Golf Girls and all the other great Golf YTubers, I have rediscovered my love of the game and love the lighter, more relaxed nature of social Golf these days. Thanks for being part of that.
What a great story. I watched a lot of European golf on the Golf Channel over the years early in the morning here in Wisconsin. So many interesting stories that need to be told. Keep the stories coming!!
Best interview by far upto now on your channel. What a great player Robert was/is and what a lovely fascinating character. He was always one of the coolest best dressed guys on tour and has the a wonderful pretty golf swing. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
I was a member at Lichfield when Rocky was assistant pro, great chap always had time for everyone.. When you going to get a game with him Rick ... it would make a great watch.
Outstanding one of the best podcasts ever, Robert is such a class act. I'm sure there's at least another podcast in him with stories from the tour. Has to be featured in a 10 shot challenge asap
Awesome interview. Rock was always one of my favourites on the European Tour. Retired & then qualifies for the US Open this past summer. Wouldn’t it be something if he somehow gets in The Masters field in the next couple years 🍻
What a relaxed, informative, interesting and genuinely enjoyable interview. Can't say I knew much about Robert before this as I'm more of a golf player than a golf enthusiast, but if a tour pro can make a 13 on a hole then it gives hope to all of us! Keep up the good work Team RS.
A superb podcast, just top, top quality. Robert is such a humble, engaging and likeable human being.....well done Rick and Guy. Absolutely captivating!
What a truly nice bloke. I had followed Robert's career but never knew the back story. This is the antidote to the money obsession which currently pervades golf and its media coverage. Also brilliant to learn of his commitment to bringing kids into the game. As one who is involved in this in a minor way I know how incredibly important this is.
Watched 90% of this because I was searching for what nv came to be - his swing, his swing philosophy, morad etc. Happy to hear about his junior programme.
I've been watching your channel since the beginning of first Covid. Please don't take this the wrong way, however this was my favorite Podcast I have watched. Even though this one was longer than most, I found myself wanting more. Robert is a GREAT story, and would love to see a match with Robert, James , Guy and you. Thank you for the entertainment , I look forward to all your content.
Best interview ever, always admired how Robert has conducted himself, and his swing is pure.
I play with rocky at Ingestre park. Was on the range with him tonight. Good lad.
I've watched dozens of Elite sportsman interviews, this genuinely is possibly the most interesting one I've watched to date. Brilliant Brilliant interview.

What a fantastic guest and excellent interview…. I really wish Robert was a commentator on LIV !! His demeanour ,his knowledge and his calm delivery would add another dimension to all LIV golf broadcasts.

Robert is a credit to his profession, one of the real nice guys. Great podcast.
What a great interview, Robert is such a humble guy who clearly made the very most of his talent with loads of hard work. Wishing him the very best of luck with his tour. Its nice seeing someone helping kids out with his experiences and knowledge 👌

One of your best guests…so good to listen to his reflections on his own career…more of this guys. Surely a 10 shot challenge coming!?
That was simply the best pod cast Rick has done .I've always like Robert as a golfer but he is such a marvelous bloke too, honest ,thought provoking, knowledgeable and inspiring. Well done Rick on getting Robert on

This is proper class! Instant fan of him now. Would love to see what a Robert Rock vs James Robinson match would look like 😍👀
As good as James is he isn't in the league of Robert Rock that would be a one sided affair I'm afraid.....both great players but Robert operates on a higher level than james
One of my favorite episodes. Robert is a great guy and I think would be great as an analyst on TV.
What an absolute gentleman great watch
I wish Robert all the success in whatever he does
Up until watching the interview with Rick, I hadn’t seen or even heard of Robert Rock. What a gent up took up the game and mastered it through hard work and dedication. By far the best Podcast yet Guys!! Well done for getting Robert on! Wish you could have had another 4 hours chat with him! Great stuff!!
What a genuine and humble chap Robert is, he deserves all the best for the future. Great interview.
How does this only have 81k views? This is one the best interviews.
Superb interview, not your typical tour pro but if there was ever a pro that made the most of his talents through hard work and dedication, it is Robert Rock! My favourite Podcast yet, thank you

Wasn’t sure about committing this long to a podcast, so glad i did! So interesting.
What a great interview, Robert is such a humble guy who achieved so much, what an inspiration. More interviews with people like him please 👏👏

What a decent bloke. Lifted me watching that. All the best for your future endeavours Robert.
I think this is my favourite Rick Shields video, what a great podcast

Loved that but you cannot leave it there.
Need to see Rick v Robert.
Truly inspiring man.
🏌🏾♂️
Can't believe you didn't ask him about his time with Mac O'Grady.
This really annoyed me as well 😂

Brilliant to have Robert on. Loved watching him play and remember his victory over Tiger well. Phenomenal Bouffant as well.
Modest hard working guy. Great podcast. Look forward to Rick and Robert playing in Ireland!
Really great podcast! Such a genuine guy. Well done guys!
good to see someone indoors without a cap on :)
An amazing interview, as a new fan to golf loved hearing and learning so much!
As a PGA Trainee, that was a great interview. I totally agree when Rocky said about losing all enthusiasm as an assistant. But on the flip side, from then on, it was very inspiring.
That was so good , brilliant podcast , Robert Rock seems a great guy 👍
That had to be the most "jaw dropping" podcast episode I think you've done. What a story!! Fantastic loved it and I will share.
Class interview love every minute 👏
What a fascinating interview, learnt so much about Robert and great to hear about his introduction into golf and starting on tour. Watched many many of the high profile guests and this is probably one of the best

That was the best podcast to date.. Robert Rock is an absolute legend amazing guest

I've always been a big fan of Robert and it was great to hear a long form interview with him. I hope his playing career isn't over quite yet.
Best interview by far upto now on your channel. What a great player Robert was/is and what a lovely fascinating character. He was always one of the coolest best dressed guys on tour and has the a wonderful pretty golf swing. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Great interview Robert Rock is such a wonderful interviewee and you guys just understand him so well perfect podcast
What an amazing insight and huge respect to Robert.
Wow that was a brilliant interview by far the best upto now ...
This was Ace. Robert is a class act. Loved the insight into how the tour ticks.
What a genuine nice guy. I thought nearly two hours was a long podcast, but I could have listened to more of his stories 👍
Best Podcast you have made , great interview
What a fabulous interview! This is quality content, and RR seems like a top bloke
Watched 90% of this because I was searching for what nv came to be - his swing, his swing philosophy, morad etc.

May just be the best guest you've had on the pod. Interesting listen to a top class professional.
Great interview....that was cool...

Always loved RRs demeanour on the course, but this was class. What a bloke!

Fabulous interview - really humble guy and a great guest
