I thought you would like a look at this very original 1956 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon. It's pretty rare to find an unrestored survivor like this one. It's powered by the original 265 V8 with a four barrel carb and it even has the factory A/C still intact. This is one sharp machine. Looking inside is like stepping back into 1956. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for checking it out!

It is cool to find them in nice original condition. You can really sense the history just by looking at it.
I love to see cars looking all original like this beauty, just hope she lives out her years with a careful owner. She really is a beauty!!
Very nice to see tri five Chevys without $20,000 paint jobs on them. Original finish is even better, but I'm wondering about the inconsistency in the finish condition from panel to panel. The white surfaces are far less pristine than the green, and there are differences in shading on the green panels. Maybe it received a partial overspray at some point? Under hood looks consistently original, more or less, but could the Chevy guys tell me if that 4 bbl carb looks original? I don't know original Chevys from that era very well. Thanks to Ramblin Around for posting this very cool old Nomad. Regardless of any past work done, the car is in the true spirit of a survivor, IMO. Hope it went to a good home.
Sharp! I've always liked the 1956 better than the '55 and '57 for some reason! The front seat isn't a split bench seat though, only a split seat back for access to the rear seat!
i wished you had spent a bit more time discussing that very rare factory air conditioning this car has
I have one stock air, they made around 400 with AC between 55 and 57.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look. I'll go check out your Bel Air's too.
u r awesome man!!!!! U found a car that lives through all of the years just like how it is. Its has seen ever thing in the past, went to different places in the past. Nowadays stupid car restorers usually ruin the car by adding non original things. They totally ruin the nice magnificent feeling of classic cars
I hope the next owner won't do a restomod with it.
OMG -- This is the exact same spec as the factory spec on my grandfathers 1957 Nomad, paint no. 717 and trim no. 595, sadly he's painted his black, I'd love to see his factory.
I have an uncle that does that. He uses old cars like storage sheds. It's a shame you didn't get your hands on that one.
That is perty damn sweet! I almost had one of those back when I was scrapping. The only reason they didn't get rid of it, they were storing absolute junk in it. Old newspapers and shit like that. It even ran but burned some oil....sigh.
They actually want me to come by more often. Their cars have gotten over 2 million views because of my channel. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
Nice car with original AC. I love these cars.
Yes, you're correct, it was called the power pack on the Nomad as well. Thanks for taking a look!
That's kind of what I was thinking too. Thanks for taking a look!
I really love finding original survivors like this one. I'm glad you like it too, thanks for watching!
I agree, wouldn't it be fun to open up an old garage or barn and see that that sitting there.
It's a pretty rare find for sure. Thanks for taking a look at it!
It really is a rare find. Thanks for taking a look George.
Thanks for taking a look!
Love the survivor aspect of the car. I'd leave it just the way it is. It's like your own little time capsule into 1956.....
Thanks for taking a look!
crawl space doorknob tailgate
I agree, I hope it goes to a responsible owner that'll do the right thing.
0:00 1956 Nomad
Wow, power brakes, power steering and air conditioning in a 56! Pretty impressive!!! Nice find Jeff!!!! :)
got ac cool
My Dad was just the opposite...he worked for Ford for over 30 years, but drove Corvettes and Trans Am's. He always had Ford Trucks though.
I had that 56 Nomad back in 1980.
I wonder if it's mine?
We were talking about it the other day. People are kind of split on what to do with it. Some think it should be fully restored and some think it should be left alone. It really would a tough decision.
I like finding them like this. It will probably get fully restored at some point, but it's cool to see it with some age on it right now.
my 1st car was a '56 Chevy 2dr HT same exact color & interior as this Nomad, bought it in '63 when i was still in high school, it was a 1 owner & had the window sticker & owners manual in the glove compartment! Traded it 2yrs later for a '63 Chevy SS 327 300HP tach on the steering column remember? Those were really the good old days, you could cruise all weekend on a few $s, gas back then was around 27 cents a gallon.
Yeah, and it has probably required less patching up over the years...lol.
Thanks for checking it out!
Lol I bet those guys get tired of you going by and videotaping and never actually buying anything (unless you like work there or are real close to the owners)
Glad you like it...thanks for watching!
Nice to see a hydro-vac brake booster in the engine room too.
What a fantastic rare find! I just uploaded a couple '56 Belair Coupes but you caught my eye with the Nomad - had to stop and take a look. :)
Thanks for watching!
Chevy orange not correct on engine its red
Very nice Patina eh!!☺
Thanks for watching!
'56 engines were red from factory.
just a "tad" better condition than my old Loraine.. haha.. thanks Jeff
Nice one! I love survivors!
Would these be considered a crossover? lol. My old neighbors used to drag a 57 Ford wagon with a supercharged Y-block. Not sure how fast it was, but it would pull the front wheels.
Respect the wagon.
cool car. I'd be worried about what's below the trim line the paint is clearly different thought would be mega rust stuff and shoot.
That is frikkin amazing, we had a copper/white 56 way back when I was 12 in 1963. The old man sold it for $85 after we had it a short while. Can you imagine THAT!?! He worked for GM 37 years but was a Ford man, this was the only Chevy we owned.
Beautiful car
thanks littlemark905. I had 2 56 Bel Air Coupes, one in Laurel Green/Croucus Yellow. Sold both before they were completed. My parents had a 56 wagon in green/yellow. Maybe another one in my future that is completed.
If you have a spare minute I posted a photo of a beautiful 56 Nomad on my channel. This is my daughter in her hometown of Prescott, Arizona at a car show at the courthouse square.
To find a original survivor 1956 Chevy Nomad with less than a 100,000 miles is amazing !! :)
TOO cute!!!!!!
Jeff this beauty is older then you and me. And its still going strong. ;))). Gene from mass
Another great find from Fast Lane, thanks for sharing.

Nice car. I'm surprised it's in as good a condition as it is. Thank you for posting this vid.
I recall it had a lot of rust, I have a photo somewhere of it, lmme see if I can find it.
I'll admit there were lots of cool colors to choose from, yet you have a great taste.
Wow!
I always wanted a Nomad when I was a kid. Nice
I lived here in late 1977,till earley 1978.sold my 1973 black f100 pick up,and headed to fl.
Look how straight doors line up, Love Survivors and original door gaps.
Really Nice Car
