What's your go-to strategy for staying safe in a *street fight* ? Let me know in the comments below! Whether you're new to self-defense or a seasoned practitioner, I'd love to hear your thoughts on what works and why. Let's get the conversation going! 🤛
I like Vunak s rat system, it simple and effective
Greg, it’s great that you’re exploring different systems. While simplicity is key in self-defense, any effective system must address the critical importance of the first strike, which is often the decisive factor in real-world encounters. Systems that neglect this fundamental principle can leave gaps when faced with real-life violence. My CFA methodology emphasizes first-strike efficiency and the ability to neutralize threats quickly, which are essential in reality-based self-defense. It's awesome. What's your opinion on the legal ramifications of striking first
Great question! The legal ramifications of striking first hinge on the concept of ‘justifiable use of force.’ Self-defense laws vary by jurisdiction, but generally, you must demonstrate that the strike was necessary to prevent imminent harm. This requires articulating that you reasonably believed an attack was unavoidable and that you acted to protect yourself.
In reality-based self-defense, the pre-contact stage is critical for assessing threats and ensuring your actions are defensible in court. Striking first should never be about aggression; it must be about survival when no other options are viable. Proper training in situational awareness, de-escalation, and legal use-of-force principles ensures that your actions are both tactically effective and legally sound.
So the situational drills is what I'm missing, I want to be teaching good street defense in my group. Thank you. What do you think of the entry, pressure, termination idea to have ingrained in a person meaning myself and my students
I am a fan

My go-to strategy is to watch and practice your videos
That’s a solid strategy! Watching and practicing consistently is the foundation of becoming truly effective. If you want to take it to the next level, check out the War Machine Elite program-it’s designed to turn dedication like yours into unstoppable real-world skills.
Also....touching the brim of your hat before you delivered the strike was really slick. Never thought of that before. Nice touch!!
Glad you caught that, Jeff! That little move isn’t just for show-I’ve actually used it several times during my years working as a bouncer. It’s a great way to disguise intent and set up a strike while appearing non-threatening. Small details like this can make a huge difference in real-world situations.
Good golly you are fast with those strikes to the eyes on that mannequin head. I blinked once and you had already delivered the strike! I know that only comes from decades of training. I think I learned five new things just from this video. Thank you very much.
Thanks, Jeff! 👍 Striking speed and precision are definitely the result of years of dedicated training and practice. I’m sure your strikes are just as sharp! I’m really glad you found the video so valuable-learning five new things in one watch is a huge win! Keep up the great work, and feel free to share your thoughts or questions anytime.😉
People of a certain age , remember Eddie Futch, one of the greatest boxing coaches, he said it best,"Punches in Bunches", then angle off to the outside of their lead foot.

The de- human visualization is in my opinion one the most important and being mean, not angry but mean. Anger makes you lose control mean gives you no care if you hurt someone…..actually it becomes addictive.
I believe those two come first and with your training you become a physical weapon against your adversary
👍 You're absolutely right-instrumental aggression, not blind anger, is critical in street fighting. Losing control compromises judgment and execution, making you vulnerable. This aligns perfectly with my First Strike Principle. 👊 The concept of "pseudospeciation" -assigning subhuman and inferior qualities to a threatening criminal assailant-is a vital component of cognitive combat conditioning. However, this concept isn't about hate but rather viewing your adversary as a threat to be neutralized efficiently and decisively. This mindset, combined with proper training, transforms you into a calculated weapon, not a reckless brawler. I’ve addressed this topic in detail in many of my books, including War Machine, First Strike, and Knock Out. 📖
I have 2 Books authored by you.
Thank you for your support and for being a part of the journey in reality-based self-defense. It’s great to know my work is in your library! Thank you for watching and welcome to the community.

Psst, Sammy! What about a spike kick to the leg?
Good question, Andrew! The spike kick is not recommended as a preemptive strike because it lacks the neutralizing force necessary to decisively end a confrontation. Unlike the other first-strike techniques demonstrated in the video, the spike kick is a situational tool best utilized within the "fractal range," the transitional distance between kicking and punching. At this range, lifting your foot off the ground to execute a kick poses additional risks, as it compromises your balance and stability, leaving you vulnerable to counters or takedowns. Its primary purpose is to disrupt an opponent’s balance or mobility, creating openings for follow-up strikes rather than serving as a standalone solution. In real-world self-defense, preemptive strikes must prioritize immediate incapacitation or overwhelming force, making the spike kick unsuitable for such scenarios. Thank you for watching and welcome to our community. 👍
In my opinion, the last hit to the throat is too much of an injury to the fingers. Personally, I prefer striking with the edge of my hand while standing in a sideways position. In my opinion, it's a killer technique and, above all, safe for your hands. What do you think? Best regards from Poland.
Standing sideways and striking with the side of your hand can be effective if you’re dealing with an adversary who has flanked you, as it allows for quick lateral movement and strikes. I've demonstrated this technique in several of my videos that deal with multiple attacker situations. However, positioning yourself sideways when face-to-face with a threatening adversary during the pre-contact stage is inherently risky and severely restricts your ability to fight effectively.
This side stance limits your ability to effectively defend against a wide range of attacks, particularly against strikes, tackles or grabs coming from unexpected angles. It also restricts your offensive arsenal by inhibiting critical angles of attack, making it harder to generate power or execute decisive first strike techniques.
For optimal safety and effectiveness, a first strike stance is much more versatile. It allows for better coverage of vital areas, faster reaction times, and access to a broader range of offensive and defensive techniques. That said, personal preferences and comfort do play a role, but understanding the limitations of each position is crucial in real-world scenarios.
Thank you for watching, and welcome to our community! Best regards, and I appreciate the insight from Poland!
