  • This backyard was in bad shape. There was trash everywhere, overgrown grass, a broken fence, bricks, rubble, weeds, a tree that needed to be removed, not to mention the dog poo everywhere. Overall, we took out over 3 tonnes of rubbish, bricks, rubble, metal, plastic, grass, and everything that needed removing, and the job was done over a day and a half. Anything that was left in the yard was needed by the homeowners, and they were very happy with the final result. This is part 2 of 2.

    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

You can tell that this yard was once part of a happy situation with big ambitions. The beautiful decking, garden beds, privacy fencing. And then life got in the way. Gardening shows were always my favorite to watch on TV. Great job! Watching from Utah.

Aside from being elderly, disabled or depressed/mentally-ill, nobody has an excuse to let their yard get like this: this is LAZINESS. You guys did an outstanding job, and the homeowners should be grateful, and embarrassed that they allowed things to get to this level. They need a part-time gardener to keep things from getting out of hand again. Jeez!

If it is one of those, I think I one totally understand. I’m 73 and I cannot walk on uneven ground. I cannot push a lawnmower either I have to rely on someone else. I don’t like to ask either. It’s not laziness, it’s difficult I become overwhelmed with the worry of yard work. And paying someone on limited income is stressful (depressing) enough. Two hundred to mow my front yard, and more for my back yard. Try to understand where people are coming from. Hard times, illness, no one to help. or age. Thank you for sharing. Its been enjoying. I had a Good Samaritan mow my yard once. So thank you or your kindness. Have an awesome day!

So much potential in that yard, but they let it all go to waste! I love greenery and trees, but the awful mess that was almost made me cry~
I hate to see the grounds denuded like that, but it's a nice, clean slate to work with now.

So much visual noise going on, and a beautiful transformation.
I hope what ever the owners were going through, this made them feel a lot better.
From personal experience, I had someone come in when I was in the darkest part of my depression and do the very same thing. Now they come on a regular basis.
You have given them the greatest gift.

Forgot to ask b4, where is this? One of my biggest worries in this situation is... what kind of critters are hiding in there? Always leary about that sort of thing, maybe just paranoid??? I've come across a snake or two, I try to be cautious and dress with that in mind!

    • @QuickCuts

Hello from California! You all did a fantastic job! So much work and finding things under all that grass and weed mess, looked dangerous. I hope you didn’t go home smelling like poo! Lol… I see you did this in June, is that your Winter season? That’s our Summer season in June here in the states. We have a fantastic gardener for the last 17 years but my husband and I like to keep our front and backyard clean and looking nice during the week and we just had a new backyard patio, a new pergola with a ceiling fan to use on hot days outside and new patio furniture added and a new propane bbq grill, so we can enjoy sitting outside and now have more friends and family come over. My older brother visited Australia when he was in the Navy, he said he met the nicest people there. I would love to visit Australia someday! 😁💖
