Joey Castillo is a beast, he was bringing a whole different vibe to QOTSA sound. Jon Theodore is a great drummer too, loved his stuff with The Mars Volta but Castillo's sound was just perfect for QOTSA!
@@torgejh9189he was the new drummer. He even said himself it took a few years to get all the songs down. Grohl was able to compose the song so to speak during deaf. It’s harder to cover a song.
I saw this years ago and never managed to find it again. Utterly deranged, insanely exciting performance. Joey was an insane genius of a drummer. And in all the warzone chaos, Lanegan is soo cool. Imagine being at that gig, Cant put into words how brilliant that performance was
It's the absolute BEST, just adds so much energy to their songs. And songs like this that are already manic as fuck only get better with more energy... This is easily my favorite version this song, it never fails to get me going. And it's easily in my top 5 for this band, if not #1.
I may sound crazy but I love the rushed drum fills and the way too fast beat of the song played by Joey than when Dave played live shows with. Not sure why. It doesn't even sound logical to myself.
Best version of this song ever. Joey Castillo really adds to this songs epicness by playing at such a manic speed. Joey Castillo's beating on his drums with a speed and intensity as if his life depended on it, Mark Lanegan's gravelly bellowing voice painting a darkly beautiful picture, Josh Homme's and Nick Oliveri's guitar and bass parts hanging on for dear life but still mostly in sync, Troy's crazy lap steel solo, etc. It's just an amazing performance from the best era of an amazing band. Doesn't get much better than early 2000s Queens of the Stone Age live. My only wish is that this performance was recorded/mixed better so that we'd be able to hear the full magnificence of this song live, but even with this imperfect recording, this performance absolutely ripped, and is my favorite recording of my favorite song by my favorite band!
The new album is great, one of their best. The lineup now are brilliant but this is my favourite period for queens. The sound is so dirty, so brutal, so nasty. How a rock band should sound. RIP Mark Lanegan . What a voice.
This is just insanely great. Joey Castillo is the greatest QOTSA drummer. The sheer violence and insanity on show here is magnificent. Lanegan is a bastion of cool. Just Brilliant from the wholw band
hahaha exactly what I was thinking and still thinking the song is worth it if it was a bit slower xD (or maybe that is what you were pointing at instead of the speed)
saw QOTSA in wolverhampton in 2002 and partway through this song i caught Joey's eye and begged for a drumstick, , ,sure enough at the end he threw it to me . . .one of the best gigs i've ever been to....and thats after seeing them support ACDC in 2001 and thinking they were the biggest pile of shite ever. . .still got the stick though
I'm never high. But I'm usually accurate :D If you get the songs style and feeling, you get what the new batman movies style and feeling should've been imo
As a drummer, I can truly confirm that this song is apeshit fun for everyone
but can that drummer hits so fuckiung hard and his beats seem so fresh,,,definitely my fav queens drummer
I have to agree there
Way too fast in my opinion.

❤❤❤❤
Lanegan’s vocals are epic.
Have you seen this song performed in Werchter, with Dave Grohl on drums? Even better imo.
This is definitely my favorite line up. Love Lanegan's voice, Oliveri's energy & Castillo in beast mode on drums. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Joey Castillo is a beast, he was bringing a whole different vibe to QOTSA sound. Jon Theodore is a great drummer too, loved his stuff with The Mars Volta but Castillo's sound was just perfect for QOTSA!
fuck ya love his vibe,,,,
JT is more experimental in my opinion but have to agree that Joey is a beast. Both are great!!
Totally man!!
He sped the intro up like crazy, even threw Josh Homme off for a couple of seconds. That sounded like total ass. Rest of the song was killer though.
@@torgejh9189he was the new drummer. He even said himself it took a few years to get all the songs down. Grohl was able to compose the song so to speak during deaf. It’s harder to cover a song.
If yer hanging around, I'm holding the noose...Miss you Mark
Best part is when Mark leavesint the end like he's just passing by
Like a boss! 😂🩶🖤🩶
The most lanegan thing to ever lanegan
Totally bad ass rock and roll. ‘Life’s a study in dying’ - one of the great rock and roll lines. Truth.

Drummer had couple more lines than the others 😂... keep up guys
Noticed. Mostly if you compare the one with dave growl which plays it so clean. This guy missed a few hits
@@gabrielvalerio6304dude his rolls at the end are so freaking clean
😂😂😂 gets me going so much ❤❤
Lanegan Castillo and oliveri was peak
Lanegan! Absolute legend!! ❤😢
Good old Lanegan...my respect.
Absolutely, an unique voice
R.I.P
That drummer pushes the tempo like 20 bpm and it's so fun
for some reason some people hate him for that, I can't understand why :)

Me too! Case in point:Tension Head. Waaay more manic sped up in this set list compared to the album version.
It honestly makes the song way better. It brings more energy unlike when Jon plays it
Same here.
The reason for this starts with "co" and with "caine"
No way dude I love it too

Fuck I miss Mark. Terrible loss
Epic song and performance (CD quality as always) and 4:03 is awesome:D
This song is like a fucking Ghosttown-style spooky racecar with bats flyin around it, knocking down everything.
This is their best ever version.
I'm fuckin' squirting, everytime XD absolute love
RIP MARK!!!!!!
His snare sounds so good
Energy of the drummer on a different level 💯
LOUD! LOVE IT!

This is the most perfect performance ever of this song. Mark Lanegan is perfect. Joey Castillo is a beast.

joeys not from this planet.that explains a lot. (in a good way :D )
One word: c o c a i n e
Lanegan the legend🖤
This Drummer ist Speedy concaleves💪💪🤘✌️🤘
I like this version better than the album version. It's rushed but I think I love it BECAUSE it's rushed. All energy is set at 11.
Not even close IMO. Album version sounds like plastic.
this shit is rocks thum things thum things
RIP Marck
Come to Scotland and perform like this...get a proper crowd appreciating you.
I saw them at Glasgow Green the crowd was shit
Holy shit this is heavy metal
One hella of a band that was i miss it and where is Joey ?
How to out Grohl, Grohl. Castillo is incredible here.
RIP Maestro Mark Lanegan!!! :(
Is that Brody in white top side of stage filming them?
I've always wondered the same thing, but I can never get a good enough look to determine if it's her.
original BPM: 107
Live BPM: 463
men i waste more energy with this song than 2 hours of fucking gym
Damn

Époque MP3 et Harley
No one sings this better live than Lanagan RIP 🖤🩶 I liked Dave Grohl more on drums fir this song
which vfest?
Is he keeping the tempo?
Yea just speed it up a whole lot
He rushed that.
I love this song for the drums. Drummer does a great job, but unfortunately doesn't capture the true feel of the original song.
Playback speed: 0.9x
I do like Joey on drums, but those intro fills weren't quite on point!!!
Joey Castilloが尖りすぎてんのよw
好きだけどね。
JOEY CASTILLO!!!!⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Ese baterista parece un gorila rockero salvaje
Much better than the video with Dave Grohl, which currently has 2 mill views! No offense to dave!
Yeah, but Dave was the dude who actually played it on the album, so that's fair. I saw these guys in Sydney with Joey Castillo. Fucken gnarly!🤙
Dave plays it better Joey is good but too sloppy and excessively fast
...this is really weard, because last year I was told that QOTSA is gay-music🤷♂️
joey is good drummer but dave grohl is the boss in this song
Fuck Dave Grohl! Joey had more angry and more energy!
aldack joey is good drummer but dave grohl is the boss in song for the dead
@@aldack He looks more angry and energetic but still isn't hitting as hard as Grohl does lmao
100% correct about Grohl.
