Great episode and lots of great hacks for partners; the recon mission really resonated with me to both scout out things to see and accessible places to eat . You both are great!!
I love your title, Tripping on Air! I have MS with severe leg spasticity,. I've been on crutches 11 years, and that's just what walking is like- tripping on Air!
Thank you for this. You gave alot of helpful hints and made me realize you need to call ahead and ask for things! I'm always so reluctant to make my needs known and hearing you say it makes me feel better about it for the future.
Everywhere we have gone here in the US, if i tell or my husband tells the people i have MS and have walking issues, they are so helpful and accomidating. Ads are on TV about MS medications & actors that have MS have spread the word, so the word is out! I felt bad and weird about asking dor help but someone told me once that if you ask someone for help, it makes THEM feel good. I never thought of it from that perspective.
I live in Vermont, USA so cold or chilly for 8 or 9 months out of he year. I am very sensitive to cold too. Love the sun and warmth! I feel like i am a hermit in the winter and fall and just try to be comfortable and get through it the beat way i can. The only place i travel is 2 1/2 hrs away. That is all I can handle. I would never travel any farthur away and that is OK. If I dont take my gabapentin every 4 hrs during the day, i can barely move so always have a lot of pills in my purse. I have also stopped doing anything before 1 in the afternoon. It takes me hrs to get showered, dressed and to put something on my face! That is the reality of my situation.
Hi Terry, one of our other podcasts "The Pulse" recently did a 3 part series on Accessible Fashion with some great info on this subject. Ardra was also the host of the AMI-tv series "Fashion Dis" that should be of interest... th-cam.com/play/PLM5Ss_-z2cibHKTGqkQL25g-3ykq99gIf.html&si=DfKtgB0Rr0_ghtiQ

My hubby is planning a trip next year to Utah to ski. He said he has to make sure there is avaialbe people on call for me if i need it. Luckily my parents live next door. They are very healthy and active still skiing at age 82. They are very helpful to me driving me to appointments when my husband is working ( which is a lot )since I dont/can't. My diet not like it is at home which is hard. My family does not have the same diet as I do. I am good at resisting food that is bad for me.
