    All I can remember is when Eddie pulled 500, next Monday at my gym, there was an unprecedented long line at the deadlifting platform, a place where people mostly used to do bicep curls before because it has a mirror. Everyone did deadlifts and a couple of people who had never done them before got stuck with them. The world becomes a better place when you start to deadlift.

    I watched the interview about this and he said that the only way he could be able to lift 500kg is if he thought of his kids trapped in a car and he had to push the car off. Because when kids are trapped in a car, people gain unspeakable amounts of adrenaline to push the car off and it makes those people stronger than people like Eddie Hall! Insane shit.

    • @Patatmetmayo
      @Patatmetmayo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that was just a nice story, not much truth to it though Eddie Hall simply had the strength to do it 465kg truly looked like a warm-up. The other two were pretty close too, they were good for 480-485kg probably.

      @@Patatmetmayo Eddie said he was working with psychologists to help him figure out how to get him to a place in his mind, he has never gone before.
      Part of that was going with a situation where his kids were trapped. You will die trying to save your kids.
      So the OP is 100% correct.

    • @Patatmetmayo
      @Patatmetmayo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@72Dexter72Manley72 Yeah I've listened to Eddie saying that, and I think it's bullshit. He was ready to pull 500kg on his own and the trapped kids thing is just a nice story to tell the world afterwards. I don't believe for a second he was able to unlock that kind of strength for real, and I don't think it's possible to use it outside of actual life threatening situations.
      If it was it would be used and harnessed already in competitions, and Eddie could have pulled 800kg because when a mother can lift a car when her kids are trapped Eddie could lift much more in such a situation. 500kg was a phenomenal lift for sure but he simply had it in him, no crazy psychological tricks needed. It's just a nice story.

    so: more about Eddie Hall: born 1988, height 190, weight 185 kg, retired one year after this competition, has rare genetic mutation that causes myostatin-related muscular hypertrophy. Other (undisclosed) health problems forced his retirement. Since he was successful competitive swimmer as teenager, he would be quite slim back then. So- risking his life for legendary achievement 500 kg dead lift, by (most likely) very unhealthy eating and supplementing, that's the price you pay in modern world to become a sport legend.

      @htckylin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A rush in oxygen supply will be do more harm than good, so letting the body self adjust back to normal is better. Just like the "take a slip of water when you are dead thirsty in the desert than drown yourself to cure the thirst."

      @htckylin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Putting it simple, sport athletes like NFL players have larger cardio capacity on average than the average person; even Eddie. So NFL players body not just able to handle an oxygen rush but also can distribute it more efficiently.

    • @brandon1051
      @brandon1051 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@alilacherruse It's not a matter of decreased oxygen. When you move heavy weight, your blood pressure spikes. Your body responds, trying to reach homeostasis. When you're relieved of the weight, the incredible spike goes down, but your body is still compensating for it. As such, it actually overcompensates at that moment, and your blood pressure drops significantly. It's this drop in blood pressure that causes you to become dizzy or light-headed, or even pass out during the downward motion of many lifts, like when you lose significant blood through injury or donation.
      Edit: In Hall's case, however, I'm pretty sure he had hemorrhaging and a concussion from the blood pressure spike itself. Absolutely incredible lift, but it was taxing as well.

      On a deadlift? Or just 40kg objects? Because on a deadlift, its basically the very starting point for most people. Not trying to talk you down, just being realistic. If you were talking about deadlifts, I suggest you just keep training, and you will notice you can quickly become stronger than you ever thought you could have been (probably not on the level of these guys though lol). Good luck training mate!
