      It's not 'spoiled' if the Idols willingly do it to please their fans. They do fanservice, and in return the fans gives them their loyalty. It's some kind of a service barter in the fandom, I think.

      Most of these toxic fans are not even mature by age some are in their early 10's 😂🤣 mid 10's and early 20's 😂🤣 who were given internet connection to improve their knowledge but these immature kids just wanna be cool if someone in their friend circle like bts they would also like bts and search them on internet and in the end they would become one. Just think about it in olden days when internet was a luxury and not a necessity there was not so much hatred there were only magazines related to popular idol groups and they would be competing whose group song(notice it's song and not appearance which is indeed influenced by the friend circle) is good. As new idol groups(3rd gen and upcoming gen) are promoted through sns and social media which is widespread available because of internet and indeed many fake kpop overshadowed true fans and started spreading hatred against each fandom which was unnecessary and went out of control.

    For me the number 1 reason for K-pop fandoms toxicity nowadays is the kpop competition and voting systems.
    The constant music show votings, voting apps and such. it creates a HUGE fandom competition and fanwars are pre-programmed with this.
    Its not really about music anymore, only about votes, views, sales, awards, tweets(yes even who has more tweeted hashtags is a thing nowadays).

    Being a non-Asian Kpop fan myself, the Kpop artists give off a feeling that you are a part of them, which is different from western and other artists. This is a nice feeling till u realize that that you are indulging way too deeply into their personal lives, which is deemed okay by other Kpop fans, to experience that kind of closeness.

    Kpop fans
    1. Hate mistreatment and overworked a idols but want at least 2 comebacks a year
    2. Idols do so many fanservice that shippers really believe the idols date eachother and they are hiding it. That creates hate for other members for other ships and hate for the real gf or bf.
    3. They feel entitled to actually approve or not the significant other like they actually know the idol. "he isn't for her", "he deserves better" bla bla.
    4. Idols treat their fans so good but at to the point they actually make them believe they are the most important in their life, they are not.
    5. Because of that they feel cheated on if they date, they feel wronged if they don't act always nice, flawless and like an angel, they just don't like that their idol have their own opinion. And most important, they never stop their own fans and called them out.
    6. They aren't allowed to have anything but a angel image so don't smoke, don't drink, don't go clubbing, don't do tattoos, dont have "controversial" opinions (feminisim for example).
    And all this always with the permanent threat of "otherwise we are going to ruin your career".
    Disgusting.

I don't know about Zendaya but I saw one of her own videos where she said she was the good happy girl because she thought that's how she should be. I know Taylor Swift was the good girl because it was in her documentary where she found her happiness in the compliments given to her by others. But then "that" scandal happened and she decided she had to change herself because living on others acceptance is toxic. I'm not sure but this is what I've seen.
      I feel like One Direction is more fitting for your narrative since they were highly controlled and when they split and made their own songs, they were criticised by some. Same goes for Miley Cyrus and many other Disney artists. Even Little Mix and Britney Spears.

    I think the reason why the kpop community is so toxic/problematic in general is because its like, whatever the fans want, that's what the artist will do, causing the fans to be more controlling and and fans being spoiled causing them to be more damanding of their idols, compared to the more laid back western artists community where whatever the artist wants to do, that's what the fans get.

I am pretty new to Kpop so I still have a lot of exploring to do, but the ones you talked about really peaked my interest. An other thing that I noticed are fans who try to push their own weird fantasy on the idols (like romantic shipping). I find it so disgusting that these REALLLL human beings get treated like dolls. Especially in male Kpop groups. I get that you don't want your bias to date someone other than yourself, but to push your twisted fantasy on them and make them act like they enjoy it goes to far (in my opinion). I think that the company's should creat a clear line between fanservice and real life, because some of the fans clearly don't know when to stop.

I remember watching a vlive of Rosé promoting her solo and a korean fan asked her to botton up her shirt (we couldn't even see the beggining of her chest) and she did it, afraid of backlash. They think they own the idols and can do whatever they wanted with them.. I mean look at chens story.. What he did was very normal thing as a human.. He found his love and have a beautiful baby.. Instead of supporting him they just bashed him.. When i was watching a interview about what normal people think of idols dating one answer literally boiled my blood.. The person straight up said they feel betrayed as they spent money on the idols.i mean this is such a horrible answer... I too spend most of my money in a supermarket.. By this logic i should start claiming the store is mine as i spent soo much money on it... Instead of building a branch in next city they should have built it near my home.. Lol.. Please wake up.. Look if you are a true fan and have really interested in their music the personal life of artist shouldn't bother you as you are here for their music.. The companies are definitely to be blamed here.. They limit the interaction of idols.. They place a stricter dating ban and what not.. For these companies the idols are just a product.. Atleast the fans should understand and support them instead of bashing them for everything..

    These fans are immature that is why most of them are trolls.
    Why don't get why Kpop Stars don't get to date while USA Pop stars are allowed to date.
    American fans do equally terrible things to their favorite singer.
    This is why my country has less music groups because the kpop industry is so toxic and what not plus we mostly have solo singers.
    We have competition shows like the voice and American Idol to make people in to music stars. If Americans want to they be form boy groups and girl groups but it's only if they all sound amazing harmony. Ex: One Direction and Fifth Harmony.
    The US Pop industry is Shady but at least the companies let their singers be human beings unlike Kpop stars.

    No wonder some Idol's are driven to suicide too. The beauty obsession creeps me out. Like the way people go on and on about Cha Enwoo's looks over and over again behind his back or to his face. Don't get me wrong, he is very attractive, but sometimes he looks uncomfortable with the over the top compliments about his looks, even though he smiles. I do like how his fans always try to point out that there is more to Enwoo than his looks.

    I don't think it's just a few toxic fans in a fandom. The entire kpop industry is set up to strip idols of their individualism and personal freedoms to become a living model of a "perfect" person that doesn't exist and is available to literally everyone to play out their fantasies with, monitor their personal lives, judge them, or harass them. Even when they walk off the stage, they are always putting on a show and paranoid because they know their lives aren't their own at any point. That's not because of a few fans. It's the entire industry that controls them. I have a love/hate relationship with kpop because of this and support any idols branching out of it professionally.

  • @wanr5701
    @wanr5701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    That's what happened when the idols are expected by companies and fans to be perfect from the very start instead of letting them evolved in the public eyes from nobody to somebody.
    I mean, why can't they follow Western model? Even J-Pop somewhat following Western models and their idols are relatively better off. It is refreshing to see the idols and artists evolved right in front of us.

    • @adriannechikawotablog5466

      Some J-Pop agencies also pay their trainees (example - Johnny'a Jr) while they're in training b/c they're already offered outside projects (TV guestings, back dancing for their senior groups/artists, CMs, etc.). Basically, training under agencies is already considered a job (probably to keep them motivated). They don't have to go through extreme measures such as plastic surgery or those deadly strict dieting, etc.
      There are toxic fans in J-Pop too, but cases such as what's shown in this video isn't as common. And if they get caught, these toxic fans do get in major trouble with the law.

    • @wanr5701
      @wanr5701 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adriannechikawotablog5466 I think another reason for the J-Pop idols to get paid while still under trainee contract, is to avoid legal issues associated with labour law and exploitation of workers. While the allowance as a trainee is not as high as full idols, the fact that the agencies rarely - if ever - impose all the training debts upon the idols and trainees gives them a better emotional and social safety net. All despite they are not as famous outside their own country.
      On the other hand, I do think the toxic culture of K-Pop rooted from the greed of the companies to capture the slice of the pie in the overly saturated industry. Their frightening tendency to forgo legal actions against the fans and neglecting the well being of the idols for the sake of their own wallet explains a lot of their actions to allow toxic fans behaviour.

Regardless of the company, idols are not being protected enough and barely anyone who has done something malicious has been held accountable. I do agree with your points but I also think that in the end, it's still the decision of the person whether or not to write a hate comment. I feel like these toxic people have innate problems whether at home or elsewhere and they seek validation in wrong ways. I am interested in the psychology of this, why toxic fans do what they do.
