    Really good lessons.
I have been playing Tamborim in a samba group for 6 months.
We have a good teacher but he rarely has time to explain in detail.
Your videos are a great supplement.
    Accompasso😊

Do you also play the 2X2 virada technique ? That's the way i was taught back then by famous french samba percussionnist Jean-Christophe Jacquin back then when he came back from Brazil. This technique Was popular in 80's and 90's but it seems that since 2000's the 3X1 took the lead.

Thanks so much for your comment and interesting observation. I have noticed that same tendency among Rio's tamborim players over the years. The 2x1 technique (or 2x2 as you call it) does seem to be much less common these days, while 3x1 is widespread. I love and can play both techniques. However, since my tamborim students seem to pick up the 3x1 more easily in general, I switched to teaching them that method a few years ago -- hence that's what I show in this video. But both approaches are great and, in my opinion, are examples of the rich diversity of the samba. Even within each technique, there is a lot of variation from teacher to teacher. Jean-Christophe Jacquin is great, and I love his DVD In the Heart of Rio's Baterias. We paraded together in Rio back in the day.

We play "ich spiel samba, was du spielst samba, ja ich spiel samba, was du spielst samba.
    A bit different.

Cool! Do you have a video of this so I can hear how it sounds?

In Rio i heard the "stabilizing bar" referred to also as something like "saudinho" (saida=exit?) wondered if you'd heard that.
"South Africa Cuba Mozambique" is also a cool mnemonic for teleco teco. I always like to hear new ones. Thanks for sharing.

@@patdaveydrums Sorry for the delay in responding; I just saw your comment now. I have not heard that term before. Nor have I heard your mnemonic for teleco-teco, which is really cool. If I understand it correctly, the syllable Mo of Mozambique starts on beat 3, right? Thanks for participating on the channel!
