I'm glad that it was Aaron's decision to tell the family and not Chas or Cain taking it upon themselves. He needs to have as much control over the situation as possible.
The dynamic going on between Aaron and Cain in this story is so true to real life and needed to be adressed exactly like it is being. It´s the typical behaviour from family members or people in general who cannot show their feelings to save their lives even though they care to death. I´m a little bit like that too. And a situation like this would be so awkward indeed, I would be like Aaron and Cain to a point probably.
