A beautiful song performed perfectly. When I take my dogs (both females) out for a walk, I first call their attention; “Come on, my fair and tender ladies”.
Very old tune sang by many: The Carters, The Whites - but The Osborne Brothers rendition has to be the most beautiful, IMO. Aside from the lyrics and the awesome harmony - that banjo, that mandolin, the fiddle, this is the real deal!
This cannot compare to Anita Carter's version, which this version is very similar to in many ways. Anita's version has better vocals and the instruments match the tone and content of the lyrics. This version is still great
While I think the Osborne's version is great, I definitely prefer the Carters version, check this live performance. I love the auto-harp and Anita plays bass. It's the best version ,you just can't beat the Carters with Anita and Helen. Cheers ! It's all good ! th-cam.com/video/L2HoWKH3bLU/w-d-xo.html
The PERFECT cover of this song in its original version 🎶 I can’t help but recommend The Rankin Family version. Quite different and haunting in a way. I still come back to this afterwards! Every time. And The Whites. I’m sure there’s others as well…..
I love listening to these fellows singing together. ❤
Some of the best harmony ever! Sorry we lost them. They are in a much better place!
Rest in peace to my beautiful father who played and sang this song perfectly. Miss u dad.
Can't get better than this. Absolutely perfect. Every time I hear their version, it sounds better and better.

This is what makes my romantic heart breakes in two.
Beautiful song and great 3 part vocal harmony, don't know who owns the third voice but it's good.
It sounds like Dale Sledd. It is definitely Hal Rugg on steel guitar, and he played on their albums in the late 60's and early 70's.
I think Ronnie Reno sang a little for them before or after Merle Haggard.
🎆♥️💕♥️
QUE BUEN TEMA
At least that's what I heard on WSM
