In my younger years, early 60s, we had radio only for a few years so kid radio programs were enthralling. Absolutley the best way to grow your own imagination. Now at 64 i find myself returning to descriptive audio option settings when streaming movies during sleep/rest. Mr. Frye is spectacular in so many ways, but his audio reads are superb! Well Done!
Such wonderful rich and detailed worlds the voice of Stephen Fry evokes. Witty and humorous - Thank you! What a gift - and surely years of hard work to get there...
Stephen really takes you into the stories as though you can picture events, .. just like when I was a little kid at school and our teacher read us stuff like Robinson Crusoe and Black Beauty. Lovely to listen to snuggled up in a warm bed hugging a pillow for comfort 🙂
The breakfast scene is so funny and illustrative of our making the gods in our image. The Kardashians each have their own mansion, but the Greek gods bunk together on Olympus and share nectar jars.
Mr. Fry is absolutely bonkers crazy and genius. I loved and read Roman & Greek mythology in college and adored the stories. Only Fry could stand the classics on its ear with unexpected humor. He is such a singular man while I couldn’t be noticed naked in the desert selling tacos. Genius helps
Absolutely delightful, start to finish. Genius with plentiful humour and a true writer's brio bringing some rather tangled and obscure ancient myths to life.
Lol; I’m loving the humorous re-telling of this classic Greek myth; especially the fact that Fry seems to have given (hero) Persius the voice and personality of ‘David’, from the BBC show Heartbeat! (Will definitely be hearing this performance!!) Thank-You!!!
Oh Lord so could I.., listen to him reading the phone book, dictionary, encyclopedia. I just want to hear his voice. And from everything I've heard and read and seen, he is an amazing person.
When you boil it all down, there are only seven stories in all of literature, and the Greeks gave us all of them. Overcoming the Monster Rags to Riches The Quest Voyage and Return Rebirth Comedy Tragedy
I loved Fry's version of Harry Potter, got it on Scamazon/Audible, the rest of the series are narrated by someone else and I didn't bother. Dudes voice is, to me, as iconic as Orson Welles, James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman.
What an excellent reading by Stephen Fry! And the sound is perfect too! What a delightful surprise. The vast majority of audiobooks do not come anywhere near these standards.
I enjoy everything historic and mythical . Add the God's, Greece, and Stephen Fry. Well, it was just a sublime combination. Though it ended all to soon, only moments after it started. Or so it seemed. I have a question..... Was that the entire book? Or is the rest to be purchased?
Stephen demonstrates that myth and religion stories can be very entertaining and could teach people a thing or two as well, but to live your life governed by fairy tales is just crazy.
I could listen to this man read the phone book.
He was doing that for about 8 months during 97-98 and had gotten halfway through L-Z when Google was launched and the project had to be mothballed
He is an amazing reader!! His reading of a Harry Potter book chapter is, to this day, one of my favorite of all time ❤
Is it a Greek phone book?
Beautiful voice
Me too ,
I love the way a narrator can bring a story to life. Stephen Fry does have a magical voice.

Absolute legend of a man, we love you here in Ireland too Stephen 👍💚💚🇮🇪👍
I've been 'sleeping' with Stephen for years! He could read a CVS receipt and delightfully relax me.
I love this man😊. He is a great writer and is able to tell stories better than anyone else❤
It’s the accents that do it for me. He’s made it such a British story, and that lens makes this retelling all the more fascinating 🥰
The breakfast scene is so funny and illustrative of our making the gods in our image. The Kardashians each have their own mansion, but the Greek gods bunk together on Olympus and share nectar jars.

Absolutely delightful, start to finish. Genius with plentiful humour and a true writer's brio bringing some rather tangled and obscure ancient myths to life.
It would be superfluous to declare ''May the gods be with you, dear fellow!'', for it is clear they all are. Superb in every way, of course.💐
Brilliantly read, Stephen Fry. You never fail!❣️
I love Andromeda and co being Welsh! Stephen Fry is excellent both as author and narrator. i could listen to him all day.
What a great orientation, it's amazing how I never realised that Greek God's and Heroes had such strong Welsh accents 😀
Great to hear the voice of Stephen Fry - love the delivery.
Wow! His voice! His reading!!
Stephen Fry has the most wonderful voice. I could picture it all. Thank you!!!
Loved this. Never thought mythology could be so much fun.

I don't know how he does it but when he reads in Hera's voice, I hear Maggie Smith and see her acting the part in my mind
I love Perseus's North English accent! Bravo
Stephen Frry😁😆😅🤣😂❤💜💙💚💛🧡
"Perseus, is it inside of that can?"
"Nar, tin tin tin." 😁
@@theITGuy-no3nt proper snort laughed at that ( and properly needed it too , thank you 😊)
A suttle way of portraying Perseus' closeness to his Fisherman father❤
This video is masterly in every aspect. A pure delight!
Beautifully narrated and Bravo for the unusual and imaginative depiction of my favorite tale. Joy unbounded: there’s more!!
Andromeda is Welsh? I could not be more peachily pleased. Lovely.
P
Iv listened to these stories about 3 times not. They never get boring as Stephen reads them so well and bring the stores to life. 😃
Oh. Thank you. I was never offered this classic. I plan to understand these Greek stories.
This seems a little of early messages to humanity. Or at least a way to express reasons for the unknown. Well done Stephen Fry. Well done.
When you boil it all down, there are only seven stories in all of literature, and the Greeks gave us all of them.
Overcoming the Monster

❤ Thank you Penguin books and Stephen Fry❤
I'm loving this, if I may be so presumptuous as to call you Stephen, once again you excel, thank you.
the best wy to learn english is too listen to it, this channel has perfectly proved that, thank you stephen fry, a legendary voice
Didn't realise the Graeae came from Lancashire. Beautifully and comically done!

Oh my... I am listening to this, and just can not stop giggling. Stephen Fry if you ever read this u r amazing!
Oh, how delightful my laughter has reach Olympus thanks to Stephen Fry's characterisations and spirited hight pitch of a real Brit.
Here is the best way to enjoy mythology! Sure wish I had this in high school. 1:22:36

His voice is liquid gold.
Ohhhh Steven, I could listen to you all day, every day! ❤
A wonderful tale! Thank you.
What an excellent reading by Stephen Fry! And the sound is perfect too! What a delightful surprise. The vast majority of audiobooks do not come anywhere near these standards.
This was wonderful to listen to
Marvelous job, thanks Mr. Fry for this great work.
My word, sorry dear Stephen, but that thumbnail photo, makes you look just like the amazing Margaret Rutherford. Luckily I love both of you. ♥
Thanks Stephen, thanks Penguin Books
Perseus sounds like a young Alan Bennett :)
excellent narration
many thanks
This is hilarious! "NOT LIKE YOU'RE TAKING A CRAP!"
I know!
Brilliant. Love the use of regional accents. Thank you.
I know it will be good. Now to listen.
I bought the book but had difficulty with the pronunciation of the characters' names in my mind. This vid solves that problem, thank you.
Andromeda as a Welsh lass - hilarious! "It twas all my mother's fault, look you."
I contend that Stephen Fry has brought more joy into this world than Jesus, Allah, and the various Buddhas combined.
I agree. He's certainly brought less sorrow.
Because you've met every one of them, along with Stephen himself.
@@selimgure That is not even complete enough to be called a statement. What are you on about?
What a strange thing to think! Good Lord. 🙄

My channel was partially inspired by this man’s work. Great stuff!
This is brilliant!
Stephen we love you❤ love and hugs always… love this book sweetheart ✨🕊✨❤️
Poor Medusa, always a quest for the heroes to inflate their egoes..
Beautifully read
Love the voice of Perseus.
This is a great find!!!
Thanks...
Loved listening ....
Apparently, pre-classical Greeks took for granted that the Ethiopian Andromeda was black. Odd that anyone would think she was white.
This ismy favourite graham norton show

Thank you for this!!!!

Stephen Fry's Narration for mythos was far much better
Much better or far better but never, far much better
You don't think that he did a good job of capturing the authors voice?? I'll check it out.

After spending years all over Africa, can confirm, Welsh is the main ethnicity of Ethiopia 😂
I studied mythology in depth when I was in grade and jr high school but it was never this funny and entertaining 🤣
I love Stephen Fry, but a cockney accent for Hermes seems like an odd choice.
I wish Steven could babysit my kids too.
I came to listen because Margot Robbie said she only falls asleep listening to his audiobooks. 😂❤
Nicely read 🏹
Stephen demonstrates that myth and religion stories can be very entertaining and could teach people a thing or two as well, but to live your life governed by fairy tales is just crazy.
Love this!
Delightful!
When I imagine a perfect Brit, I think of Stephen Fry !
I had only heard a part of the story of Perseus before.
Wow this was brilliant
Great stuff.
How good! 👍👍👍
Pretty average story. But made into a classic by the wonderful and involved narrative performance. Excellent.
So good 😊
loved it❤
Very entertaining!
