Was there many times over 20 years ago. Our route started at El Palomar Hotel in Santo Thomas and went to Mikes and back. Also to Melling Ranch. Brings back many memories of epic rides in Baja.
So this is what your up to Scotty.... well can't say i blame you, we did our time over on the baja and now we're off exploring the mainland in out class a rv. I liked big bikes "goldwings" and now the wife and I are rolling mexico in a 40 foot Winnebago towing our Jeep wrangler. We're days away from 2 weeks in Mazatlan and then our final destination of 3 months in La Penita. The zombie bus looks different, no longer grey, you've made t respectable... hahaha b e well Mr, enjoy the rides, be safe out there...
Hey guys, nice video and I like what you guys have been doing for the dirt bike / dual sport community, especially in Baja - thanks! I'll be riding in Baja for a few weeks shortly with two of my friends - we will be riding 500's. if you'd be up to join us for some of the riding or lunch let me know and we can plan something! Keep up the good videos!
Haven't watched all your videos.Just wondering if you know how Zoo road got it's name. The official name is Saltito road. A long time ago, before there was an El Dorado ranch, there was was a guy that sold sodas and snacks at the east end of that road, where the San Felipe Brewery is now. He also had a small petting zoo and a collection of carved wooden animals. The place was called the San Felipe Zoo by the locals. Racers started refering to Saltito road as Zoo road.
I believe that Saltito road got it's name because it goes past Diablo dry lake. It ends where it intersects highway 3. It used to be part of the main road from San Felipe to Ensenada before highway 5 got paved
Hi Steph and Scott nice to meet you up at the ranch that was a great day, good luck in your adventures

Great to see that the renovation of the pool at Mike’s are done. I’m assuming the water was a bit cold? 😀
The renovations turned out great. Looks amazing!

That’s a great story and a cool piece of Baja history! We heard about the Zoo just didn't know the original road name.

@@robertkinson6527 Often think about what Baja was like in the 1960's. That's likely why we keep exploring away from pavement.
