I loved the story about the charms he got from people. And I totally understand his desire to carry it with him. It's not about superstition, it's about carrying the goodwill and good intentions of people whom he has affected, and using it to lift his spirits and remind himself what it's all about.

44's depth of thought, critical thinking skill and ability to clearly verbalize his thoughts is such a contrast to 45's! Real substance to this man as opposed to a fraudulent reality TV personality. Unfortunately it seems a significant segment of the American population views reality TV as real.
Why is Obama so cool?
His parents and grandparents did a great job.
He probably has been through so much, and educated himself so much about people, that might have played a part. Don't worry, you are cool yourself, everyone has something unique about them :)

His wife is popular, and I love her. She often overshadows him in popularity - But he's the man who's held steadfast, he's the man who's literally the tree/bark/foundation, grounding point. This is an incredible man, to have served as president for so many years - not for praise, appreciation, but to know inside to do his part on healing suffering.

The juxtaposition of the giant oak tree that grows out of a tiny acorn. That’s my guess, something along those metaphorical lines.
And honestly, that’s a pretty good metaphor for President Obama. Mixed kid who grew up with his single, white mother in middle America… you almost couldn’t have lower expectations for a young Barry, or more humble beginnings. That kid became president.

We've all been there James, my boy. For me, it happened over and over. Inaugural dance... Singing Marvin Gaye... Beige suit... Basketball... Jogging... Surfing... Playing with Beau... Not taking shit from Putin... Talking about his wife and daughters. Yes... we have all smiled, whilst shifting our seated position, sighing and feeling warm all over. A respectful, platonic, but somehow still very romantic love.
The humility in talking about his doubts, failings and fears is humbling.

I've always seen Obama's slow talking style as a strength. He doesn't try to out-talk and steamroll his opponents like a lot of other people try to do. It's always a calm, measured response that clearly communicates his point and leaves the door open for constructive discussion.
