The dwarf tomatoes you sent to me from the seed club are the only ones that have survived the Florida heat wave & tsunamis, we’ve been getting. I lost all of my other varieties but they look very healthy and beautiful. I love them so much I’m starting some more for my fall crop! I think I’m with you on the dwarf tomatoes all the way!
I'm definitely excited to try out dwarf tomato plants. I really like cherry tomato plants just because they are small. So it seems like Id like a small plant with some slicers ans sauce tomatoes.
Great idea to have some diversity, and it's awesome that you can achieve that with dwarf varieties. For people who can, there's still a place for more typical varieties too, of course.
I'm growing some dwarf beefsteak this year and I've been very happy with them. I would say though, do make sure to stake them. I had a a branch absolutely loaded with almost 1lb fruits that snapped. Luckily they were blushing and I didn't lose them.
yay! I've never gone tomatoes from seed but this is my first year growing dwarf varieties from the garden center. And it was really hard to find them. So I'm going to try still this summer and I'm excited about what you guys are going over there
what do you spray on your tomato plants to get rid of pests? Mine are covered with spider webs which probably means lots of bugs around. Would never pluck and pop one right in my mouth.
I’m going to plant these next year. I have very tall raised beds & traditional tomatoes was super difficult this year and I had to pull them already. I was so sad
I’m highly considering dwarf tomatoes for next year. I’m the only one who eats tomatoes in my house so a huge plant isn’t ideal for just me. Way too much space taken up when I can grow something smaller with more companions the rest of my family will eat.
I bought dwarf tomatoes from you and can’t wait to grow them. One thing I noticed is that the ones I got say they are indeterminate. Does that indicated that they will grow like a vine and will need a trellis system like other indeterminates or should I expect them to bush and be supported by a stake like the ones in this video?
We were trialing this summer, so we didn't have them on our site. It's been a few months (blame the baby brain), but that may have been the Sweet Scarlet. Here are all the seeds we carry: sandiegoseedcompany.com/product-category/vegetables/tomatoes/?fwp_tomatoes=dwarf-tomato-seeds
We make a new one each year! The planting info won't really change (maybe some additions), but the tips, links, coupon codes, and other features (ex. we expanded the garden notes) will change. We try to make it better every year, but 2023 is on sale since there are only 5 months left this year. sandiegoseedcompany.com/product/tools-and-merchandise/urban-farming-planting-calendar/
@@SanDiegoSeedCompany I love your calendar...it is such a wealth of information and I appreciate how much time y'all must have put into it. I will be buying it every year.
Great question! Many varieties are indeterminate, but some are determinate. Being a dwarf variety doesn't dictate how & when the fruit will be ready to harvest.
thanks for the reply. I already have some micro tomatoes and I’m wanting to try dwarf tomatoes. Pls pls tell me the smallest (in height ) dwarf tomato you have available for purchase right now. TIA! 😊
I love the idea but I’d like more content creators to talk about how dwarf tomatoes do in hot and/or humid climates like 10a Florida. I appreciate the fussiness about taste but I’d select for resilience instead.
I planted a handful of your dwarf Romas in my greenstalk and they are doing so much better than my indeterminate. My first time growing romas too.
Nice! How many did you fit in there?
@SanDiegoSeedCompany I have six planted through the two middle tiers.
I would love to grow those kinds in my small space ♥️👍👩🌾😊 thank you Bridjette, nice to see and hear you take care and the little guy 🙏🏻♥️
Love the idea of dwarf tomato plants that aren’t just cherry!
Such a great variety within them!

Such a bummer about the losses, but glad to hear some survived at least!
What was the specific variety?
@@littlegreen5845 They are the dwarf Roma tomatoes. I am very happy with them.
I am growing your Rosella Purple and it is incredible
Nice! That's one of our favorites for sure. Is this your first dwarf tomato?

First summer for growing dwarf tomatoes. I'm excited to see how they turn out how they turn out and taste.
Sweet Sue will make it, for sure!

What is the name of the Romas at 1:30
I would really be interested in the Roma type drawf. Couldn’t find them on your web site. I have a green stalk and believe it would work well in there
We'll be adding some new varieties in the coming months!
I called this seed company, left a message but never heard back. I so want to order some seed.
The best way to place an order is through our website. We don't handle orders over the phone.
Since there are less leaves, is there less disease?
I just placed an order and I’m looking forward to growing them next spring 🙌🏾
Is it recommended to prune suckers on these dwarfs or do you just let them bush out? I think my wife bought at least ten dwarf varieties from you lol

They'll still be bushy, but the plant will give fruit over a period of time instead of all at once
What is the first variety that you show in this video? I can't find it in the comments or description

Are there dwarf heirlooms?
That's a great question. They seem like they've been manipulated to satisfy large scale agricultural grow.
They are bred to be heirloom like as far as taste, texture, shape and color goes. These are not flavorless hybrids like you'd buy in a grocery store.
@@soltari2007 Heirlooms have VIABLE seeds as well as flavor.
@@badassmother1426 As do virtually all dwarf tomatoes. They are not hybrids. They are true to type. You can save the seeds.
@@soltari2007 Thank you for answering my question. I won't buy a plant or vegetable unless I can save and grow the seeds.
What us the name of the 1st one
Was just wondering about your growing calendar ~ do you do a new every year? Wasn't sure if I should just buy the 2023 or wait for 2024 version 🤔

Indeterminate dwarf? 🤯🤯🤯
Pls tell me the smallest in height when full grown that you have. That’s the one I’ll purchase.
The absolute smallest? You're looking at a micro like Tiny Tim: sandiegoseedcompany.com/product/vegetables/tomatoes/tiny-tim-tomato-seeds/
