Bruhhhhh so I I didn’t know the driver door didn’t lock so I went in my bmw x5 and locked all doors and got out through the back and locked it again and I was like Allright I’ll see it it works with the key but it didn’t I was like wtf so I had to drag my window down the one one he right side passenger in the back , oh yeah I did not mention that my window is fucke up it won’t go down nor up , so yeah I dragged it down and went through the door and unlocked the doors ,it has been 5 days that my doors been all unlock and I told myself damn imma have to get another key and program it because I’ve been trying to program it again and it didn’t work and I watched this video and I was like hope it works this time and it actually worked and I got excited asf , all I gottta say is thank you for this video I’m happy asf and yeah this a long ass story and now I have to fix my window sheeeeeesh 😂😕

I have the same problem but this method didnt work for me. Does that mean that the key is completely dead?

I had to replace my key about 7 months ago and could not program them with the directions the dealer gave me, so I finally gave up. I watched this video tonight and went out to my car and tried it. I finally got the keys programmed within 2 maybe 3 minutes. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Great Advise, I had to replace the battery in 2 of my key FOBs for the same 1999 E39, I have an original tombstone shaped key, and an aftermarket Diamond shaped key. I reset them both at the same time following your directions. Easy Peasy! Thanks, Moe
Ah glad I saw this comment as wanted to upgrade to diamond keys on my 98 E38 but didn't know if I could or not :)
This guy gets it right! Some say to cycle ignition 3 times, some 5. He show how to do it in just 1 time.

Perfect! Worked on 2001 E53 X5. As mentioned before, the "key" to success is a quick key turn in the ignition. Flick of the wrist. No need to hold it in position 1 for any amount of time.
It wasn't working for me in my 01 x5 but I did it without leaving it in position one for any amount of time and doing it very quickly worked. Thanks!

No need to be quick and brutal. A steady pace of about one action per second works fine

I have to admit I was skeptical. I got three different types of directions from a mail order locksmith who did the keys for my 2002 BMW 525i (E39). His didn’t work. THIS DID!!! Thank you so much! 😊

Mine was the older chunkier style key fob with soft rubber pads worn flat from 25yrs of use (same fob as my older E34) with a big circle button with uncoloured roundel logo with LOCK above it, and two squarish buttons below, adjacent to each other.
The unlock button - the one you hold down while pressing and releasing lock 3x - is the squarish button on the LEFT

I bought an E39 from my brother and for a year he opened the doors with the key because he thiught it would be expensive to code the remote key to the car but thanks to this video the remotes work again :)

Wow! I was just about the try to take apart the key to change the battery. For those of you who have explored this, it's like minor surgery! I would've needed to cut through the keyfob exterior and done some soldering before gluing it back together. I wasn't looking forward to that. I'm so happy I looked at your video. I was able to reprogram the key and now it works.

2000 E-38 Worked perfectly, as described. Original problem was a small amount of brown battery corrosion inside the 18 year old key fob. Symptom was couldn't disarm the alarmg. Now we have two fully working key fobs. Thank you very much. Thank you too for getting to the instructions quickly. I need to leave in the car and didn't have much time to hang around 'learning.' Good info.

Perfect. It worked. I had to try it a few times, but it did work. I think the buttons on my remote are worn out pretty bad. Not sure where to get a new remote, but eventually I will either sell the car, or find a key. At least my ears are going to thank me for doing that. It was going off EVERY SINGLE time I disarmed it.... AND BRU!!! that alarm is painful. it's got to be at least 110 Decibels. It's LOUD AF!!!!!!

It works! I saw another video instructing to close all doors, well that didnt work obviously 😬. I have to say i need to try a couple of times to make it and almost thought my key was out of battery but i was quite confident it's not the case as this is a new duplicated key. Again thanks so much! 🙏

Thank you so much for this video bro, both my key fobs stopped working on my 2000 M5 at the same time, so I knew it wasn't batteries causing the problem. After driving around like a savage opening my car door and trunk the old fashioned keyhole way, took it to a friend who reprogrammed one key to car using this method in less than 5 seconds but he kept putting the second key in the ignition which would knock out the reprogram of first key. Then I see your video and VOILA now I have 2 working keys again!! Now if you could just make a video on how to recalibrate my Navigation, my M5 would be perfect!! LOL
My 2005 X5 remotes would not sync at all until I turned ignition to position 2 (ignition on) and quickly off again. Not sure what is wrong with my car but I went on a wild goose chase trying to find the problem. If yours won't work using this method, definitely try it using position 2.
Yo, this shi worked on my 2002 530i, the remote was broken for so dam long man, or at least I thought. I tried this method out and it worked, now I can actually unlock and lock this door without having to put in the door keyhole lmao. This shit works!!

Careful .. (Please correct me i you know different) The Key actually has 2 circuits. One is the remote control. Everything this guys says here is true. Also inside the remote is a little chip. The chip is not connected in any way to the remote .. its just sharing the same enclosure. It is read by a reciever by the keyhole .. this chip certifies to the car that you are a legitimate driver. If you get a new key and use this guys proceducre (in the BMW manual as well) it will open the car and adjust the seats etc ... but it will not start the car .. until the chip is registered by a person who has the tool to do that. Best Regards

This works perfectly. The problem i am having is that for some reason the new key won't start the darn car, yet it will open it up and everything else. But This works
This method is just to resync the central locking with the key, in order to start the car with a new key you have to program the key and the car
Worked first time, however next time I tried to lock/unlock it didn't work. Must be something wrong on my end. Good video sir.
You might have a low battery on your key
Same thing with I tried but the key sometimes works and sometimes it doesn’t. Maybe you should make a video on battery replacement

Mike Molina yes...the car will remember the radio station, climate settings, seat position, and other small settings for every key separately. You can use one key for one driver with his settings and 2nd key for the next driver with different settings.

It works perfectly but after a while the keys doesnt unlock the car anymore so i have to program it again .how can i stop this from happening
This happened to me too. Idk if it desynced or what but almost immediately after syncing it wouldn't work. Manual unlock triggered the alarm. I had to lock and unlock with original key to get it to stop screaming. Synced again and took the car for a drive to maybe charge the key fob and it seems to be working for now.
For my 08 X3 when it worked, it only unlocked the driver's side to acknowledge it worked, but everything else was the same and worked perfectly. Btw, it doesn't work if you accidentally put it to the second position.

my bmw doesnt unlock with the buttons anymore, and when i open the car all 4 windows go down and i have to wait like 3 mins for the windows to come back up, hopefully this will work. gonna try tomorrow. cheers dude.
