Just wanted you to know that it never ends. Being a parent is forever, I have been yacht racing since the age of 8 years old. I have two kids that grew up watching me trying to and winning state tittles and national tittles in all manner of boats, but they never were interested in doing it. I now live on the mighty Huon river where it meets the Southern ocean at the bottom of Tasmania. My now 31 year old son just moved here and when being short handed to do a race he reluctantly joined us. I now can’t get him off the boat! I sail a 26 foot sports yacht and at the age of 62 I have the immense pleasure of teaching my son how to sail, how to win and how to lose, parenting never ends and it is an honour.......but not always easy! Go for it and enjoy. Dale from Tassy.
My first day of work a the hospital I was so nervous in the morning. I walked in and went into the lobby bathroom. Whilst standing there emptying my bladder I hear high heels walking around from the opening stall. She walked up to the sink and started washing her hand, then she noticed me taking a leak. I had notice her right away. Honestly, she was strikingly beautiful. Then all of a sudden she walk over toward and swings he bag at me and hit me in the back and called me a pervert. “What the hell are you doing in here”, she yelled. Then walked out. I was shocked thinking I had walked into the women’s bathroom. Then I realized I was standing at a urinal. When I walked out to the lobby she was across the way talking a security officer and pointing at me. When I walked over I could hear the officer asking her why she was in the men’s bathroom. Then she realized her mistake. She was so embarrassed and apologized for ten minutes before offering to by me lunch in the cafeteria that afternoon. I excepted. Long story short. We got married two years later and not have an 8 and 10 year old. The END...
I'm a fight nurse on a helicopter. I think of everyone in my care as my mother, child or brother and I work to keep them alive. Thank you for giving me something to look forward to after a long shift and a goal to keep people alive so maybe we can all live like you do. Love!
Clinical Psychologist here. I love the work of helping people through very common (and uncommon) problems which each person/couple feels are so unique. It is amazing how many problems are things that we all have experienced to one degree or another. Many times people feel so hopeless, and while they have to work hard, it is amazing walking with them through very dark times. I can't think of any "funny stories" now, but I can just say that working with college kids (we live in a University town) is especially rewarding when they are completing therapy, as we have developed a deep caring for one another that is usually reserved for close friends and relatives. This intimacy is a reward in itself.
One thing I'm Waiting to see. Riley holding up his son, the stars and the sea spread to the horizon, and telling the lad "..And THIS, is your Playground"
I don't like being old and in hospice but I am very thankful to be at home with family. I love living through your lives on this adventure together via your videos! One of my funniest days sailing with my wife was when she tossed an aspirin bottle to me in the cockpit and of Course it missed me and went overboard. NO PROBLEM, I'll just pop in the dinghy and get it. It was VERY windy and choppy and the dinghy line got away from me so it was heading towards shore at about 5 knots. That was the first and only time that ever happened to us but "IT" happens. NO PROBLEM, we have 2 inflatable kayaks on deck but only one was 1/2 inflated. At first I grabbed the wrong air pump, then the right one, pumped it up just enough and launched her paddling for my life to catch our dinghy. NO PROBLEM, I caught the dinghy, tied the kayak to her and started the engine. Instantly the dinghy line got caught in the prop ending that plan as I and by 2 small boats were now being blown to the surfline. NO PROBLEM, I quickly got BACK into the kayak and paddled like crazy to drag the dinghy away from shore and back to our sailboat. Did I mention it was a dark night which does make things worse. Finally I was at our boat (exhausted and still with my headache) in the kayak squaring everything away when I kept hearing a breathing sound. It scared me half to death to see a baby seal looking at me between the sailboat hull and the dinghy about 2 feet from my head. Another morning I found that baby seal sleeping in our dinghy's bow. Strange stuff at sea. A good rule, our rule, NEVER toss ANYTHING to ANYONE on the deck of a boat (unless you can live without it)! I could not live without an aspirin at the start of this cascading adventure (and most bad events do cascade into larger and badder events) but I never even remembered to look for the aspirin bottle which was long gone by then anyway. There was at least 2 other such funny adventures but hey, if you read this far I will be amazed.
I’m an intl’ airline pilot. When I cross the ocean I look down, think of you guys and think to myself, I wish I had the guts to do what you guys are doing! But in some respects, I am doing what you’re doing. Something freeing about both jobs.
Change over into BizAv and get a 14/14 or 30/30 contract. With a 30/30 contract you can live on a boat and cruise half of the year. I was about to buy a boat in 2013, but lost my medical and the financial means with it, but business aviation will give you a lot of freedom which the airlines can't offer. I know because I did both.
I'm I wine maker and winery owner and I love my job. Turning sunshine into wine. As for being a father of four girls, my absolute favorite job is being their HERO. Your description of how to talk to them is spot on. Cheers from Pennsylvania USA
On the off chance you make it this far down, Riley, I work in patient billing and am in charge of a few larger hospitals in California. I work closely with a popular cancer center. The things that make me hate my job are having to send parents medical bills for their children's treatment. The things that make me love my job are the times when I'm allowed to completely write off a bill to charity, or I can finally see a patient I've been billing for for 3+ years finally go into remission and not see their name for a while. Also I get to watch your videos at work sometimes, so that's nice.
I was a sail maker and canvas cutter and a rigger for 25 years. I've sailed on all except the Indian and the south Atlantic Oceans. NZ is my favorite country. Now retired , I ride dirt bikes near home and in far away places. I'm 74 and dangerous. I love your show.
I’m a carpenter and build homes it’s just an awesome feeling seing it all come together building someone’s dream or an architect creation. I hate my job in January after a big snow storm....slippery trusses are no fun :) I have been sailing since a very young age and own a boat now. One day will set sail south. I really admire you guys and mostly the bond you to share is palpable thru your lens. That above all is really precious. Thank you both for your work and passion. Cheers.
For about forty years I was in the billiard business. Deliveries / set ups / repair and refurbishing tables. Also above ground pools for awhile. Sales and manufacturing tables.Always a different experience every day. Whether out and about or in store I was meeting new people daily. Nowadays (I'm 72) I'm mostly at home by myself and living vicariously through you two on my computer. A real joy watching a couple making the most of life. Keep up the great job and give the little one a kiss. Greatest experience in the world is having a child.
Heartwarming to read the comments on this vlog,so many beautiful people here 💕 I am working as a medical doctor in Peru where I have been living for the past 15 years straight,I love my job because I enjoy witnessing people get better and continue on with their adventures ( I work in travel medicine ). This is the most rewarding aspect of it 💜. Love to travel too and just really enjoy your channel, your positivity and creativity.
I've been driving trucks for 20 years now and have logged over 2.5 million miles. I've been to every state in the USA and seen mu fair share of sunrises and set. I think that is my favorite part of the day. The part i dislike is when my truck breaks down. Grew up on and around the ocean. Spent alot of my younger years sailing with my parents on the west coast and miss that A LOT, watching the 2 of you sailing here there brings back those memories. keep up the awesome content! Thank you so much for sharing your lives
So I am a hotel maintenance manager. It’s surprisingly fun most of the time. I received a call late one night that the hotel had a leak coming from a very high ceiling (18 feet) I climbed our tallest ladder opened a hole in the ceiling to find a roof drain pipe leaking. As I worked on the pipe (while standing on top of the ladder) the pipe burst open. About a hundred gallons of ice cold water hit me in the face. I’m not exaggerating when I say I nearly drowned while standing on top of a twenty foot ladder. My co workers, who hadn’t realised I was drowning, were laughing uncontrollably (so was I after I caught my breath) lots of other great stories from hotel life, but most are not suitable for this format....love your channel, keep up the great work.
I spent years as a highway cop. One of my funniest memories is of being called to an incident early one morning, where a guy was smashing up a motorway emergency phone with a baseball bat. The phone in question was housed in a pedestal with a large blue light, in a square box, on the top. The guy was stoned out of his brain and we spent some time ''conversing'' as he tried to convince me that he had just saved the world from this ugly alien invader he had discovered by the side of the road!
Being a teacher provides moments of joy, tedium, anxiety, enthusiasm, sleepless nights, anticipation...and also unfiltered interactions with children. One of the best lessons ever taught to me by a student was learned through this exchange one weekday morning: Me to student, "Your mother may allow you to wear that t-shirt with swear words on it, but it is not allowed at school," to which my student promptly replied, "Don't you insult my mother." He was right and I was wrong and I have henceforth remembered that everyone loves their mother and to think before I speak.
It is always such a pleasure to watch you two especially after having a hectic day of answering the phone, scheduling and running service calls as a plumber. The worst part of my job is demanding people. The best part of my job is that I get to help people on a daily bases. Plus I get to share with many of my clients the joy of following you both on your journey. Would love to meet you both in the future. Hope to see you sail up to British Columbia some day in the near future.
Thanks for the insight into your lives and work. My "why I love my job/why I hate my job" stories will take too long or require too much backstory, although sitting in the Harley Davidson Cafe in Manhattan and watching the final closing credits of the 1996 Olympics, which I had finished editing less than 6 hours before, and knowing over 150 million people were watching my work with me was quite the treat. And the phone call 6 months later asking to verify the spelling of my name so they got it right on my EMMY didn't suck. You do great work!
I work in a high security prison, most people have no concept of how bad the negative side actually is and if i focused on the negative I'd go crazy so I chose to focus on the positive and promoted to a position that allows me to try to make the world a better place by teaching violent offenders thinking/emotional management skills so they can deal with the obstacles in their lives in a positive way and try to avoid coming back. It can be very rewarding, thanks for helping me by reminding me how wonderful the rest of the world can actually be!!!
I was married to my best friend and wife very young, she 17, me 18 to be exact. We had a child at that time and responsibility took full force. I took a job as a entry level auto mechanic and have been one for the past 22 years. I hate what I do. I've been a blue collar slave all of my life. Working very hard for little return. Our babies have since grown to full functioning adults. I've always had this pull to the ocean, we live in the land locked north east US, close to the great lake Erie. I started watching your videos which has inspired myself and my wife to pursue adventure and life long dreams we have always wanted to do. Surfing and sailing. We are looking to buy a boat soon and sail from lake erie to nova Scotia. Thanks for your videos and inspiration. Congratulations when your new arrival comes. Parenthood is the single greatest thing and failure you'll ever experience.
Hi Dave, I spent a couple of years in my youth in Erie, PA. I still have some very favorite memories of that place and sometimes Google Earth the very place we lived above French Street Dairy Market on 30th. street. The building is still there but it is something different now. Loved sledding down what we called Lupes Hill by the stadium and loved going out on Presque Isle beaches in the summer. How can one place stay so strong in ones mind? Get that boat and do it. We live in Seattle and we have sailed our long adult lives up here. Our daughter grew up on the water and sailing, now she lives on her own boat. She allows us old folks to come and visit her once in a while, so much fun to be had on the water.
Good for you guys. One advantage of having a family young is that you are still relatively young to start your new adventures. Not sure about the surf on the Lakes or up in Nova Scotia. I'm thinking wind waves and wetsuit, booties, gloves & a hood. Or am I just a soft old Aussie?
I just moved out to Fort Lauderdale and have been doing maintenance working on boats for the last few months. I just bought my first sail boat and am doing a full refit then I plan to do a circumnavigation. I have been very inspired by your videos thank you for helping me finally pursue my passion for boats.
Just would like to say thank you for these videos. I really enjoy them. I'm new to the channel, and never would have imagined sailing was something I liked until I seen this. It never even crossed my mind. But after watching your chanbel I thank I was a sailor in a past life. Just thank you.
Great video! Had a few laughs there! I'm a learning managar at a foundation for child wellbeing. The best part about my job is not only travelling but actually having to understand the people, their needs and how they think positive changes can be made for themselves
You mentioned giving the history of places you visit. That is key for me and it makes land time good. In general, when watching cruising videos, I fast forward through the land segments preferring to be at sea and under sail. But your land segments I watch because of the history you include. You two are so cute together. I love babies and look forward to watching the little guy grow up on the boat.
I love my job as a owner operator truck driver get to see different places and I’m my own boss as well. When I retire one day I’d like to sail like y’all do. Y’all are truly inspirational. I love your movies keep up the good work.
I work in North Dakota (US) in the oilfields as a Diesel mechanic. I love watching your guises show / experiences out in the beautiful waters of the world. Especially when it’s -40 outside and I have to go work in it!!
Most people hate their jobs and it’s a means to an end. Most important for me was to follow my dreams, diving was a dream and I got there, ended up a MSDT master scuba diver trainer, owned my own centre south coast of turkey. Had two beautiful kids and have a wonderful wife. While diving doesn’t make the big bucks we now back in UK, work I like totally different to diving but the main thing is life balance, I have been very fortunate to have a job that allows work home life balance and have been with both my kids through them growing up. They are now 7 & 10 and with so many things I still want to do travel, tour, it’s great to be able to do those things together as a family now. You guys rock and Lenny has one heck of a life ahead of him. Keep up the great work guys 😎🙏👍
Ive been watching for a couple years and fell in love with guys. Thank you for the wonderful journey and your ability to share. Take good care of the little one, can't wait to see him on an episode. Big hug for you both
I work at a lock station on the Rideau Canal in Ontario, Canada and I love my job because I get to meet people boating and sailing every day. Most people are local, but you get some sailboats that have come across the Atlantic or up the east coast of America and I just love hearing their travel stories and getting to welcome them to our beautiful part of Canada!
Hey Riley, I work in retail while I study at uni. The worst thing that happened to me is a customer pissed on a pile of clothes in one of the change rooms, "I really hate my job" but it helps me get through uni. You guys help inspire me to one day one day travel the world in a boat one day and it helps me get through uni when times are hard and very stressful, thank you for your videos!
Y'all do a bang up job on production, making top notch videos that are enjoyable to watch. I'm an old man that grew up on boats on the Mississippi river. I miss the life. You guys bring it back. Thanks.
My wife and I have been working ffrom home since our 2 year old daughter was born. I can say from experience, you guys and your kid are truly blessed to have you guys home together.
your channel saves me a ton on therapy..... after long day fighting traffic, dealing with unstable i have to have what i want right now or i'm going to file a complaint customers, managers who cant manage their way out of a paperbag, but hey they went to college........ watching you two sail the Bahamas is relaxing!!!!
Congratulations on the (nearly) 600k milestone. Have been following from the start and believe that the best is ahead. Enjoying the 3pw catch up episodes! We have retired and can now enjoy a lot more sailing and traveling. Looking back, it was a roller coaster and a means to an end. Grateful and hopeful for the health to continue to enable us to enjoy the lifestyle we have worked so hard for. Love your work.
My fav thing about my landlocked job is that I get to be me and share dorky sense of humor all day long to people I love. I also get to share your stories with my peeps all the while helping patients get to our rehab hospital when in need!!! You two are FANTASTIC!!! God bless!
You're skits have ALWAYS been awesome to watch. And I needed to make sure you knew that your efforts to make them are very appreciated. And your camp fire meals on a beach, sigh . So teasing the taste buds. Thank you for sharing your life
I've been shooting my own TH-cam videos for only a year or so now, (The Roving Giant) but you guys are by far my favorite channel. Keep up the great work, you inspire others to share their stories!
The fun of work you have don in the past, you always remember the funny parts, mostly you forget the negative side of the job! Staying positive, gives a better live.
Hey there vagabond. Appreciate the introspection on what you both get to spend your lives doing. As for me, I am a pediatric nurse. I work in a hospital caring for kids after heart surgery and the occasional trauma. It's wild. I can not express the range of emotion or how good the good days are, or conversely how bad the bad ones can be. I too sail and am thankful for the flexibility my work gives me to leave weeks or months at a time to see the world. Thanks for the inspiration!
Great video as always! I have been a web designer for the past 20 years, and love my job. I live and work on my 1952 wooden boat in Gibsons, British Columbia. There’s nothing nicer than working for yourself, and virtually... endless possibilities
Currently retired, much harder than working but working at it. I spent 27 years as a professional forester and 19 years as a professional gardener. Love being out of doors most of the time and working with the environment. Many of the forest areas I harvested and reforested are now nearing harvest time again. So satisfying.
I do not think i have missed one episode. Cost me a bloody fortune in lost work opportunity but you know what?. You guys are wonderful and frankly have changed my perspective towards work. Work still matters but not much. Very proud of you great Aussies.
For 6 months of the year I get to teach sailing to people who come on holiday. I love my job because everyday I get to spend it outside in the sun and on the sea. I couldn’t think of anything better than having salty hair and spending my time by the ocean. Only part of my job I hate is that it’s not all year around. That’s why I am keen to sail around the world and explore new places. Watching you do this has made me have a dream to do this to. Love watching your videos 💙
I love my job because I get to dock people like you every day, guys, girls, couples and families living their dreams on the water. Love hearing their stories and seeing their videos. Spent the first 3 years of my life living aboard my grandfathers 76ft Irwin named "Drumbeat II" He was a charter and captain for a while. Can't wait until I can trade up to a liveable sailboat and do the same.
Hey Riley and Elayna. I work as a Paramedic in Canada. I am certainly proud of being able to help those in crisis and need, but more so it has made me very aware that life can be short. I think part of why I love your channel is you guys seem to be living life to its fullest and I am grateful you have taken us along for the ride. I am married with 2 young boys and hope one day to be able to do the same with my family. And as far as work stories go, maybe one day we can sit on the bow of La Vaga over a beer and I can go on about some of the lighter more humorous reasons people call an ambulance. Cheers! 🍻
Riley just a comment about communication with my 3 sons: they are now adults and I have tried my best to be patient and positive. They told me recently that I communicated the best when I was shaking my head and stuttering. You two enjoy this time, your lives about to change immensely.
So im an aircraft maintenance engineer in the RAF in the UK working on Typhoon, I love my job because of the brotherhood of it, just this week we lost one of our lads in a motorbike crash, everyone is in absolute bits, but the way everyone has banded together and is looking out for one and another is a workplace bond not many people will ever be able to experience. sometimes hard times end up being the most memorable times, the memories what you will end up carrying with you all your life..
Absolutely love you guys and this channel, was hooked from the very first video, I’m a stay at home mom, I have a autistic daughter that I care for and your videos help with my sense of adventure and love of the ocean, can’t wait when the videos include little Lenny, much love and safe travels ❤️
Love from germany - im 19 and in my first medical semester, you inspire me so much to always carry on and try to find a positive thing to smile about even if there are hard times coming. You really inspired me to take a rest and realise that life is unbelievably beatyful. I wish you the best for your child and i hope you can inspire it as well as you did in my case. Love - Daniel
What I do for my living is invent, draw it up, prototype whatever I invent, patent it, put it into production, market it, and then sell the thing. This is so fulfilling. We have a couple of CNC mills, a few lathes, a little CNC lathe, Tig, Mig, welding, industrial sewing machine, you name it-in the shop behind our home. It is the ultimate man/woman cave and it's also why between us we have retired five times. It just won't take. We just can't sit still. We create. And Riley, I'd love to talk philosophy with you. It's another one of my pursuits. But making stuff is what we do. Both of us. Our whole boat is full of things we have made that look better than the factory stuff. We just put our heads together and invent. For instance, a thing we call a "dinner bell" which is a little contraption that rings a bell when a fish is on- in place of the usual clothes pin rig. I consider us so lucky. We have ranched, owned businesses, both taught school...in science (her) and robotics and technology (me). In addition we adopted kids, fostered kids, raised a half dozen of our own, done it all...now we are getting ready to just sail. Yeah, life is so good. Just wait...we are planning a Vblog and learning to fly a drone.
the worst part of my job, driving a truck in Norway, is working through the winter, the early starts and dark days, pulling 200kg containers of dairy produce through the snow.. the best part is the long summer days, the early finishes, and telling the guys who sometimes complain that it´s "too warm" (we had 3-4 months of 30c and almost no rain last summer) to chill their balls in the giant refrigerator behind them.. and the fact that it pays ok, and give us plenty of free time. And it´s nice to escape the winter for a few weeks every year and escape to the sunshine somewhere tropical (just returned from the Caribbean) TO be honest, I don´t really think about my job that much, just go in, do the job, and go home, like many other people I guess. Like any job, there´s ups and downs. Love that you´re channel has developed into something more than just a sailing vlog, and the video editing has come along into something much more refined, with Riley much more involved than the early days, as others have already said, one of the more entertaining and inspiring channels for those of us who love to travel. PS, what´s SLV registered as? tried to look you up on a shipping/marine tracker when we were in the Caribbean but couldn´t find your boat. Keep up the good work anyway guys :)
I love you two. I also love my current job, I'm retired and thanks to you I live on my sailboat 6 months a year in the Bahamas and then RV around the western US the other 6 months.
well, I'm a high school student, which is a full time job. Most of the time it's full of stress but whenever i get to watch one of y'alls videos, it really helps reduce that stress.
By day I am A Cashier, by night I am a Sailor. I am a cashier at Publix and have had many fun experiences. honestly my favorite part of my job is the people I work with and the times where there in no one in the store and we get to goof off, but I also love meeting people from all over the world and hearing there stories. i mentioned earlier that I am a sailor, I just started sailing this year for my high school team and fell in love with it. I hope to someday live on a boat and sail the world just like you guys have, thank you for making such great videos and sharing your experiences with me.
You are going to be absolutely LEGEND parents guaranteed 1000%!!! It will be the hardest thing(even harder on a boat) but the most rewarding thing you will EVER do. You may say OMG we are not having more. Then they get little older and you say maybe we should give them a brother or sister and you just figure it out.Like all the sailing you have figured out. I think you think it’s gonna be like when you look at other people’s kids and say,wow don’t want that really. But it’s different cuz it’s Gods gift to just you two. Wishing you all the best! Todd Wynn Ada Michigan
Dang! Y'all have had many good ones, but this is truly one of the best as is nothing more than y'all being YOU! What a great video showing what and why you do what you do. Thank you for knowing that this is what we truly want! Seeing the two of you grow yourselves into a family that will be able to raise a child very well! Look forward to seeing y'all live your lives!
Hey guys! I work in the mental health industry and my job is to manage a Canadian clinical network of counselors. The best part about the job is that I get to help people everyday deal with their work, family, or personal related issues. The part that motivates me the most is that on some small scale I get to make a difference in someone's life. Btw, love your channel, keep doing what you're doing!
We had our little boy 15 months ago, and are expecting a little girl mid-May. I suppose we're in the "working on an oil rig" phase of our sailing career. Get the kids educated on land, then take off to places unknown under sail. It's people like you two that keep our dreams alive and attainable. Good on ya' mates!
I'm a financial adviser and years ago I went to meet a couple for the first time, both of whom were vets. We were discussing the existing plans and policies they had in place and I asked to see details. They were well organised and has everything in hanging folders. Having gone through savings/investments/pensions etc. we got on to discussing life assurance. I was handed the relevant folder and began to thumb through it. To our surprise, sandwiched between the pages of the policy documents was a very squashed, but beautifully preserved dead mouse; the irony of which was not lost on us!
I"m a Canadian in Canada now, I have traveled like you two for eight yrs on and off, I've traveled to France, England, Trinidad, Venezuela by catamaran and Tobago, Bahamas. drove from Sydney to Darwin Australia in a juicy Van, traveled in a broken down RV and now live 8 blocks from the Pacific ocean. I have written some unpublished, have drawn some with Faber Castell inks, I'm retired and going to be a grandma soon, and you two and the baby have the life of being creative, imaginative, storytelling, and you know what? Just from watching you dive for fish, explore islands and unique places is an education for the world and you two do a great job!
So I work at a boat club. We have to deal with a variety of issues with the members and boats, fortunately for me, they're almost all user error. I get a call on the radio saying that "we couldn't get our boat to start and we have now washed into the shore". I race out to them only to put the boat in neutral, start it, and tell them to meet me at the club. womp womp. Thanks for putting out the extra videos you two! Y'all are killing it!
600K Woo Hoo !! Congrats La Vagabond! Thanks for ALL the bonus videos guys, and inviting US into your lives always appreciated! Best part of my job...watching your videos during lunch, worst part....everything else Hahaha!
You two are such an amazing couple. Elena is glowing in this video with her baby bump. Now that you have the newest addition onboard, Your family seems so fulfilled. I'm so happy for you both ☺⚓⛵
Thanks for this. You guys are doing an awesome job. I love my job as intercultural consultant. I am a freelancer and get to choose where and what I focus on in my work. I have worked in prisons in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Switzerland and on the african continent and seen so so many resilient and loving people in the hardest places imaginable (be it in the slums of Mumbai, Chad, or elsewhere).
I love that you two shared a few more intimate and “behind the scenes” clips this time. And you talked a bit about how you make your relationship work when you spend all this time together and edit and make videos. I’d love to hear more about how you two do it, because it can’t be easy. I know a lot of “youtuber - couples” find it difficult to maintain the relationship while putting their lives out online. Love you guys! Hope to meet you both some day.
Awsome video! Im 20 years old and i work as a personal assistant for a diabetic kid in 3rd grade in sweden. Thats my possition for work description but it includes helping, lerning and the most important playing with kids. Im recently graduated from high school and i was so done with the school in general. Then i found this job. Its been life changing for me. I wake up every morning with energy (thats a new thing) and love to go to work. The feeling when u achive to lern something for the kids even the smal things is one of the best feeling in the world. Im now about to start studying to a teacher and i cant be more happy. I know that you guys have gotten a BABY!! (CONGRATS!) and u will soon be experecing the same thing as i do every day! Sorry for my bad spelling and grammer and i wish u guys the best of luck raising your child!
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I enjoy seeing the sailing life that you share with each other and the added content of off the beaten path places that you've explored. I really enjoyed your time in Spain and thought that it was a wonderful history that I had never even heard of when you went rock climbing with your friend. I adore the sea life that you show. I don't work anymore but when I did I was working in a mental health hospital. That may not sound like fun but I actually enjoyed working with all of my clients. Unfortunately I waited too long and now I have COPD and some nerve damage in the leg makes it difficult to get around. I would have so much enjoyed being able to go out on the water for a short. Of time and experiencing the life that you are. I guess that's why I really enjoy watching you. It seems to be as close as I'm going to be able to get to experiencing it for myself. I hope that you keep it up as long as possible. Again thank you for sharing everything with us keep up the good work.
I’m an Automation Specialist(prior electrical technician for 15years) on a floating oil production facility in the Gulf of Mexico. Best part of my job is watching the sun rise over the open ocean- the worst part is the longing to get out on that ocean by myself, but not being able to. It’s a great job with super pay & benefits, I can’t see doing anything else for a ‘job’. FYI Facility coordinates are Lat28.8661 Longitude -88.0561- Horn Mountain, Mississippi Canyon 127. I would LOVE to have a small monohull one day and solo cross the Gulf of Mexico... The being alone and relying totally on your own wits & resourcefulness puts me in an awesome state of mind. You guys are inspiring! Keep it up!
I currently work and live in Hakuba Japan! I work in rental/retail store called Rhythm as a snowboard technician. The worst part about my job is dealing with smelly boots but I love recommending snowboards to people and talking about the latest tech. This is my 4th back to back winter working in the snow and once back in Aus I will be working my third season at Falls Creek. I love following the snow. I get to hang out with interesting, adventurous people and get to ski/snowboard all around the world in beautiful places :)
I know for a fact you get this a lot. But you have inspired me and my wife to follow your footsteps. Travel the world in a sailing boat. I know that not every day is all fun and dandy, but you are a role model for every person, every kid out there. You should be very proud of all the things you have accomplished and will continue to accomplish. About my job...I´m a Psychologist and just yesterday a funny thing happen. It was funny for me. I had a patient on the clinic and out of nowhere, very slowly and creepy came out a spider and went behind my patient. I was trying not to get alarmed or frighten the patient because we were in a critical part of therapy. The spider decided to go up to the roof and the patient didn´t notice at all. At the end of the session I was relieved and amazed that everything happens in this life!
After a few days of binge watching some videos of yours from 2019, seeing this as someone who's been working on the creator space for some time. This was great to see a little behind the curtain and more about the life behind the channel.
You two are inspirational to all that watch loving every time you post I'm myself in my new faze of life fine from chefing to farming, just starting out but it's a blast no more over the top pressure of a kitchen if stress arrives I go sit in my garden and just chill, anamils coming soon, I have my little mate (dog) so yes I get everthing you are saying and life is amazing OK love from Australia (darwin river NT) stay safe keep smiling and rock on brother and sister 😄❤
You guys do a fantastic job and I know it's a lot of work to put out that kind of high quality day in and day out. Congrates on your new baby and closing in on 600K subscribers. 1,000,000 coming soon.
Im a car spraypainter/ panelbeater and I absolutely love it! Finding what you love to do eventually comes from just jumping to the first sign of a challenge and never be afraid/ un-enthusiastic to learn something new
I work as a Systems Engineer and as Elayna knows a little bit I got to go to Antarctica and support science on the ice for the NZ Mission. I love my job because it enables me help in these things that hopefully add a little bit of value. I love my life because I can watching Sailing La Vagabonde and gain perspective about life whilst still continuing my daily passions. Thank you, lots of love to Lenny!
Nine years ago I left my calling, family law clerk, for a Gov't job (financial reasons; pension/benefits) and now I'm just a paper pusher with little to no job satisfaction. The only thing that makes it worthwhile is that I can afford to provide for my daughter. Parenthood makes it all worthwhile. You two (now three) have, what appears to be, the perfect lives. Thank you for sharing.
I am a maintenance controller for a major airline. My primary job is to answer radio calls from pilots needing assistance from toilets not flushing in flight to major issues. One time I received a call from a pilot who was losing fuel over the northern Atlantic. The rate of his fuel loss left no options for diversion. We racked our brains, poured over schematics, tried resets, ran new calculations and more over 2 hours. Finally at 1.5 hours into this call the fuel usage totally stopped... Scratching our heads and reviewing component schematics we determined that a fuel densety mesuring sensor failed as 2 wing fuel level sensors slowly failed at the same time... once the fuel was lower than those two sensors the readings slowly returned to what they should be... That was the roughest day of my life and the most emotional day I've ever had at work. I thought I was going to listen to the ditching of an aircraft carrying 300 people. I am proud to have my job, but I hate my job and the extreme stress. I plan to retire before 50 on an Island Packet or simular. Thanks for the videos that help me between my own time on the water.
Best part of my job hmmm! Is I'm a SAHD with my 4 year old daughter. I hope one day to be able to make it back to the water showing her how to sail like I grew up doing for 3 months at time every year, from the Puget sound to deep into the vast Canadian wilderness! Thanks for all that you two do I love it and wish I could be out there too. Cheers
I work in a plant with swing shifts, that’s the worst part I guess. Best part is I usually only work around 15 days a month and have 5 days off in a row. Watching your videos gives me a little escape from the grind. Keep up the adventures. So I can keep adding to my bucket list of places to visit.
I retired 3 yrs ago, and was doing various things such as Uber and working in day care centers repairing broken furniture and toys. Then about six months ago while attending an event at a museum I found that they needed volunteers to help out. I'm volunteering at The American Heritage Museum working on Tanks from 1918 to the present. The foundation also has WW2 airplanes that they fly around the country and Antique automobiles, 90% of the vehicles work (fly or drive) and I've been the happiest person, except when I'm sailing....
As a summer sailing coach in Miami, I sometimes have to make the tough call of when to sail in because of weather. You guys know how unpredictable the squalls can be, and I'm constantly juggling parents being mad at less sailing time, and the safety of their kids. We also take the kids to the sandbar a lot of the time, and multiple times we've had to get the kids out of the water due to sharks being in the area, so we've come up with the term "Code Nemo" so we don't scare the little ones. Cheers to your videos and all the hard work you put into them.
The END...
Sailing La Vagabonde Here’s a Vlog of us recently playing in our FJ40 on a lake bed. ✌️💛
one hell of a story, now your her pervert :) hahaha
That story depressing lol.
Due to an ilness, I was forcefully retired at age 53, I'm now 60 I watch every episode with such a smile it makes me happy and reminisce. Love you 2!
Cheers from Pennsylvania USA
good wine makes everything fine...
Oh, my.
You two are absolutely hilarious at times, thanks for your time and sense of humor we love, love watching you share your family (YOU TWO) with us all.
I am just watching some old episodes of yours and found your 'Lenny was here' easter egg! Loved it! Very creative!
same here,
I was a sail maker and canvas cutter and a rigger for 25 years. I've sailed on all
except the Indian and the south Atlantic Oceans. NZ is my favorite country.
Now retired , I ride dirt bikes near home and in far away places. I'm 74 and
dangerous.
Hi Dave,
I spent a couple of years in my youth in Erie, PA.
I absolutely adore your comedic bits. ❤️
You guys have changed the direction I want my life to Go! Keep up the amazing work!! Lots of love from down under Victoria Australia ❤
OOOOOH! The Lenny referance at Audible! :O How has nobody noticed that?
Great movie by the way guys!
The only channel that give a thumbs up before the intro
Ditto
Same here, they are always great
Me too
Same here!
Absolutely AGREE. I click thumbs up as soon as I see it!
Absolutely love you guys and this channel, was hooked from the very first video, I’m a stay at home mom, I have a autistic daughter that I care for and your videos help with my sense of adventure and love of the ocean, can’t wait when the videos include little Lenny, much love and safe travels ❤️
Watching in 2021...i didn't notice the easter egg about Lennys name in the Audible ad...well done! Good winds to ya
watching now in 2022 and i just noticed the easter egg. LOVE IT
Love from germany - im 19 and in my first medical semester, you inspire me so much to always carry on and try to find a positive thing to smile about even if there are hard times coming. You really inspired me to take a rest and realise that life is unbelievably beatyful. I wish you the best for your child and i hope you can inspire it as well as you did in my case. Love - Daniel
I am a retired CPA and love to fly and play tennis. You guys are a delight. True beauty in editing and presentation.
And it´s nice to escape the winter for a few weeks every year and escape to the sunshine somewhere tropical (just returned from the Caribbean)
TO be honest, I don´t really think about my job that much, just go in, do the job, and go home, like many other people I guess.
You guys rock my world. Brought the boat, quitting the job sailing Thursday. Wouldn't be without you guys. Thanks for the inspiration.
Matt Anderson awesome mate 👌
well, I'm a high school student, which is a full time job.

That video turned from a recap of what you do every video to a plug for audible... prefer videos of new adventures
I’m retired now, but I adore your channel. I smiled the whole way through this one. Thanks so very much.
Enjoy the history lessons of the places you anchor. The diving and spear fishing and Doan footage Excellent!!!
Job-wise I’m retired. The money’s not great, but the hours are brilliant.
I love your comment!
Funny thing about boats. They come from different countries all over the world so I'm not terribly worried about you stealing my identity
Very grateful for the time you put into curating the music. So many new adds thanks to SLV!
This was one of my favorites, so funny and entertaining. Thank you.
The thing I like about my job is that I get to watch your videos while I work !
Thank you for sharing your lives and the creativity, information and joy you share with us xx
