Tony Jones gives the best insights, without being in the decision room of any Jazz prognosticator. Any possible way to trade up for Salaun, hopefully the Jazz will make a rush, but I doubt he drops below SA. The Jazz would have to get to 6 or 7. I would love Holland, but I doubt his shot can be fixed.
I think you should probably pre record the sponsors when you have guests on so they're not awkwardly waiting and looking uncomfortably into the camera.
Carter will be a winner in this league....Derek White type of impact. One of most athletic guy in the draft with a 6' 9" wingspan, and atop defender. I WOULD LOVE CARTER.
I love the 6’9” wingspan and he’s 6’2” but I think he’s Jose Alverejo from the Pelicans worst case scenario and Derick White best case scenario which I don’t think he’s that good. His shot looks funny but has improved a lot. He’s an energy guy off the bench. I don’t see him as a starter.
I just discovered that Topic has a Stockton skill the way he shoots 3 pointers off the dribble. When you hear Greg Gumble say John Stocton sends the Utah Jazz to the NBA finals” Stockton hit a 3 point shot off the dribble and stepped into a 3 for the win against the Houston Rockets. His 3 point percentage isn’t great on spot up but he’s able to do it well off the dribble which is a skill not everyone has. I believe it could be that he needs to get stronger so that he is able to score easier from 3 point range. I like Holland and Knecht better but I would also be happy with Topic if the Jazz believe he can be a bigger Stockton.
I just don't like Devin Carter wild shooting. But I see him on the Jazz Ron Holland defense is freaky good. He got that dawg in him. Offense IQ kinda scares me.
I live in NY. Totally agree with Tony on the RJ/Holland comp. Holland is a much better athlete and defender than RJ. RJ was a better passer and shooter.
Tidjane Salaun is 6’9 with a 7’1” wingspan but will take a long time to develop. I wouldn’t be disappointed if we took a swing on him as a boom or bust player.
There was also one guy in rumors for who wasn't discussed, so I was curious about what thoughts were with him. I'm referring to colin sexton. Mine is that he played well enough his second season he's gonna have value and he played well enough last season to not looking to simply get off the roster probably want value in return which is as a fan what I'd want value in return
I still see Ron Holland better than Cody Williams but they are both 6’6.5” but Cody Williams has a 7’1” wingspan and Ron Holland 6’11. I know his 3 point percentage was 24% and Williams was .41 percent but he can shoot free throws at a high percentage and he’s a lot more aggressive.
Loves Castle who can't hit the broad side of the barn - limited creation skill but hates Dillingham who's one of the most skilled guards to be drafted in recent memory. Make it make sense.
That's not why Donovan didn't work out. It was more due to his hero ball, our inability to give him quality role players, and then his discontent with the team / Gobert. Let's be clear that it we had Donovan Mitchell, Gordon Hayward stayed, we drafted Bane or McDaniels, etc, we would have been just fine with a smaller guard.
@@zach5381 Shut up. Donovan worked out. He helped the franchise a ton and then he got a ton back in a trade. Saying "Donovan didnt work" is such an idiotic statement.
Leif, can you stop wasting time with discussions about Dillingham? How much did he pay you at the combine to try to hype him up? Leif starts every conversation with “I don’t think the Jazz would draft him, but….” Then proceeds to get ripped by his own arguments about his diminuitive stature, not to mention Tony’s level-headed thoughts that are obvious to everyone. Leif… You are losing credibility every time you lead with the Dillingham nonsense… You wasted most of your first segment discussing one of the lowest probability scenarios for the Jazz. Please stop.
Who cares about his credibility? He's giving his opinion and I just so happen to agree that Dillingham will be good. It may take a few years, and he may have disadvantages but he has attributes. He was mocked in the lottery, not too long ago, by many publications for a reason...
😂 Leif should collect the receipts for some of these posts. Dillingham is clearly the best shot creator in the draft and the only reason he's being disregarded is because of physical attributes, which is the reason why many GMs foolishly pass on great players every draft. And as we've observed, a narrative of negativity has been passing around the hivemind lately and you've bought right in apparently. It'll swing back during Dillingham's rookie season.
@@zach5381 Absolutely. People would think I'm embellishing or exaggerating about this, but, I predicted, before the Jazz drafted him that Rudy Robert would become the best defensive Center in the game-he fell to 27. I predicted in 2017 that Jayson Tatum (#3) and Donovan Mitchell (#13) would become the best players from that draft and compete for ROY; that Mitchell would average between 20 and 21 pts his first year, while everyone was viewing him as a defensive specialist coming out. Just a couple of examples of when I've been right.. Who cares what anybody thinks, including GMs getting paid millions of dollars.. Allen Iverson said Dillingham reminds him of himself, as a side note

This is my favorite episode every year. 😊
Thanks much fellas. Great show.
I’d love to hear more about Salaun if he’s a legitimate draft for Utah. Love Tony’s explanations and different perspective.
Thanks for coming on Tony!
The closer we get to the draft the more I like holland. Thx guys for the insight!
Tony Jones is the man. Love his perspective.
Two thumbs up! It was great to hear Tony's opinions on the various players. Thanks.
Great pod! Gonna be an interesting week!!

If we draft Carter what happens with George and Sexton? He can't really play next to either.
Loved it Tony's been way to cut out some non sense out there. Loved this episode
Castle or Williams, trade up for them

idk i’d take iguodala 2.0 over trae young-lite any day of the week.
@@knifedawg except he's not like Iggy who was a quick twitch high flyer.
I'm a big Dillingham fan, but what you might be missing is something called defense.
@@zach5381 lots a quality defenders who aren't anything more than rotation level backups because they hurt spacing for their teammates offensively.
Well did you listen to what Tony Jones said? Unless he is Trae Young he will not make an impact on winning. He is waaaaay too small.
Player option contracts stink.
You know.
You know 😂 you know. You know
u know
Stop fooling around Tyler Kolek is perfect for the Jazz.
I wouldn’t touch anyone under a real 6’4’’. That’s exactly why Donovan never really worked out for us. Just sayin.
Yeah a 6-3 guy has never won anything lol

I didn't find his discussion of Dillingham particularly glowing. They seem to agree that he would be small to take at the 10th pick
Let Leif have his favourites, like we all have🙂
