in other Auctions, Carter and Andrea gave up food for bag of rice and beans, Natalie in Micronesia shared a chocolate cake to some people, Eddie bought his tribe a huge bowl of peanut butter, Randy bought the tribe cookies, I think Taj went to exile so her entire tribe can be with their love ones in Tocantins, Will in worlds apart was kicked out of auction but receives two huge jars of treats for his own but he shared to the tribe. I know someone even bought the entire tribe giant chunks of roast meat in Philippines. In some international versions, they also give up their food and remaining money for other people. and John rejected the offer to surrender his pie for 4 other people.
So this is why they make sure people eat everything before auctioning off new things. If there were still other food around when the Apple pie option was presented he would've just took 4 slices and requested something in return from 4 other people.
They should do auctions again. No advantages, no letters from home. Just food. All the people sitting and waiting for an advantage will be out of luck.

If jeff ever gives you the option to give up what you bought in exchange for something else for the tribe, you ALWAYS exchange it. A slice of pie is not worth your tribemates being angry at you.

Shambo is one of my fav characters. She deserved better and instead was the ass of every joke. This one time was fair but it just added to the overall edit they did to just make her a joke. Also- Jayson should be brought back. That move on the advantage? That is an actual game-changer. That changed how people treated auctions moving forward completely- all these players afterwards going into the auction waiting to spend every penny only on the advantage and go all in.
