    Hello, when creating a route with mutiple co linear pieces, you get a coupling?, at each node. What do you do with them after design is complete?

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That coupling comes from my TP style. I have defined the connector field and it helps me place elements quickly there. As I know there should be some elements on the line there (valves, strainers, tees, etc.) I feel it's better and more visually easy to have a coupling rather than a split pipe. I can then drop a valve on top and have the coupling changed. It is difficult to select the node, or to drop a fitting on the node, but it is easy to drop it on top of an existing fitting like the coupling.
      There is another setting which would bring in a coupling and that is the maximum pipe length in your TP style. Inventor will add a coupling when max pipe length is reached. So if your pipe vendor can only provide 6m lengths Inventor can add a coupling for every 6m of a straight pipe.

    • @johandegreef3846
      @johandegreef3846 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdrianSalariu-ADS I have a pipestyle with butt weld checked as it is a stainless steel pipe, but if I go over 6000mm length, it gives me an error (MAX length) Shouldn't there be automatically weldments palced everey 6000mm by T&P?

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a difficult one and most likely not implemented by Autodesk.
      I think it only splits if you have defined a coupling. You can define a "no bodies" fitting with "0" gap but you still need to publish it and declare it in your TP style.

    How are u able to tag your components with a tag number? We are know making our equipmentlist manually which is alot of work and could lead to faults.

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mitchel Stottelaar
      The only way to tag equipment was to use assembly browser name. It is unique to each occurrence (component) and while a valve can be used 100 times in the assembly and reside in library (read only folder) you can change the browser name in the assembly and give it an unique ID.
      Start with this post where I am explaining this concept and the setup of custom balloons in the drawing.
      blog.ads-sol.com/2014/08/component-tags-in-inventor.html
      Then read the update on tagging from the assembly, which might be faster/preferred by some people.
      blog.ads-sol.com/2014/10/part-tagging.html
      Then there’s the final code to use in the drawing which merges both codes and creates the balloon on the drawing and renames the assembly browser node. If that component (eg. Valve) is tagged then it’s getting the current tag.

      Omar Kassam Al Hennawi thank you for the kind words. Haven't done any water cooled panels (heat exchangers?). Not sure I understand what the 180 open elbow is; the Tee and branching in Inventor is not allowed but there are workarounds. One would be to leave a gap and don't connect the branch nodes, another might be to use a construction line: th-cam.com/video/oCWQu5Guee0/w-d-xo.html and the third would be to populate the route first making sure that the pipe doesn't intersect with itself and then edit the route and connect the node to the main segment.

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Candys,
      There are a lot of fittings already available in Content Center. In the project manager window, lower right corner you will find a button to attach / detach libraries. Make sure you have at least the Tube & Pipe and Parker fittings library, then attach whatever standard you use . I have added both ANSI (us) and DIN (german) because, being in uk we get to work with both of these....
      ANSI has the ASME BPE fittings used in Pharma/Dairy and DIN has the UPVC fittings like the one in my video.
      Then I recommend you ask your suppliers to provide a CAD library. In UK I have downloaded all of Georg Fischer as well as Durapipe, Gemu valves, etc.
      Here are some links where you can find parts online.

    How can I add an extra node to an already populated route when the route was derived from a 3d sketch? I mean, the option to add a node is there when you create the route using autoroute or the 3d orthogonal route tool but when it's based ona 3d sketch it's unavailable, in the 3d sketch you can't just add a point to imitate a node and you can't delete a line segment to alter it cause it won't repopulate it.

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure.. Have you tried dropping a fitting on the populated route?

    • @eartheartbaratheon791
      @eartheartbaratheon791 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdrianSalariu-ADS I just tried that. It won't work. The dynamic tooltip says something along the lines of "Can't insert a fitting to a derived route". It's sad, without it using a 3d sketch as a routing tool looses all ofits charm, unless I'm doing something wrong.

    • @eartheartbaratheon791
      @eartheartbaratheon791 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Meh, I sort of found a solution. You actually have to alter the 3d sketch geometry (break constraints, shorten lines, etc.) to have actual line segments created (adding sketch points won't cut it). Then (only if those segments satisfy the pipe settings) you need to edit the route, choose "derived route" tool again and add new line segments to selection set. Inventor will create generic fittings, which you can then easily replace. Would've been much less tedious if we could divide a line at point...

      Glad you found your way round it. I have changed jobs and haven't used TP in the past 2 years. Finally a video that is awesome and explains routing perfectly!
    I started learning inventor recently as well and will try doing this. One question I have is I noticed when you do your routes and when you populate the route it adds a coupling in the place for the ball valve? What will it say in the bom?
    Also do you have any videos showing how to place couplings on top of the pipe?
    Thanks

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rogoznica100
      Pipe segments, elbows, couplings are populated automatically. Depending on your active style you can get flanges and gaskets as well, but instead of the coupling you can have any fitting that has 2 of it's connections 180 degrees apart. Nodes in the route will generate fittings which can then be replaced by other fittings like tees, valves, etc.
      You can drop a valve or any fitting in any part of the route and it will generate a new node there but you then need to go inside the route and constrain/dimension it so for speed I like to create my nodes ahead and drop my valve on the node later on. Does it making sense?
      Check my blog for more posts and the youtube channel for videos. Lately I haven't had time to do videos and due to personal problems, no blogs as well.

    Hi Adrian! One question: why did you use LOD rep. instead of using only view rep. in the drawing env? Maybe for the correct QTY number in the part list? (pre Inventor 2017) Thanks!

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      QTY is not affected by LOD. In fact you need to create iAssemblies for that. You are correct, in 2017 Design View filters on Parts Lists can affect quantity (display all / display for visible only)
      Here's a post on how to do that:
      blog.ads-sol.com/2015/07/documenting-tube-and-pipe-spools.html
      and here's my recommendation on drawings and LOD's (which I am sure you know allready)
      blog.ads-sol.com/2016/02/one-lod-to-rule-them-all.html
      I had a slow laptop at home and I needed to keep the memory load as low possible. Against my practice here you should only have one LOD per drawing, especially for large assemblies.

      They need to be CC family components. The closest match you will find in CC in form or DIN 8063 and there are quite a lot. Do a search for DIN 8063 in content center. Make sure you have the library attached to the project if you can’t find them.

      Hassane KONATE
      Those are 2 different concepts. Saving styles in XML and exporting / importing parameters from XML.
      There are two ways to preserve your style so you can you reuse them. You can either add them to your template tubing pipe assembly or you export import using XML format.
      I don't like to save them in the template because it makes the file heavy and I need to migrate maintain and make sure to move to newer versions of inventor. XML import export allows me to import a style while still keeping my template clean. And I don't need to worry about changes when I upgrade to a newer version of inventor.
      Parameter import export is a common thing in inventor when you're trying to transfer parameters from one model to another. I have created an empty part and created a lot of parameters in it that have dimension my fittings. For example how much space an 1" elbow needs or a tee, or valve, etc. Then I have exported the parameters and import them when I do 1" route.
      They really are two different concepts, you can skip creating parameters till you get the hang of TP

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Valerio Xu How do you modify the pipe size?
      Do you right click on it "Change Size"?
      Do you change the size of the route in Tube & Pipe Styles?
      You need to create a separate style for all your sizes. A style can only have one size. Copy your style T&P Styles, choose a different name and size and then you can use it inside your route.

      Adrian Salariu yes,I simply right click and change size. but I want to change only one segment of the pipe.Do I still need to create more styles?
      I manually change the sweep sketch, but every time I move o edit the pipe, it goes back to the default.

      Valerio Xu Right clicking on a pipe segment and selecting "Change Size" should do it. You don't need to create more styles but you seem to edit a tubing with bends correct ? In that case you might want to give us a vote on the idea station because that's not possible at the moment:
      forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideastation/tube-and-pipe-overhaul/idi-p/5518269
      Here's how to fix it:
      Right click on the segment Change Size so that the parameters update in the part. Open the part up (pipe segment) and edit sketch 3, constraint the circles and dimension the outside circle as OD and the distance between circles t or whatever the parameter names you have for pipe outer diameter and pipe thickness.
      Come back to assembly and change size again to verify that the segment updates NOW.

    The first link gives an 404 error .
    those libraries are built for auto routes , or they are just 3D model like the parts on traceparts.com?
    Thanks Again

      Type this into your browser: cad.georgfischer.comThey are dumb parts unfortunately. I have imported and authored them but didn’t bother to model them into content center families (CC). I have a text document with their location on disk and I use copy-paste to browser to them in the place fitting dialog box.

    Hi Adrian! Enjoyed your video! I see you constrain your routes plane by plane. Is it possible to use the "Ground and root" command instead? could be a time saver.

    • @AdrianSalariu-ADS
      @AdrianSalariu-ADS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not! It's only main TP assembly that can used with Ground and Root. I use this command so often that it's mapped to "GR" on my keyboard. Runs and Routes are adaptive and cannot be grounded, and in fact you get an error message....but I am opened to suggestions.
      I started writing ilogic code to help me with this, but I haven't done much piping lately and got side tracked on other things.

      Hi Adrian, if you open the main TP assembly, you can ground & root the runs in there without the error message. In my first tests it seems to work just fine.
      On the other hand, maybe you can help me with this little problem: Can i relocate the start and end of a flexible hose (without connectors in the style) in this autode.sk/2obgR7m video you can see were i get stuck.
      Hope you can help.
      greetings,
      Bram.
