That's great. You're an inspiration, Walter. I'm looking at antiques and vintage goods as a way to ease me into retirement a few years down the line. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
I especially look for silver in carboot sales. I'm far from those characters who go into the back of the cars. I never go at the dawn and always let others to look into the boxes first... and still find nice things! Bangle with gemstones for £1, necklace and a ring for £0.20, all sterling silver and very good condition - these are my last carboot sale experiences. It's sometimes unbelievable what people give away for cheap, or more often they don't recognise it. On a same day I bought a 14 ct gold pendant and a very good quality faceted rock crystal necklace after 11.00 o'clock, quite late, the lady wanted £1.50 for the two items. I didn't know that time the pendant is gold, but nevertheless I loved especially the necklace so much I gave her £2.00. And she was laughing her head off and mocking me with her friend because I gave her £0.50 more than she asked.
Hi Martha. Thank you very much for your comment. Your like me I don’t go in cars with public I walk around and get stuff after the dealers are gone. People don’t realise the jewellery is mostly last thing they pull out. Well done and you certainly had the upper hand.
New sub here. Thank you for fantastic info. Take care and God bless. Also some times when folks bring in say 1860's dresser like the one I bought...from a Victorian home, while cleaning it up (It had been in an attic for years) it turned it upside down and there was a hidden draw. In the draw was really nice real jewelry! I contacted the home owners who were very well off and elderly and they said they didn't care about the jewellery & thanked me for being honest. So you never know what you'll find.😁

Most people won't understand how fast it adds up. Until they become compulsive, consistent hoarders themselves.
