    Astonishing that O'Sullivan takes two serious risks, trying shots he didn't need to, as if he was always simply willing to do his best whatever might - as it did both times - happen! It's more than courage, it's just a willingness to dare! And thanks for it! John.

    One can consider that Ronnie fluked the red to win the match but one must also remember that Mark fluked that snooker that put Ronnie in trouble in the first place, hence the snooker gods have balanced out the luck in the end to make sure the best player won.

    For non-aficionados, the tapping of the cue on the Cush after a shot is a way of saying “good shot” without speaking - because during a game players generally don’t speak to each other. So all the snookers early in the video are followed by a tap.

  • @pure_awareness
    @pure_awareness ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Selby only has two modes imo, breakbuilding and safety battle, I think he struggles to switch between the two or to mix it up and as we all know Ronnie can mix it up with unexpected playing style.

    • @mkeysou812
      @mkeysou812 ปีที่แล้ว

      No question Selby is a much more conventional player, albeit an exceptionally good one. Ronnie is a genius though, and can read the game in ways others just can't

  • @nickllama5296
    @nickllama5296 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Poor Selby. 378 flukes during the match, including the most outrageous one at the end, and then he has to sit there and pout when Ronnie gets a fluke back.
    Also: This is why I hate the miss rule with a passion. You fluke a snooker, and boom, you get 20-30-40 points off of it. A snooker was never meant to be worth that many points. It's changed the game so much, and absolutely not for the better, especially not now where it's always automatically a miss.

  • @FloydMaxwell
    @FloydMaxwell ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good quote at the start. FWIW, things I don't care for about Mark Selby -- slow play, combined with a tense nature. Ronnie is the opposite of both of these.
    Mark Selby is simply not enjoyable to watch. Some are like that. It is the difference between a talented, natural, generous nature...and a win-at-all-cost mentality that ultimately loses everything because life is not meant to be lived that way.

  • @NoName-eo2mv
    @NoName-eo2mv ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Mark could’ve took the fluke completely out of the equation by taking a free ball and still wouldn’t have left an easy shot on red if he’d missed, ROS definitely would’ve tried to win the frame that way, maybe putting it back was the percentage play most if the time and on that occasion it cost him

    • @Vince27.
      @Vince27. ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah that’s definitely not a good idea taking the free ball, wasn’t the easiest of shot either.

    Correct me if I am wrong, i have noticed that many times Ronnie ,when he breaks he leaves the opponent a good chance to make a shot, such a great player should be aware of it, don't get me wrong he is the reason why I watch snooker , he is the goat

  • @judgetk8327
    @judgetk8327 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Before I get to my point on this match I have always enjoyed Mark's games and his fantastic potting. I have watched Ronnie and Steven Hendry since they were kids and my best friend favored Steven and I have been a ROS fan. I remember some games were Ronnie was on the ropes with a real tough snooker and 3 or 4 players I'll not say could have went on to win the match after Ronnie missed the hook but Mark knew he was going to rack up some points even though he had free ball. Then Ronnie flukes the last red in while he's shooting his best and we all know about his fantastic que ball control and he cleans up like he has done so many times. But to see him do it when the other player wants to put him back in is a beautiful thing and a nasty sting for Mark. What's that saying when you just got your ass handed to you? There are several. One more thing the number of times Ronnie keeps putting his aponnet back in the hook like Mark did you could count on your hand. Hat is always off to you Ronnie for all the years of watching your unbelievable career. You as well Mark but this time you got what you deserve.

    The full ball double kiss by Selby got me thinking. On a respotted black, what if the player breaking off played the cue ball slowly, straight down the center. A perfectly played, full ball double kiss might leave the black just below the black spot and the white a foot above the black spot. Tricky shot for the opponent to play, correct? Does this make any sense?
